Maybe just say no to censorship, let your users block the stuff they don't want to see, allow your users to create their own echo chambers. As long is at is not officially illegal, don't censor it.
Calling a multi-rotor radio controlled vehicle a drone is bad for the hobby. They are quad/hex/octo-rotors, they do not become a drone until they follow pre-programmed instructions, or make movements based on topography of the surrounding environment, with no input from human operators. It is like calling a radio controlled car, plane, or helicopter a drone.
We have used it for years. And it is mostly awesome. My only complaint is that attachments, comments, and responses all live in the same column in a single table in the database. Making full text searches a tough nut to crack, especially as the system grows. We have stood up a replicant database with a solr search in front of it. To do full text searches of comments and replies without taking down the rt system (ours currently sits at about 12 gb of data)
Just because you don't know how to do something doesn't mean it can't be done. Just because you'd make a bad design choice doesn't mean that everyone will.
In my personal experience, ex military IT pros are far too rigid for coming up with solutions that are outside of the norm. This is a good thing when you need NOC jockeys. Not so good when a service goes down at 1 AM and you need to get that service up, and an unconventional manor is the only way. It may be less than ideal, but it buys the time necessary to fix it correctly. I cannot say this is only ex-military that have this problem of rigidity, I have seen it in a lot of other people as well. Especially those who have come from a call center, where all they do is follow a flow. I would say it is more prevalent in those who are ex-military.
It isn't really unlimited though, After 5Gb they have the option of terminating your contract, throttling you, or cutting you off. It is there in your contract. Nothing is unlimited, most of the services that claim to be unlimited have break-over points where they shunt you onto 3g or severely limit your speeds. I would claim collusion, but they have way more resources and lawyers than I do.
The real question is are they passing people, or just keeping up with speed in the lane they are in? Important, because there are laws (FAR TOO RARELY USED) on the books for impeding the flow of traffic as well, such as going too slow for conditions in the fast/passing lane.
Wait just a moment here... Where does all our current funding go?
I pay roughly 45% of my annual income in Taxes (split between state and federal), this is not including sales tax, fuel tax, property tax, and registration. With all of that added in (some via estimate) it is pretty easy to get that number to between 50 and 55%. I will never agree to a tax increase, ever. What we have here is a very poorly run situation, one where police are required to "tax" people from breaking silly laws and distracting the police from doing what they should be doing, stopping real crime.
In a world where it takes an hour or more for police to come to my home after it has been robbed, yet you can drive around and see 10 speed traps, there is something wrong. Tickets should not be used as a source of income for the police departments, there should be no incentive for them to harass what are otherwise law abiding, tax paying citizens. "There is a person across town who is being murdered, and here is the officer writing a citation to someone who has never committed a real crime."
Golf is one of the hardest sports to play, requiring a precision unparalleled in any other sport. It may not be as physically demanding as say football, soccer, hockey, basketball, racing, etc. In terms if difficulty, there aren't many that are equal. I challenge you to just go to a driving range, and hit 2 balls out of 1000 strait.
Before you belittle something, you should probably try it first. I used to be like you, until I started playing golf, never in my life have I been as frustrated.
At any rate, I don't think it is the difficulty of the game that is turning away players, it is the cost of greens fees for a decent course, the other assholes on the course, either slowing you down, or rushing you, basically not allowing you to have any fun. People take it too damn serious.
I have been saying this for years... literally Oldest I can find, unfortunately my comment history only goes back to 2007 (though I have been a member for much longer), but I digress.
I still say, allow fighting in schools again, allow kids to ball up their fists and duke it out.
I am tired of all the folks who say "Violence isn't the answer, violence solves nothing, booo hooo hooo hooo, whaaa whaaa, etc..." Humans by nature are a violent, conquering, species. We very much have a pack mentality, with that pack mentality comes the need to sort out who the leaders are. Historically, this happens around the age of jr. high school (ages 11-14 or so), this is one of the reasons that most school systems are broken into elementary, Jr High, and High schools. It separates out kids at the times they are most violent (and sexually curious, but that is for a different post), it protects the 10 and under crowd from those who are just starting to determine their pecking order, and protects the 11-14 crowd from the pubescent adults.
Kids need to fight, fighting makes us stronger, both mentally and physically.
Kids want to grow up to be a movie star, or a pop star, or a $sports star. That is what the culture in America idolizes, those who don't fall into this modicum are rejected as "geeks", "nerds", "freaks" , etc.
All you really have to do to get a good idea of this is to watch American television. Even our news consists mostly of the lives of those who are considered celebrities. Hell this morning there was a report that one of our state level representatives is getting married, nothing about policy, nothing about what she does, her stance on things, just that she is getting married to some lawyer. This is what we consider to be news..... It is only going to get worse, we praise the dumb, lift the idiotic, and work those with intelligence to death.
So where is the CO2 coming from? And the coal plants are still running whether I use an electric car or not, so the net total is still higher with gasoline.
Mostly Livestock, animals, and even humans. In the form of breathing. That is where most of the CO2 in the atmosphere is coming from.
"The Market" is thrown out the window when one has only two or three choices for an internet connection.
I have the choice of high speed cable via Time Warner, DSL via ATT, or satellite via Houges net. Lets see here, fast, slow, and slower! There is no real choice for the market to make, as the city makes the choice based on what cable, and phone provider gives them the right bid to lay the lines.
On the peering issue, network owners have a right to charge for a peering connection. However, it would be in the best interest of the companies in question to provide the best service to the customers... if there was any competition.
The reason is... have you ever tried to ship via train?
When you ship via train, you have a "delivery window" think of it like the cable guy who will be at your house some time between 8 am and 5 pm. With trains that window is usually 7 days long, depending on when the crews get to the car your stuff is in.
Trucks are so popular because, generally speaking, one knows how long it is going to take to get from hub A in Boston to hub B in Las Vegas.
Free market, bitches! Suck it you socialist faggots!
Free market means exactly that - if the vendors do something despicable the customers stop doing business with them and choose other vendors who won't do similarly despicable things to them.
The only problem is that people continue to support the companies that do despicable things, in theory, because it seems most don't care as long as it doesn't interrupt their fast food and reality tv.
Educated masses are not useful to Conservative political parties.
Fixed that for you.
Wow the stupid flows strongly with this one.
Uneducated masses are more akin to treating political parties as a religion instead of being able to see that things have more than one side. Political parties serve no other purpose that to divide a nation. Pit one against another, thus shading the truth and misdirecting on things that should be the primary focus.
So continue your silly blame the opposite party for all that is wrong with the world, or open your eyes and see that both sides are controlled by the same puppeteer.
We should ban talking altogether. Terrorists have been known to use speech in training as well as in the execution of terrorist attacks. Child pornographers and drug cartels are also frequent users of speech.
We should ban breathing as well... terrorists, child pornographers, drug cartels, users, criminals, illegals, and bad guys all breath.
It has been known for years that the NSA has a handle on all internet traffic, as well as cellular activities. They store it compile it, and if enough of it raises a red flag, some men in suits come to pay you a visit. Home of the free (to be spyed upon), Land of the brave (only once we have enough information on you).
This one has me torn... On one hand I would like to see companies held accountable for the damage that a breach can cause to an end consumer... the other side of me knows that you can only deter so much, if someone really wants in, they will gain access one way or another...
Maybe just say no to censorship, let your users block the stuff they don't want to see, allow your users to create their own echo chambers. As long is at is not officially illegal, don't censor it.

+1 for rt

MMMMMMMMMMM
Delicious Tears!
That doesn't stop a CEO of a corp from handing money to a politician and asking for the same favors.
Politicians don't understand the last mile delivery of internet service.
I would say that they don't understand anything of internet service. At least the elected officials (in general of course). Otherwise I agree fully.
The real question is are they passing people, or just keeping up with speed in the lane they are in? Important, because there are laws (FAR TOO RARELY USED) on the books for impeding the flow of traffic as well, such as going too slow for conditions in the fast/passing lane.

And what's with the massive influx of AC idiots defending the government's nonsense?
Just your standard Government contractors, hired to do what the government cannot do.

Driving is NOT a privilege. It's a right.
Driving is a privilege, not a right. unless there has been some amendment to the constitution that I am not aware of.

I don't know why you went AC on this, but it is absolutely correct.
Big Rigs (Tractors with Trailers) do the most damage to the road way.
hell most "Big SUVs" still fall into the light duty vehicle category (< 10001 lbs) according to the AFDC.
