Didn't he put an excercise about that in one of his books?
Calculating the bandwidth of a Saint Bernard? And until which distance the dog is faster than ATM.
Reading helps.
He was writing about DSL, thats on your phone line. and you have your own phone line running to your house that you're not sharing witn anyone else. complete set of two wires.
But speaking of cable: If you manage to free a certain frequency range from tv channels to data, it's not affected by up/downstream planned for tv. it's up to the provider to split it up between up- and downstream.
Had that idea a few years ago too. Never tried it, even though it would have been quite simple:
Cram together a Text-to-Speech engine, Dragon Dictate and an old infocom adventure.
Next step: Replace the TTS with prerecorded text from a professional actor.
That's like Radio Shack asking for your name and address when you come in to buy a fuse for your god damn CB radio.
Don't give it out and you're a terrorist. Isn't it great when life is that simple?
GPL allows anyone to *borrow* code and make money from it.
A no (C)-situation would allow anyone to *steal* code and make money from it. (ok, no protection from the stolen code beeing stolen again..)
theres a new translation... Someone found out that not 72 virgins are waiting for suicide bombers, but 72 grapes...
boy I'd go mad finding that out after I just blasted myself:-)
Terrorists just have to use fake names, or steal someone's identity.
iirc the 9/11 terrorists didn't have to use fake names or IDs.
Thats the advantage of suicide bombers. No one will ever be suspiscious for having commited already a suicide bombing before.
UUps, OK, my fault. Mixed it up with another post above....

don't confuse yoda with a muppet. muppets are a form of the classical art of puppeteering.
Yoda is simply a guyout of a pc.
Corewars?
Or that Java Robot-Tank-Game.. yes RoboCode...
isn't that a step into that direction?
But yes, that sounds really like fun! try to think of a standardized way of manipulating the parameters of the game...
bickerdyke
I guess it's because a "2-DVD-Box" sounds better in the commercials than "1 double-side DVD" bickerdyke
