I dumped $30 into this game getting outfits for my characters as my way of saying thanks to DICE. I just recently given up on the game. The made changes to the matchmaking service that usually puts you in a near empty server. The number of cheaters has gone up ruining the fun. Now this crap. It was fun while it lasted. They should look a Valve and TF2.
http://www.dragondogpress.com/unclefiggy/rp4nrp/ Uncle Figgy's Guide to Roleplaying for Non-Roleplayers, A Manual for Parents, Friends, and Gamers is a good read about roleplaying for someone who isn't a familiar with it.
If you misspell a variable somewhere in Python, you must end up with two variables or something. It looks ridiculous.
When coding in Perl, I always use strict, but I also check the syntax before trying to run it (perl -c myscript.pl). In python, I use pychecker which checks the syntax, looks for variables that potentially could be misspelled, and some other cool things.(pychecker myscript.py)
Call me when Python has CPAN's 7848 modules. Then we can talk about "productivity".
I hear this over and over, but I have to wonder what percentage of CPAN's 7848 modules are actually used? Which ones have been replaced by better ones?
Python has PYPI which is growing. Python also comes with a pile of standard modules. I'll admit something closer to CPAN would be helpful. On the other hand, I haven't had any issues finding modules. Sometimes all you need to do is google or ask on one of the python lists.
It's not surprising that it's a lot like GURPS. During Fallout 1's development, they were going to use GURPS but had a falling out with Steve Jackson Games.
Also we saw the brandmarketers Video T-Shirt at the Wired Nextfest 2004.
Are you sure that wasn't Wired Nerdfest?
Sounds like something out of those cyberpunk novels. I'm a t-shirt addict. I wouldn't want sound since it'd be too distracting. Even moving images might be too distracting in the workplace. I guess if you had the ability to stop the motion.
Their largest competitors are no longer Microsoft in a large way, but Oracle, SAP and others.
Unless their left hand is competing with their right hand, I don't think IBM's competitor is SAP. One of IBM's services is to install/configure/develop SAP.
I heard that Woo doesn't like Sci Fi. He drained all the Sci Fi out of Paycheck. Why would he do a Sci Fi video game?

I'll also recommend HTML::Template. Perl, Python, and PHP all have implementations of it. The same template will work in all three of those languages. It's a pretty simple templating syntax that has the option of being embedded in HTML comments.

if everyone at the company is using Linux, not likly to happen. owever, I have not seen I word document that I couldn't open under Linux in over a year.
I'm sure you could open the document, but it was probably gibberish. =)
Unfortunately, in my experience with Open Office 1.1, many Word documents will open but are obfuscated. i.e. much of the formatting gone making it look like a mess that hard to follow. Some have refused to open.
Lately, I've been using Open Office 1.1. When I need to send a document to co-workers. I save it as PDF and email the PDF.
They don't censor stuff, they just refuse to carry it.
Then the artists and/or record companies create "clean"(whitewashed) versions of their music so that they don't lose out on Wallyworld's unfortunate massive marketshare.
"Well, I found this open source project that sounds right, but it looks like it's been dead since 2007."
What if the software was essentially done and works fine, or does software go bad faster than fruits and veggies left in the sun for a few hours?
The CEO must ride with the astronauts. That'll make it safe.

Don't forget "Legend". Except for Tim Curry, it was horrible.
Dive Into Python is a great online book if you have some programming experience. Buy the dead tree if you like it.
I missed this movie "Burning Kiosks". I can't seem to find it in IMDB. When did it come out, and why are we talking about it on /.?
If Trac isn't your cup of tea. You might take a look at GForge It's the OSS version of Source Forge that you can run internally.
I know it's not open source, but Active State's KOMODO has a mac version now. The personal edition is pretty cheap.
I just use VIM, but I wouldn't consider it an IDE.

Are you insane? That's like mixing matter and anti-matter, or pouring Pepsi into a Coke glass! The universe will no longer exist as we know it!
