No seriously, the trouble is actually finding a pocket to put it in. Usually the CD is just too big to fit in.. if it was a more rectangle shape (but the same size one way) it would be fine. But it's not.

Appleworks is appalling. It looks like an OS9 app, and I hate OS9 with a passion.

It took me 2 years to shrug off the stigma of OS9 and consider getting an iBook (which I did when I played with OSX in-depth).

I'm hopeful that Apple will release an updated version of AppleWorks (or a new product that does the same job) at Macworld SF this January coming.

Well, that's if you look at it from a pure unit point of view. Look at it from a revenue point of view and you will see that Apple is doing much better - the revenue of PCs slips and slips per unit while Apple keeps it pretty much the same.

Also, you've gotta realize that in this time they have made 2 huge changes - a _brand new_ OS, which is completely different to anything else they have done, and also getting rid of motorola.

Motorola held Apple back far more than any CEO did. I think we will see this trend reversed as the people who went over to x86 for the performance (which is totally valid) will start coming back. Especially with Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio. They are excellent applications and surpass anything Adobe or other companies do in that market.

(They tend not to do this that much in Europe with the Euro as it is very obvious with the Euro being nearly 1:1 with the dollar). The trouble is, the minute Apple makes the stuff cheaper, it means they loose the 'executive' edge.
