This is because it saves every tab entry too the HDD. I noticed this too, but there is a settinging in 'advanced'. Can't remember what exactly it's called, but it's something like 'Tab Crash Restoration'. Turn it off and you'll be back too fast firebird again...
Try the latest Release candidate on windows. They changed the build flags when compiling it, and it is at least 100% faster on my machine (used too take 5 seconds too load, now takes 2) and it's also 2mb smaller.

It also comes with it installed by default, RedHat doesn't include it for 'legal' reasons. Along with mp3 support...
I'm not saying that. I'm saying that I expect non-paying patron's too pay for the access too it.
A subscribtion based method would work especially well...
That's fine obviously. But bandwidth isn't cheap and anyway when is the last time you've seen a big media company have a free webcast of something that was in watchable quality instead of a 3kbit buffer slideshow... hopefully a subscription (for outside the UK) based model would mean that bandwidth and servers are kept up at a reasonable quality.
Hopefully they will do what they do with the BBC Broadband service - peer with DSL and cable ISPs so the bandwidth costs nothing apart from the upkeep of the system.
This also means that international folks can't access it. Which is good since I pay my TV License...
I know that, but lots of other distro's also use it as default.
How come it suddenly became default - IMO its a far far worse product than either Koffice or Gnome Office...
This is really going too help out with Linux deployment - a lot of companies use MS Excel, and now that there is the marketing feature that you can simply copy all your old formula's over and they will work, will be a big deal. I mean Excel is so incredibly bloated now that I bet only 25% of the fomulas are used regually, but at least the marketing dept. can advertise that.
On a side note, how come OpenOffice suddenly became the 'default' linux office suite - Koffice and Gnome Office IMO show much more potential than the overbloated staroffice base...
Ok. Take 'Joe User' here... he just bought himself a nice Windows XP machine.
When he sets it up, he's asked too set up a.net passport for WINDOWS MESSENGER. Now I don't think he's going too go too all that trouble to download AIM/ICQ/Yahoo when he has MSNM support already set up for him.
All of his friends will do that, and guess what.. they are all MSNM users, now, because it's much easier too set up and quicker.
Ha! I just know it will require third party applications too code support into it.
The trouble is that longhorn, looks fairly eye candy (productivity issues aside).. but it will look really ugly once you have a few 'old' windows xp apps running in there.
It's not at all automatic. Maybe theres a setting but on my RH9 boxen it just gives you a tick if you are updated, a execlamation mark if you need updated and a ? mark if you inet is down or your RPM database is b0rked.
Well, gee. Don't you think it would be a good idea too check what you are letting yourself in for before you got it?
Thats like buying Windows Server 2k3 and expecting it too be as secure as the ads show it too be.
Absolutley.
Sony's main userbase is the lower class, poor, live in slums and shop at 33cent stores (sorry, just saw the simpsons episode). Once 'Dodgey Dave' moves in and finds this, you'll find that 100 PS2s which were once using retail games will just be using pirated software. I know there are modchips for the PS2, but have you seen how complex they are?
But as much as I hate too tell you the worst that happens is:
a) windows media player looks up at M$ central and gets the codec for you
b) or you have to double click another installer.
IM file transfers : broke Video Confrencing: broke voice over IP: broke host a game (on xbox live for example): broke
now, i dont know about you but most of the people do one of the above things regually. IM has latley became the killer app of the internet (for the younger people).
This would reduce the internet to one way communication - something that I dont want.
Sorry, I should of made myself clearer. Fast ADSL is shit out of London. 512k isnt too bad... BTW are you sure you have 2mbps from NTL.. telewest offer it but NTL only offer it on there biz pakcages:)
Uh, well here in merry ol' england BT was privatized fully a couple of decades ago.
Cell phone coverage is superb. Its something like 99.5% if you factor in all networks, or 97% per network.
Broadband is quite simply shit if your out of London. In the UK if you buy '512k DSL', it is expected to be '512k DSL' ALL OF THE TIME. Same with cable - NTL and telewest (the 2 biggest cable co's) have always been capped. The thought of it being uncapped is staggering. Having said that, in London you can get 6mbps DSL for £100/month.. thats $160/month. Having said that since POTS in the UK is so bad, only about 50% of copper lines will work with speeds over 512k, which will probably mean BT will have to deploy VDSL, if it wants to keep to its target of 5mbps countrywide by 2005. (Hint: it doesnt have a residential 1mbps product yet)

No, Israel is the 51st, the UK 52nd and Iraq bring the 53rd.

Yes, due too the fact that linux is mainly SCOs code, linux uses the GPL, the GPL is illegal and therefore all GPL code is now SCO's.
Mod parent up! Made my day :)

Would that be 'msblaster' windows server 2003?
BS. The only reason I bought my N64 in the first place was because of goldeneye. Without that game I wouldn't of spent 100's of on N64 games.
