  1. Re:Sound Cancel? on Turn Your Head Into Speakers · · Score: 1

I think it would be relatively simple, just apply a little logic.

Have microphones placed in various spots arround the boat.

Use a phase reversal (a function built into all high end sound consoles) and play the new sound through the Terfenol.

The tricky part would be selecting the right amplitude and putting these systems in the right places arround the boat.

Fight for your right to steal... Go find a real cause. This is the law, like it or not. Patents and Copyrights have done alot for society so stop being dificult. Whilst the RIAA is sometimes extreme, they are in the right.

  5. Auditors generaly do a good job... on Microsoft Audits UK Council To Prove Cost Effectiveness · · Score: 1

This will end with either MS in tears, or allot of whining, red faced Linux pushers. I actually think MS might actually win this, simply because of the training costs (both trainers and employees on the clock), and transfer costs involved with Linux. The other thing is, if their is only a marginal cost difference most companies will choose to stick with MS to save effort. I'm a big Linux fan myself but I don't think it has yet reached the corporate/consumer market. Then again for a company starting from scratch (will not be tested) Linux could be the way to go.

  6. ahh... on Who Needs Radio? · · Score: 1

The end to the recording industry means all but the end to music. Musicians won't write/play music merely for the knowledge that people will condemn their morals and way of life. Which is exactly how people are justifying STEALING their music.

This intergration is all good but I still get much better devices if I keep sepperate ones. I then also have the option to go out with just my phone, not my phone/laptop/cammera/mp3 player which is 10 times the size.

You need a life and a reality check. With out capitalism, people would be a hell of allot more lazy. With out patents the computer in front of you would have never been invented. Stealing is never right, you can justify anything out of envy or jelosy.

What a breath of fresh air comming from slashdot. Society obviously needs copyrights and patents. With out them we'd have no medicine or technology, because every time a compnay (and lets face it all usful technological advances come from the commercial sector) innovated somthing, the next company would steal it.

We are also yet to explore the earths core. I remember reading about some plan to send a probe down there... I guess the thought of space and the prospect of inteligent alian life forms is more appealing. But then you never we know, we might find other intelligent life forms some where here on earth. Also I think it might actually require more technology to explore the depths of our sea than space. Under water objects are exposed to emense pressure.
