Is there a way to really compare the speed of a supercomputer and commodity hardware? If anyone could give either a quick explanation or a link to the relationships between bogomips teraflops MHz and the whole lot I would be very much appreciative.
Is it just me or does the name "Otzi" sound vaguely like one that would belong to one of those hideous poofy poodles?
"Time for your visit to the doggie spa my widdle Otzi!"
With the coming of the g5s which seem extremely promising, it seems that even if they would have to share the market in video production with final cut, the amount of people in that field that these new machines would draw would probably give them a boost anyhow
CG is no less of a story telling medium than live action, if anything, the most expressive and engrossing character thus far in the movies has been Gollum. As a LOTR nut, I have full respect for the balance between Jackson's sometimes mindlessly entertaining cinema and Tolkien's often dense literature.
There are obviously many parodies and knockoffs that have been released as retail products, such as spaceballs, and a large majority of Weird Al Yankovicz's songs. Does anyone know about how copyright law applies to these situations? Does one have to first license the material, then make whatever they want, or do they have to license it and get a final product approved, or, can they just do whatever they want and pass it off as a parody? If the latter was true, it would be interesting to see some sort of Hong Kong Starr Worrs or something with the exact same movie, word for word, but with actors in goofy costumes. I dunno, im kinda losing focus here, but i would be interested to hear details about this if available. Later.
Let it be sufficient to say that certain people are prone to pirate software and save that money they might have spent for the less readily available hardware. When physical matter becomes transferable via the internet, who knows what will happen. I know I will wait in line to buy an HP 3D molecule reassembler(tm), which would essentially be the last thing you would ever have to buy. any thoughts?
I wonder what might come of this in respect to data havens, if you can evade the law on an oil rig with at least minor success, I wonder what you could do on a satellite or another planet. Also, who will control the the data flow? Some damn good encryption might be necessary.

you dont recommend the TWIN towers eh? I'm not sure who would.
as little respect as i have for microsoft I am not quite sure it makes sense to blame them for ones own facial excretions.
