Ummm..... I have two nearly identical Dell Laptops, one work and one home. The work one will always be crap. McAfee is CRAP, symantec may cause a bit of slowdown but not "I want to detroy the laptop" slowdown. But mostly, corporate Windows machines are ass because corporate IT is full of the know-it-all system techs that don't know it all or they'd be engineers. That's why their Windows images are crap.
Windows isn't bad if used properly, unfortunately most people accept the Dell pre-installed version or have to deal with a corporate image. I managed to get admin rights on my corp machine, and things are good.
Mac users aren't smart enough to DIY their own computers, who knew they could buy non-Mac mice?
I used to give people more credit, then I did tech support for a few years. If it's not frustratingly dumbed down for me, I assume most people will never figure it out.
They have people that charge for bandwidth, you know ISPs? They won't allow you to sell their bandwidth. I haven't even looked yet, but I'm sure it's in your contract.
You can't mouse gesture with 1-button. Mouse gesturing is more intuitive than pretending to see all of the things my mouse does. (keyboard presses with mouse clicks don't count as 1-button, so you lose).
completely freak out if they SAW two buttons on a mouse. Does anyone feel that Apple does stuff differently just to say they do things differently? Like that kid who ate paper in grade school, who just did it so you'd ask. Well, Apple is the kid who eats paper.
Some stuff works (iPod kind of) and some stuff is really stupid and pointless (one button mouse, artsy-cute-VW Bug computers). The kid who ate paper never made an iPod I guess. But even the paper eater would want a wireless mouse many years after these are common place.
If anyone thinks this is that ingenious, the Logitech V500 is the king of innovative mice.
They can't stop people who know how to download or read hacks like this. It's only a matter of time. This will stop people who had a friend install Windows and it happened to be a pirated copy. At least they're putting in a small amount of effort knowing that it won't stop power users in the end.
Funny, that's what they said about e-mail vs snail mail 10 years ago.
It is true though. People used to make things personal now it's a string of OMG WTF IMHO BBQ. I don't mind being ignorant when it comes to those abbreviations. I feel that I'm a better person for purposely not learning to bastardize the english language even more. I mean, can we at least stick to misspelling and poor grammar? Do we really need to eliminate words completely?
I die a little more inside. Usually while reading the news. Good luck making lots of money off of this. As we're all painfully aware that's the only reason for this. They're just trying to see if it will make money or not. Please don't pay any money to this crap.
If you want non-gansta rap that's not completely fake but still fairly geek: Deltron 3030 It's a project by the band that is now the Gorillaz. Deltron is a rapper from 3030 explaining what the future is like. Very, very good and very unforced.
Wrong, businesses buy volume licenses that don't require activation and hurdle jumping that reg copies do. Also, with a Win server distributing updates to a company instead of MS directly, this verification thing will be done on the server and it's client licenses.
Now you have to be a year older to buy it, that fixes everything. I'll sleep so much better knowing that the new version will only include tons of violence but no sex. That was close, people might learn what sex is before they're 21. Thank you Jesus for protecting our children's tender sensibilities.
I mean, I'd let a kid watch an R movie but not NC-17, that's over the line. This is so dumb. Take your Christian morals and shove them up your ass. Separation of church and state sounds good, but it is soooo ineffective.
The real terrorists came up with the Patriot act. You know the ones that impose fear with a nice color system that was designed to tell you how afriad to be. At least the terrorists with bombs let you decide how afraid to be.
You'd think that millions "voting" not to be bothered would make a difference, but apparently businesses know better than we do. Do these idiots realize that they're just going to spend more money calling people that will hang up?
We can just file a class action lawsuit for harrasment if they start calling again. Any lawyers want this case? Seriously, if I say "Don't call" and they call that's harrasment right? I'd go to jail or get fined if someone told me not to call and I did anyway. Exactly how are telefucketers above the law?
Can anyone explain how this is legal? I'm stupified.
Wrong, it runs on expensive Mac/Intel hardware. And OS X is UNIX for morons. If you want UNIX Solaris 10, if you want Linux choose your flavor, if you want to be treated like and idiot by an OS choose OS X. When it works it's great, when it doesn't work you're SOL.
Here: Get XP Pro for gaming and dual boot or KVM a second machine with Ubuntu. There you're set. Or, spend a small fortune and buy a good Mac, don't go off on the Mac mini, it's not really cheap at all. I can buy two Dell PC's and a copy of XP and a KVM for less than a Mac.
I had an Epson in 1998 that had that. The print heads clog up when the ink dries in them. Now you have to buy a new printer instead of new cartriges, awesome.
Good points. But slide rules and logarithms aren't at all neccessary for I'd guess 99% of people. People really only need basic math up to squaring and square roots. I have a masters in EE, and never use calculus or logarithms in my job.
Other than that the check plus, check minus system needs to go. Kids need to learn how to fail and deal with it. They also need to learn what they're good at. Everybody's a winner doesn't help anyone, it creates little helpless retards. These are the people who whine a lot even though they're over 30.
Life is hard and full of crap, school should be a little taste.
Also, I wouldn't say people are not capable of learning on their own, they just won't. They're too lazy, period.
The not keeping score in kids sports needs to stop. Keep score, teach your own kids how to lose and how to deal with it.
Really, I would just like schools to teach kids that they will have to learn to deal with stuff. A kid cries about a bad grade "deal with it and study harder". Hell, there's a chance your kid is dumb, maybe he's destined to be a blue-collar guy. There's nothing wrong with that, unless you make something wrong with it.
I really don't think any of these problems stems from crappy schools, they all come from lazy crappy parenting. Parents need to learn that their kid isn't special to anyone but them. The schools aren't being too hard if they hold your kid back or give them a bad grade or lose at a sport, they just might suck at whatever they just failed. That's right, your special little angel might just suck at a lot of stuff, deal with it.
Have fun supporting your kid throughout your retirement since they will be unable to handle any sort of criticism, which won't help holding a job or going to college.
Personally, I'll probably choose to send my kids to private school. Public schools have to change the way they operate any time a parent thinks precious little Johnny was treated unfairly.
Windows now offers translucent UI, finally catching up with Apple.
Who cares who has more eye candy. twm is just as efficient as any other UI, it's faster, and it's more customizable. I dislike eye candy being mistaken for a mandatory feature. I like to shove that stupid dock somewhere dark, right next to where I'd like to shove the start button.
Remember, pretty does not equal better UI. I still haven't seen anything that mac has done that is any better than MS. Unless you're talking about idiot-proofing stuff, because they're good at that.
I'm sure congress will step right up and reduce copyright terms. They always side with consumer. Look at the Microsoft monopoly. Remember when they split Office, IE and Windows into separate companies... oh, wait.
Although, I'd side with big business too if they handed me lots of money. Free money to screw over most of the country sounds fair as long as I get something out of it. That's the American way.
Why would Bush want Osama? He can run his dictatorship as long as the big terrorist is still at large. That guy will go free until the last year of Bush's presidency.
It seems odd to me that the Government has any business mandating TV signals to go digital. Did major TV manufacturers give somebody's campaign a lot of money?
It seems like a stupid idea. It seems like people who only have OTA TV don't really care about watching a lot of TV. Does someone really think 30 million people are going to run out to buy a more expensive TV?
As long as we're on special interests, when are they mandating digital radio?
Ummm..... I have two nearly identical Dell Laptops, one work and one home. The work one will always be crap. You're doing it now, you're taking those browsers to the LIMIT! Does anyone read headlines? That just sounds funny.
Just jack into the Google-matrix. Amatuers.
