I assumed that the camera angle during slow-mo was on purpose. If the camera angle were predictable, it would make it too easy.

When I am trying to get an after-touch takedown, it would be great if the camera were always from the front...but that might only last a few seconds, and I need to remember what is going on when the angle switches, and I need to make the correction in my head to say 'well, I was going right, but now I need to change that to back'.

I thought it made it more challenging, and more fun.

I'm guessing you don't have an Xbox, and are just making excuses as to why you wouldn't want one.

I have a stereo too. But my stereo doesn't mix my game sounds with the music. (I *could* do this, if I really wanted to, but by the time I mix two sources, getting the balancing correct would be a pain)

When I hit 'pause' my music won't pause at the same time if it was on my stereo.

Burnout starts a song at the beginning of a race, which is nice - I could do this with my stereo too...but that would require me to dick with the remote.

Yes, you could be playing on a poor man's Xbox (PS2 with your stereo) and you still won't have it nearly as good.

My issue is that it is so black and white. The refrain I hear all too often is that a person is no longer willing to deal with a company (or person) because of a single transgression on their complicated set of rules.

What more socially successful people understand, is that the world is not black and white. The world is much more complex. Possibly you don't like one or more aspects of a certain person or other entity (company for instance) but you understand that the positives of the interaction will outweigh the negatives.

Once you begin to see the world in an uncompromising manner, you will become more and more isolated.

I've been playing games for about 30 years- and whenever I pick up a collection of 'treasures', I play for about 5 minutes before thinking "what a steaming pile of crap this game is."

I like progress. I've played Asteroids till my hemorroids flared up. I've played text adventures until my fingers turned blue. I'm a little tired of that stuff.

Now I've moved on to other games, and I like something new...

The whole idea that modern games have no creativity is laughable. Asteroids had creativity? (oooohhh...a small spaceship this time!) I personally think that modern games are much, much better.

Graphics and map size can really make a difference in games. Games could be much more free-form and immersive if there were never any 'breaks' while playing- just roaming a huge environment without any barriers.

I'm sure that's quite a distance off. In the meantime, if they could create maps 4 times larger, that would have rescued Deus Ex 2.

Well, most Xbox users never need to buy the aforementioned memory cards at all. And, we never have to go looking for them...or 'manage' our saves because we don't have enough space.

And, we don't have to listen to the latest EA TRAX music, which probably sucks, because we listen to our own. (One time I mentioned this, someone suggested that he just turns the volume down on his TV, and turns the radio up...umm...what about the effects?)

The list goes on and on.

But one of your main points was that people buy console games, beat them, and then sell them.

Yes...chumps that don't have Xbox Live do that. Because once you beat the game, there is no point in continuing to play.

But if you have a world full of opponents, who can make every game different...well, the replay value just went way, way, way up. The only games I DON'T sell back are the games I like on Live. And of course if it has downloadable content, there is a good chance it has Live multiplayer.

But to me, showboating is just FUN.

Once-upon-a-time, sports were fun. Kids went out and played, and had a good time.

Then other people got involved and told them what they should do, and what they shouldn't do.

Once the fun was gone, they had to find another reason to play. Then it became about winning, and money.

If you put 10 guys together for a basketball game, and just let them play- they'll have a great time. 10 minutes after the game, no matter how hotly contested, nobody remembers who 'won', because it was all about fun.

It's like motorcycles...they used to be about FREEDOM, and FUN. Now they are just about safety. You can't really argue with the 'safety people' because who can be against safety? (and they get very self-righteous about it)? But those people don't have fun. Those are the same people who preach 'sportsmanship'.

People who play games where "it doesn't matter if you win or lose" usually don't have a great butt-load of fun- because that is a concept manufactured by some chickenshits who just couldn't play the game themselves.

Winning is a large part of the game...but when you take away everything else, it becomes the ONLY part of the game.

I belong to the "stay out of my life, and I'll stay out of yours" school of thought. And if someone wants to showboat...freakin' let them.

(This excuse is MOSTLY bullshit)

#2- Something like the Halo 2 launch was more of a 'convention of nerds' than an actual product launch. We got to hang out with other geeks, and see who else in town was lame enough to actually wait around for a video game. You can read about the launch party in my town.

#3- the cachet of just having been there. When people ask me "do you have Halo 2?" I can say "I've had Halo 2 since 12:01 on November 9"
