    Giving RIGHTS to use your software and even change it and give others rights to do the same are saving some industries and organisations including charities..BILLIONS. That's what I call charity enabling others to get their jobs done without the hindrince of ridculous licensing schemes and activation codes and calling call centres halfway round the globe.     I've spent countless hours of Windows TM downtime through trying to troubleshoot problems or installing the most basic of software.
    Total cost of ownership since '95 I reckon around 17,000 uk pounds.

    (Based on an average per year direct software Windows TM cost of 200 uk pounds + a MODEST 2 hours per week downtime for 10 years at 15 pounds per hour.)

    Actually I think you will find that the scottish police force make up approximately 0.000246% of the total world population a not unsignificant sum on the world scale of things.

    Assuming 6 1/2 billion people and 16000 Scottish police officers (excluding admin).

    Yes finally most car makers install deadlocks and engine immobilisers as standard, it took them years of people complaining about lack of security before they finally did something about it. I wonder how long it will take Cisco?

    This is not just about prices but about free trade across EU member countries.
    iTunes insistance that UK credit cards are invalid in other iTunes stores e.g. France and Germany where prices are cheaper amounts to a restriction in trade. This is illegal under EU trading laws.

    P2P users could relay and share realtime TV transmissions anywhere.

    P2P PCs with a TV/Cable/Sat tuner card could act as an audiovisual feed/seed.
    Viewers search the network by channel or even by programme name for someone already tuned into a channel and also act as broadcast relay for other viewers.
    Some P2P feeds could also allow users to freely channel hop to a desired TV station when the TC card is not in active use.
    Super P2P servers could also cache channels or programmes for timeshifted viewing.

    Unless the RFID tags are embedded in their skulls, then they can also be "lost, traded, broken, etc".
    The real convenience is that the student doesn't have to make any effort to register in or out but to just ensure that they remember to carry their tag.
    What happens with a faulty tag?
    Will a student suffer a poor attendance record without recourse?
    After all they might not find out until the end of year school report.

    Wouldn't a long trip without the prospect of seeing friends and family for 4 years (assume 2 years each way) with lack of light and natural exercise plus the fact of being stuck with the same people cause depressive like symtoms in the astronauts.
    E.g. Oversleeping, loss of appetite, general tiredness etc.
    Would these symtoms actually be useful for a long Mars like trip or would it backfire with the astronauts freaking out?
    Perhaps studies carried out of prisoners kept in near isolation with a borderline diet could give some pointers as to what to expect.

    True the complex is underground, people can still make calls in the cinema reception area and the rest of the shopping complex which I dare say is more like 20m underground. Maybe that's the best way, use low tech engineering rather than laws and social pressure to silence mobile users.

    E.g. UGC chain at Les Halles seems to of got phone jamming right.
    The walls are so thick with concrete that no signal gets through. Infact you probably need to switch your mobiles off otherwise you'll drain the batteries as your phone desperately tries to find a signal.

    Think about it, you now own part of a search company who's money comes from clicked adverts. Regardless of interest wouldn't you click on the ads to ensure constant revenue???
