Giving RIGHTS to use your software and even change it and give others rights to do the same are saving some industries and organisations including charities..BILLIONS.
That's what I call charity enabling others to get their jobs done without the hindrince of ridculous licensing schemes and activation codes and calling call centres halfway round the globe.
MS Certified Lacky.
I've spent countless hours of Windows TM downtime through trying to troubleshoot problems or installing the most basic of software. Total cost of ownership since '95 I reckon around 17,000 uk pounds.
(Based on an average per year direct software Windows TM cost of 200 uk pounds + a MODEST 2 hours per week downtime for 10 years at 15 pounds per hour.)
Actually I think you will find that the scottish police force make up approximately 0.000246% of the total world population a not unsignificant sum on the world scale of things.
Assuming 6 1/2 billion people and 16000 Scottish police officers (excluding admin).
Yes finally most car makers install deadlocks and engine immobilisers as standard, it took them years of people complaining about lack of security before they finally did something about it.
I wonder how long it will take Cisco?
So what it's of no concern what so ever to HP what end users do with their equipment illegal or otherwise.
Perhaps this will put pressure on MS to release a version of their OS at a REALISTIC price that the Chinese market will bear.
This is not just about prices but about free trade across EU member countries. iTunes insistance that UK credit cards are invalid in other iTunes stores e.g. France and Germany where prices are cheaper amounts to a restriction in trade. This is illegal under EU trading laws. There's an article today about iTunes overcharging UK customers on the BBC news website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4065539.stm
P2P users could relay and share realtime TV transmissions anywhere.
P2P PCs with a TV/Cable/Sat tuner card could act as an audiovisual feed/seed. Viewers search the network by channel or even by programme name for someone already tuned into a channel and also act as broadcast relay for other viewers. Some P2P feeds could also allow users to freely channel hop to a desired TV station when the TC card is not in active use. Super P2P servers could also cache channels or programmes for timeshifted viewing.
Unless the RFID tags are embedded in their skulls, then they can also be "lost, traded, broken, etc". The real convenience is that the student doesn't have to make any effort to register in or out but to just ensure that they remember to carry their tag. What happens with a faulty tag? Will a student suffer a poor attendance record without recourse? After all they might not find out until the end of year school report. "...it must be true because the computer says so."

Wouldn't a long trip without the prospect of seeing friends and family for 4 years (assume 2 years each way) with lack of light and natural exercise plus the fact of being stuck with the same people cause depressive like symtoms in the astronauts. E.g. Oversleeping, loss of appetite, general tiredness etc. Would these symtoms actually be useful for a long Mars like trip or would it backfire with the astronauts freaking out? Perhaps studies carried out of prisoners kept in near isolation with a borderline diet could give some pointers as to what to expect.
I'm just waiting for a digitally enhanced version of John Carpenter's "Dark Star". When that movie receives a Star Wars nip'n'tuck then my life will be complete.
True the complex is underground, people can still make calls in the cinema reception area and the rest of the shopping complex which I dare say is more like 20m underground.
Maybe that's the best way, use low tech engineering rather than laws and social pressure to silence mobile users.
E.g. UGC chain at Les Halles seems to of got phone jamming right. The walls are so thick with concrete that no signal gets through. Infact you probably need to switch your mobiles off otherwise you'll drain the batteries as your phone desperately tries to find a signal.
What with all those investors clicking away on any google ads that appear, gotta keep revenues up!
Think about it, you now own part of a search company who's money comes from clicked adverts. Regardless of interest wouldn't you click on the ads to ensure constant revenue???

Hey
I think these guys have been making and settling international trades with computers long before '97.
Don't fret I think we've been storing data on biodegradable media which can last for thousands of years if stored right.... it's called paper.

Have you ever tried flying with Virgin? After watching the safety video I was terrified. It's BA from now on.

Tax around 30p per liter, I think it's classed as biodiesel hence is discounted from the usual rate of over 50p pl duty. http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,3604,878122,0 0.html

Of course you can do this already in the UK, just don't forget to pay your fuel duty/tax to use it.
For 10 years now most new devices are plug and play. When will they get round to making keyboards that are truely pnp??
Auto detecting the country code for the keyboard would be a start nevermind multimedia and internet keys.
The "coming soon" sometime in autumn promised freebie option for standard Hotmail will be 250mb, 10mb per e-mail.

Apple all you do is talk talk! Na nee na doo doo.
Think 80's pop.
Look on the bright side, this will drive down the prices in the secondhand market.
*That's if Apple can keep up with demand.
