That's a bad idea, and a misleading one at that. It would show how "horrific" executions are in order to sway public opinion against capital punishment.

In the civilized world, we know that the death of another person is wrong. But sometimes, exceptions must be made for those who've renounced their humanity voluntarily and commit egregious crimes. It doesn't mean that we have to be barbaric in the process of carrying out an execution however.

I'm a firm believer that the death penalty should be quick and painless in a civilized manor. Gore need not apply.

Secondly, these soldiers didn't even take the time to properly identify their target, and then some. They committed actions of great dishonor. They should be shunned (and punished) by their fellow citizens. Soldiers should also be praised when they serve their country well. Clearly, they did not in this incident.

The only reasonable goal at autonomy is by displacing the Taliban and laying the groundwork for a future, viable civilization. The general idea is that idle hands = bad. If we can help them help themselves to working a 1 Trillion Dollar industry, that could (in theory) provide a level of civil stability currently enjoyed by capitalist nations (including China). If that happens, that's far less money we would have to spend on the Afgan theater of war.
