One of the damping feed-backs in the war loop is the ugliness and brutality of it. That loop needs more, not fewer, negative feed-backs. Further depersonalization and sterilization of war may incentivize the decision to engage in it.
That would work for the defender, but not the offender. It was the media that killed our ability to win Vietnam. Had such mass media been available in the 1940s, I'm sure we would have never defeated the Nazi's after the mass casualties at Normandy. Yet, we dropped two bombs on Japan to end the war and that was "ok" with much cheer and celebration. Granted, it did end the war effectively and was projected to save many more lives in the long run. Regardless, I hope you see the point that was being made.

Right now, I have access to all of the aforementioned items through the Internet. No probing required on my part.

However, Blu-Ray disks only support up to 25GB per layer. In theory, an octo-layer disk would make that 200GB total. Toshiba though is talking about 1TB of space on something the size of postage stamp. That's quite game changer if I ever saw one. Having fast I/O is also a nice bonus.
Perhaps consoles will never make it back to cartridge format because disks are so much cheaper to mass produce. But if someone can put this technology into an SSD drive at a reasonable price point, I'll be dropping one in my PS3, laptop, and desktop workstation. While were at it, maybe a few servers too.

For some, it's pure survival. Having an economy and using currency is just a more refined social process of the barter system.
Apparently a company called Data Recovery Services claim the ability to recover lost data in SSD format. Not sure how they do it exactly, but I imagine it involving some de-soldering of chips and replacement of new parts on the PCB.
