    I personally know of a few people who purchased Mopeds and Hogs. When push comes to shove, Americans will seek alternative transporation that matches the freedom of a car. But to hell with walking and riding a bike. You only do that shit for recreation in this country...or you're piss poor.

    Modern rape is a violent crime assaulting another recognized person... in old times, it was a non-violent crime of property damage.

    Rape and promiscuity are two different things. The difference is that one act goes against the consent of an individual while the other is mutual.

    Regardless of time periods in human history, rape is often emotionally and/or physically disturbing to the victim.

    No, contraception has nothing to do with it. Two seperate issues here.

    In some cultures, rape is a form of promiscuity. As such, a forced bond in marrage is for the citizens and *not* for the victim or rapest. For them to not be married would be a dishonor to the rest of the people.

    Contraception was generally forbidden as it would interfere with Gods plan of procreation. Only He should decide whether or not to bless a couple with children. In the eyes of catholicism, contraception is somewhat of a sin.

    None of this is my POV. I'm just providing an explanation of these issues for what it's worth.

    So, riddle me this... Why was Saddam trying to acquire 500 tons of yellowcake from Niger when he already had more than that much in his possession?

    To resell it, bargin with it, keep it for the intimidation factor... Who the hell knows what his motive was. But ask yourself this. Would you really feel much safer knowing that Saddam had access to this stuff? I wouldn't.

    When someone passed broadband in favor of dialup, it's often because they don't want their e-mail address changed if it's being provided by the ISP. It's just too much hastle keeping all of your family and friends up to date on the new address.

    Personally, I never use my ISP account as the primary. It's GMail with IMAP support all the way.

    No, not really. In fact, they should be praised for making this wise decision.

    Hey, no one or orginization is perfect. Shit happens due to human error. But at least their owning up to the problem. But if I were Sony, I would also send out a letter of apology to every PS3 user inbox. Also, I would ensure those effected would be taken care of at no cost to them and even have credit to download a game or two free for their troubles. That would be the proper PR move to make IMHO.

    PS3s have USB ports and the built in OS lets you back up your saved data easily to them.

    Which is a good thing.

    The user doesn't need to worry about the OS, console settings, or other such stuff. All that is important is having the ability to backup *user* data. Everything else can be a wipe/reload on the console as far as I'm concerned. It wouldn't bother me in the least.

    Oh hell, this would shut down the entire fucking state!

    Don't want to break the law but work in IT? Shut down the servers and start passing out pin and paper. All calculations will take place with personal calculators. After all, we can't touch the data without a PI license.

    You can thank your fellow citizens for voting straight party ticket and not the qualified individules as it should be. Until that changes, there will always be a "Political Cast" in America. You're born, raised, and bequeathed the power from previous family members. You know, like the Bush's, Clinton's, Kennedy's etc.

    At this moment in time, we're all just a bunch of plebs where our own opinions and desires don't amount to diddly-squat. A vote for McCain or Obama alone isn't going to change that.

    As hardware evolves much of the functionality of the driver moved into firmware eg. hard disk drives and graphics cards.

    I'm not sure I understand.

    Hard disk drive firmware is for low-level functionality of the device itself. The rest just is so the BIOS can interface with it via IDE, SCSI, or SATA etc. Regardless, the OS never talks directly to the hard disk chipset to perform read/write operations. This has always been the case to by knowledge with regards to x86 PC architecture.

    As for video cards; its firmware is only to support the most basic of VESA functions and pre boot POST. A software driver has and will continue to be needed for direct access to the advanced GPU feature sets. Again, nothing new here.

    Well actually, Hell Gate was the "unofficial" Diablo 3. Basically, it was a FPS that takes place in the future where magic meets technologies and the combination thereof. An awsome concept, except EA botched the whole development. Anyone who's played it will tell you how bad the performance is, level detail feels redundant, and over all "alpha-ish". Sad too, because I really wanted to like this game.

    DU has been show to be a factor in Gulf War Syndrome.

    So has the anthrax vaccine and chimical weapons (mustard/sarin gas). Or perhaps a combination of all three. But I wouldn't go so far as to single out just DU. Regardless, there is no definitive answer as to what caused the Gulf War Syndrome to this day.

    The cheapest wireless Sonicwall router (TZ 150) goes for arround $300. And that's not including all of the yearly subscriptions you can add on too such as anti-spyware/virus filtering. Besides, Sonicwall GUIs are so user-unfriendly.

    I'm sorry, but I can't recommend any Sonicwall device for a home user or someone with little to no previous router/networking knowledge. Great products for the office however.

    I've got a better one for you.

    Environmentalists are restricting the US from drilling in and around our own country. But, the demand will never change. Ironically, all they are doing is shifting the burden of oil extraction and refinement to other countries. I seriously doubt these other countries will do a better job than the US at looking after the environment too.

    Can we all say togeather now "one step forward, two steps back"?

    The SunSpider bencharks reveal that the 64bit IE vs 32bit IE is 18.7% faster in Vista 64. I'm willing to bet the ratio is the same with XP 64bit too.

    Anyone know when there will be a 64bit Flash plugin?

    Face it, if you leech of someone else wireless connection without their explicit verbal or written consent, it's theft. End of story! Why? Because you would otherwise be depriving them of quality of service. They paid for broadband, they should get it.

    Your logic runs more along the lines of taking the garden hose from the side of your neighbor's house to water your lawn. Just because it's freely accessible doesn't mean you have the right to use it. Until you've been given permission, LEAVE-IT-THE-FUCK-ALONE. It's not yours to use!!!

    We are describing someone enter the wifi connection and use it to connect to the internet, NOT take other things.

    Except internet bandwidth is what's being stolen. Say you have some grand parents in their 80s. They bought a wireless router and set it up the best they could. It works, but with not WEP or WPA security. Just wide open. Now imagine some punk next door is leeching off their connection with uTorrent, watching porn, and blowing out spyware with his zombie infected shitbox for a PC.

    At this point, you can imagine your grand parents broadband connection has slowed to crawling 14.4kbps modem connection.

    But no, some of you on Slashdot still don't think its theft do you?
