    See: Overclocked PCs, Helicopters, Jet Engine, extractor fan, air conditioner, Vacuum cleaner...

    None of these applications have blades that are acoustically optimized either with the exception of some CPU HS Fans and military copters.

    I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility that the Moller's "thing" could be engineered to be more quite.

    Well, if you're fortunate enough to have the cell phone yakker sitting directly in front of you; kick the back of their seat hard...really HARD! If by chance they turn around to look, give them the "evil eye" as though you're going to kick their ass. Remember, don't imagine it. You must be willing to follow through with the ass-kicking should it be needed.

    So far, this method works every time I've tried it. Whoever said violence doesn't solve anything can blow me!

    I've installed plenty of drivers for on-board NICs. So far, just about every Gigabit chipset contained "Hardware Checksumming" or some veriance to offload "TCP/IP Tx and Rx". Suck examples include Intel, Broadcom, and Marvell. I'm not sure, but I think Realtek provides this function too.

    If you have a 100Mbit NIC, there's a very good chance it doesn't have this feature unless it's Broadcom or Intel based.

    I'm not a biologist. But even I remembered the basics from health class. Part of digesting is to break down the food you eat, yes. However, what can, will be absorbed into your blood stream.

    Whether or not these bovine and fowl hormones affect Homo sapiens is an entirely different discussion. But I wouldn't doubt they still have some effect on us in ways. The whole "unintended consequence" thing is a real bitch, aint it?

    I envy you! Last time I tried that, I had a VERY short fuse. If you even looked at me the wrong way. No...if I even THOUGHT you looked at me the wrong way, I would rip your head off with my hands. I felt sorry for my co-workers who put up with my BS. :(

    That afternoon after a few days of that torture, I inhaled my next full blown meal. I vowed never to try this "diet" ever again for my sanity, and the safety of others around me.

    True. But it should be noted that it's better to use a super charger vs. turbo on an I-4 (four cylinders). First, it's cheaper and more reliable. Second, you will benefit from the extra torque in everyday driving. With a turbo charger, you don't start making power till mid to high RPMs. Oh ya, and the turbo lag thing sucks ass with a small engine. Because of the aforementioned, turbo charging is the perfect application for a V-8 or I-6 block as you've already got the torque to start with and extra exhaust flow to spool up the turbine.

    While it's true that a super charger system is parasitic (takes HP to make more HP), this is only true under load. Modern super charger kits have a waste gate so your compressor isn't always under load.

    Awww fuck it!!! Who are we kidding? Some people are destined to be ditch diggers and trash men. Why do we (as a society) keep pretending everyone can climb the ivory tower?

    Hey, I'm all for compassion and giving every child a chance. But we can't force someone to be someone they don't want to be. Maybe when they get older and learn the hard lessons in life, they can come back to school for more serious educational reform.

    Agreed! Symantec NAV sucks ass nowadays.

    While Trend Micro is known to be good, my faith in it has been shattered when I cleaned up a web server that was infected with some unknown virus. It was so nasty, that it disabled the Trend Micro services!!!

    Because I use AVG Free at home (and has always prevented infections), I decided to download and install the 30 day trial of AVG for file servers. Needless to day, it found the viri and purged them.

    I think I'm on day 8 of the trial period without further incident. Because the trial version of F-Prot also failed, I fairly certain we will go with AVG.

    Those cables are used for power and data.

    You also may have noticed a mobile frame on casters that surround the robot. Most of the time, I'm sure they connect this robot to a harness so it doesn't fall down. We're not talking about pride here. When your robot falls and breaks something, that shit gets expensive!

    Basically, this is like a child riding a bike with training wheels. Just because they are there doesn't mean they're being used all the time at that given moment.

    Diesels look to be on the verge of a very big comeback, and a lot of money is being dumped into these efficient petrochemical engines.

    Wake me up when Mazda comes out with a turbo-diesel rotary (Wankel) engine. There's nothing like high RPMs with a nice torque curve.

    Or maybe powering up the drives off and on is more stressful to the components; say in a desktop environment. With servers racked up, the drives are always spinning with near constant thermal conditions.

    Actually, this religious dogma of "uncleanliness" has its roots in past health experiences. It's well known that humans will get infected from pig meet unless it's cooked very well from a wild source. Even if they're domesticated, the risk is just too high. Also, some forms of shell fish are dangerous too unless cooked well.

    In the past, both Jews and Muslims were not knowledgeable in biology. What they did know however is that there's a "cause and effect". So rather trying to explain the science behind these issues, it was a lot simpler to tell your followers that "this is bad hmmm k, don't eat it". And so, the words enshrouded in religion because ever entrenched into their daily lives.

    While religion has killed many lives through conflict, no doubt it also saved many lives.

    I remember reading about a P-38 Lightning called "Glacier Girl" (WW2 fighter plane) that crash landed on a glacier in Greenland around 1942. What was interesting was that it was buried under 268 feet of ICE when found in 1988!!! That's a lot of ice to be formed in just 46 years!

    Ya, I'd say glacial growth is very under estimated.
