A Flu Pandemic?
·
· Score: 1
Be that it may be, I'm paranoid about eating chicken these days and thus I won't eat it. Call it unfounded ignorance on my part, I don't care....I call paranoia a primal form of survival. It's worked in the past, and with a flu like this, I will embrace my fear and listen to it.
Due Process - just like all those people at Gitmo, right?
For the last bloody time, terrorist are not entitled to due process according to the Geneva Convention! Read it for yourself. You can see they fail to adhere to parts B, C, and D.
PART I
GENERAL PROVISIONS
Article 4
A. Prisoners of war, in the sense of the present Convention, are persons belonging to one of the following categories, who have fallen into the power of the enemy:
1. Members of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict as well as members of militias or volunteer corps forming part of such armed forces.
2. Members of other militias and members of other volunteer corps, including those of organized resistance movements, belonging to a Party to the conflict and operating in or outside their own territory, even if this territory is occupied, provided that such militias or volunteer corps, including such organized resistance movements, fulfill the following conditions:
(a) That of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates;
(b) That of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance;
(c) That of carrying arms openly;
(d) That of conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war.
I agree. And yes, I did say "extremists". I'm not saying that all that practice the faith of Islam are violent people, but right now most of the worlds violence is stemming from its radical faction. I honestly don't know how much longer it will last, but violence in the middle eastern region has been going on for thousands of year.
We can only hope that once freedom and democratic governments take the place of a benevolent theocrocy, these factions will wither away and die off. For now, the taste of power and control by those who seek offers a promissing future then to sit on the sidelines and live in poverty.
Actually, the Bush Administration did a lot of things right, and a lot of things wrong. To say they've only did one thing right is a bit unfair don't you think?
Your kidding right? Do you even know anything about Islam? The word itself means to "submit ones self" as translated. To practice islam, is to show your devotion through self inflicted hardship as a sacrifice to prove devotion to Allah. Basically, to be happy and enjoy life is seen as a form of hubris due to a lack of personal attention to him (per islamic extremists).
I think the biggest problem we have in the US is that we are so consumed with our daily lives due to overworking ourselves to death (literally, stress and bad diet are the leading cause of heart failure). As a result of our complacency and auto-trust into government and our elected officials, rarely are they kept in check in regards to what they do in office. And, this applies to both our political parties inside the beltway of Washington DC. We just hear their speeches and lap it up like gravy. Yet at the same time, we rarely do investigations into their past as an elected official. Scary yet, most Americans vote strait ballot! Hell, I've done it in the 2000 elections. How fucking stupid I was when I look back on my actions. Worse yet, MOST people themselves haven't awoken to these realizations themselves.
Result: We are headed down the wrong path. Question is, how hard is it going to bite us in the ass before we turn our lives around and start caring about whom and why officials are getting elected.
We have no one else to blame but ourselves. We've chosen to entrust our government implicitly as a society and now the chickens of governmental corruption has come home to roost.
Now, let's wake up and turn off the fucking auto-pilot people!!! We have too many right wing AND left wing whacko in office. They need to be cleaned out of DC and replaced with fresh blood that has proven to actually give a damn.
Europe also has a much higher unemployment rate. That's that happens when you hand over personal control to the government bought and paid for by your tax dollars.
I trust myself more then I will ever trust the government to secure my future.
-- Hoping for $8.00 a gallon gas or higher. Love it when SUV owners whine like babies at the pump.
Perhaps you were just being funny. But incase you are arn't, may I remind you that the price of gas depends on two factors. 1. how much can be refined with demand. 2. the price of crude. The historic raise in gas prices are fixed to the price of crude. So when you start seeing $8 for a gallon of gas, expect your cost of living to rise in everything else. And if your lucky, the company you still work for will still have enough money to keep you employeed.
You've been warned. BECAREFULL for what you wish for!!!!
Note: we live in an ecconomy hedged on cheap energy.
I'm an MSCE, and I want to slap THAT MSCE who said that to you. Seriously, who the fuck cares. Software use should always be about the right tool for the right job. The moment you start putting "faith" or "cult" into judgement, we start to have a serious problem!
That sucks. On the bright side however, if we slashdot the "SlashSat", it will burn bright in a ball of fire as it come crashing down to earth in a blaze of glory. =)
Ok guys and gals, is there anything we can do at Slashdot to pool togeather some money and have one built? I'm willing to donate up to $100. I would love to see everyone donate money to have a Slashdot Sat put into space along with the names of those who contribute. Also, I would love to have access to the Sat for shits and grins.
What can it be used for? does it matter? The fact I can access a Sat that can later be upgraded with software totally turns me on!
The AC is correct. The fastest, last AGP card from ATI was the X850 XT PE. If you want anything faster or new, it's only offered in PCI-E. To be frank, this pisses me off. There is a whole market with people running fast CPUs and DDR 3200 memory that do NOT want to swap out their motherboard. I cannot imagine why in the hell the current crop of video chipset cannot handle the bandwidth provided by AGP 8x. I mean, clearly there is a market for AGP cards.
I'm sorry, but I will not swap out my CPU and motherboard just so I can install faster cards only available in PCI-E.
This will backfire on Sony. Right now, we have China and Korean companies in the same market that Sony is in. The LAST thing Sony needs is bad PR. Once the momentum of bad rap start hitting your average joe, it's over...hands down.
Just look at AOL and Dell. Their customer service and product support has sucked for the past few years, and now it has come to bite them in the ass. It will take a long time (several years at best) to change the momentum of how the public sees them. Untill that changes, AOL will have the rap for Always Off Line, and Dell will be seen with shitty tech support outsourced that is basically useless.
As for Sony, they will be seen in the public as DRM Nazis. NOT a good image to have right now. It could very well doom while Apple continues to gobble up their market share.

Hey...so Duke Nukem Forever will come out after all?!
I'm willing to bet that "Trusted Computing" will be implimented in the new SP3 for XP.
***money get's passed around the slashdot crowd***
Damn, I should be a bookie.

What's interesting is M$ is consenting to it???
Microsoft wants to be known as a service provider, not a product seller. You see, products can be resold but services cannot.
For those of us that haven't a clue about what this is all about, mind filling the rest of us in?

That's not science, that's philosophy. If something is supernatural, it's outside the realm of science by definition.
At best, ID is *hypothesis* and NOT a theory. Regardless how you debate it, the idea still follows it's course through the Scientific Meathod.
Yes, some hypothesizes are born from philosophic thinking.
Look at their president for pete's sake - he's barely able to communicate on a 3 year old level.
Is Kerry really smarter then Bush?.

It's a political term for "trump card" or "Ace". It's the last stand if you will that either makes it or breaks the deal.
SCO is sooo stupid. Everyone knows Linus will skip right to 2.8 just to spite SCO.
Ha ha

Act now!!! You too can have your very own 12" dick printed with the highest quality of resolution....
Ya, it's true. Only for those that want cheese with their whine.
It's only legal if the law is enforced. Hence, you need military presence that represents you as a citizen legal to take ownership of said land.
This guys is full of it, he doesn't own jack shit.
Speaking of that video card...if you live in Austin, someone is selling theirs for $50. Damn! http://austin.craigslist.org/sys/109416344.html
