    If your going to promote freedom and liberation to those who are opressed, do NOT bite off more then you can chew. The war in Iraq and Afghanistan were worthy causes IMHO. As for China though, we can't take them on nor would we. Dealing with China is going to take a different stratagy.

    1. China breaks out into civil war and start a revolution.

    2. Through liberation, we gain more allies needed to put the pressure on China in this grand tug-of-war on freedom vs totalitarianism.

    3.Fuck it: Lets just lob nukes and have God sort it out.

    I really REALLY don't want to see #3 happen.

    What you're advocating is a controlled "bomb". No seriously, do the math and you will find the energy density is rather tight.

    BTW, I used to work at Dell in the safety division. I've seen video footage of laptop batteries explode. Now mind you, these were 3rd party batteries people of bought off e-bay and the like. So technically, these issues are NOT cause by Dell. None the less, it is something to be concerned about.

    Very interesting! So I guess the P4 was designed the way it was because Intel thought it would scale well to increase in clock speed in the future. And though the P3 design is more efficient, it does NOT scale well and thus they thought it had a limited future. I guess they were wrong.

    Try turning up the volume on the iPod and adjust your amp accordingly. Now you should be getting "base fade". It sounds like the iPod just doesn't have enough capacitor to sustain continous base. But, if the volume on the ipod is set to it's minimum (low enough not to drop out of it's rated SNR) then "base fade" should not be an issue.

    You couldn't be more wrong. And I should know the facts on this issue. I was an employee for Sempra Energy in the Houston TX branch office back in 1998-2000. The main office of course is based in San Diego CA. Basically, we dealed in the market of deregulated energy, setting up contracts for the retrofit of lighting, and HVAC system for building owners to save energy.     Lower taxes is only cures the symptoms, not the cause. Sure, raising taxes will reduce and even reverse debt. However, less income for families means more dependance on government...which will require even more tax dollars to support and staff the government to provide those service.

    See a trend? It's a downword spiral of transfering the power and responsibilty from the people to the government. Worst case scenario, we turn into a nation of communism.

    Honestly, I think what needs to happen is another ecconomic depression in order to set into motion a wake-up call and change our culture on how to save and spend properly. And, we may not be too far from it...

    I'm far from wealthy. But I'm happy to say that I'm clear out of debt. So there is something positive for having a surplus of income regardless how little it is. I've just learned I had to live withen my means.

    I can't afford the latest "bling bling", but I'm far more happy to know I don't have to deal with the daily stress of debt (debt is such a vile word to me).

    For one thing, there is no "free market place". A totally free market would be anarchy. Without government intervention, there would be no TV, radio, Wi-Fi, etc., because there would be no standards set and enforced. Every industrialized country has an equivalent to our FCC, for good reason.
    I agree. Thus I concede to your point of view regarding standardization.
    Second, the broadcast flag and other DRM measures have little to do with the government. These are initiatives by private corporations, who want to maximize their profit. The only reason the FCC is agreeing to it is 1) because the content providers want it, and 2) the current FCC under Michael Powell is corrupt.
    I call bullshit on this one. It's the government that legally backs up and enforces the penalties for breaking the law regarding "digital theft". Your have your cartels such as the RIAA and MPAA to thank for this.
    Had such laws and cartels not be in place, there would be self industry reform and paradigm shifts to reflect current public trends on how to effectively do business without the legal restrictions of government.
    And if you want to get political about it, let's talk about the DMCA signed under Bill Clinton shall we?
