Austin has UT; an endless stream STEM grads that will work as intern. Companies will hire and flush year after year. It's *free* labor and the grads get experience before leaving the back to where they came from. For entry level work, just forget about it! Those jobs don't pay. In fact, in the future you might have to pay the company just for experience.
The critique is fair, but you honestly think a simple wide and narrow plastic spring loaded flap is a "complicated mechanism"?? It would be easy to flip down via a protruding tab that you can push with either the index or middle finger; all in a split second to see what's below you. But, whatever.
The simple solution would just be a physical redesign of the mask portion in that the bottom of the eye pieces have a cutout with mirrors arranged to put the keyboard into view. It wouldn't be too distracting if at all, but it might break the immersive suspension of disbelief while playing. If so, perhaps a small spring loaded flap that you can flip down to take a peek now and then to what's below.
Has this always been the case?? I was real interested in car audio back in the mid 90s (93-96). To my recollection, Alpine and Kenwood were the gold standard followed by JVC (digifine series), Pioneer, Panasonic, Sony, and Blaupunkt. Obviously I'm way out of loop on this, so I'm glad you chimed in.
In your opinion, what brand of head units are worth looking into? Or, is it all cheap crap now?
You must be running 10.6 for testing purposes, right? I just built a 10.10 VM in Fusion 7. Actually I created a new VM, then let it boot off a physical bootable flash drive via mapped USB port. Works like a champ with VMWare tools installed (for improved video performance).
This. But prior to that, organize e-mails into another folder that's pertinent to the job. Or, if it's easier just delete your personal e-mail. Never mix and match business with personal stuff. Though when it happens, drop it into a folder that you can later export and delete off the server. But at the end of the day, you'll want to walk away and leave nothing but business related content in your mailbox.
Parents in law (elderly, knows nothing about computers) home with a cable modem and ZTE brand Wireless router. I suspect their ISP with almost certainty.
No, no you really don't want the Chinese spying on you. I had my GMail account hacked when I was last in Shanghai. I suspect a MITM attack via the default port 443 traffic from my iPhone. I didn't log into any website or use a PC; and my password is really complex and lengthy with a mix of numbers, special characters, and capitalization.
And this was GOOGLE!!! Anything else secure is a cakewalk to hack for them.
Starting with the 2015 MBP units, the internal SSD drives bench around 1300MB/s in reads. I presume they're using the new M.2 SSD standard.
Apple will provide the performance, but you have to play by its rules. If you want a open system, you'll have to build your own or a Windows based business laptop for a comparible price/performance target and install your own OS of choice. I think some newer PC motherboards offer an M.2 slot or two. You can also drop in a PCIe SSD card too if you must bust way past SATA3 speeds.
America could burn 5x as much oil and still be cleaner than China by orders of magnitude. So if you truly care about the wellbeing of people, you'll promptly STFU because CO2 isn't a toxic threat!
I was very much looking forward to the Alpine iLX-007 when it was announced. But at $800 MSRP ($599 at Crutchfield), you do NOT get Bluetooth, CD playback, or 24bit with advanced EQ options. You must route your own cable to wherever your phone will be placed as a direct connection is required for iPhone. And to make matters worse, it's NOT iOS animation or expectant experience in a dash. It looks like it would be, but trust me, it's not. TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!!! Last I checked, a local BestBuy had one up on display. To be perfectly honest, it felt "cheap".
About that "cheap" comment. All dash receivers are like that. Even some of the LEDs are known to burn out or fade after year usage. 99% of the inside of the double-DIN units are pure air. It's amazing how much they cramp into a tiny surface mounted PCB these days. Plenty of tear-downs online; it's not like the units made in the mid to early 90s. Major differences in component and IC consolidation of functionality.
My next upgrade will be the Alpine CDE-W265BT instead for my 2010 RAV4. I'm done waiting for CarPlay devices unless the next rev offers BlueTooth connectivity and improved iOS look/feel and multi touch-screen technology. In fact, I wouldn't mind in the slightest of Apple themselves made a double-DIN unit.
TRIM will only work in Apple branded SSD drives. The "hack" clears out a portion of the driver in OSX to treat all attached drives as TRIM enabled if the feature exists; and it does with Intel, Samsung, OCZ drives etc. In addition, Apple will not allow 3rd party SATA drivers. This means Samsung and Intel can't release apps to manually TRIM a drive.
Not sure about elsewhere, but about 7 years ago or so, China's customs agents would scan everyone passing through Pudong Airport with a infra thermometer mounted on the ceiling. A reading is taken when you step on the designated waiting line. The number is recorded and off you go. Not sure what happens when the temp is high, but I'm guessing quarantined followed by questions.
Yellow Dog Linux, or any OS version isn't going to be available for PS3. Just get that out of your head right now! It's been rehashed to death, Sony took flak, and they didn't back down. Unless there are a few units that haven't had their firmware updated already, it ain't ever gonna happen! Firmware killed by design.
Bullshit. Apple rebranded drives and RAM are expensive because they can get away from it. Pure and simple.
Did you know that unless the a SATA SSD drive is tagged as Apple, TRIM doesn't get enabled. There were hacks to re-enable it up until Yosemite started signing device drivers. It's still possible to hack the OS, but each time a major update installed, you have to go into some recovery mode to hack it again. In short, a huge fucking PITA!!!
I'm guessing this is his emotional response in which logic doesn't apply.
More than likely, he was already paranoid about job instability which lead him to seek out a unionized government job in the first place. It's not like his attitude was expected to change after being employed.

Controlled by an RS232 port?? Just run the program under an emulator hosted by a *nix box. Done! Move on.
Update as of today! el capitan (10.11) might offer TRIM support with a disclaimer of dataloss and not to hold Apple accountable for it. Linky below!

Yes, it now belongs to wife. :( So, I just use my MacBook Pro.

MacBook Pro 13", Mid 2012, 2.9Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB Samsung 840 EVO drive. Running latest OSX 10.10.3 with latest build of Fusion 7.

With regards to Yosemite, read about it here https://www.cindori.org/trim-e...

As much as I loved those games, really, Sonic deserves to be in place of WoW.
How is that energy stored initially? Giant capacitor banks, or flywheel to generator?
I disagree with WoW being on the list. All others are legit entries.

I've known several people whom use CCleaner with a scheduled task to automatically scrub browser cache and temp files.
