  1. Gee on Bush Website Blocked Outside N. America · · Score: 1
I'm not sure how that got modded insightful. Could you fathom the idea that there is only a week left until the election and the Republicans don't want to take any chances? It's well known how many zombie computers there are out there, and how anti-Bush the hacker community (especially outside the US) typically is.

How many of the people bitching about this actually went to that site before this article came out? Why do they suddenly care? Because it gives them a reason to bitch about Bush some more and pretend that he's "ignoring the rest of the world."

This wasn't a bad move really. Hackers took a shot at the RNC website when that was going on, what makes anyone think they won't try something like that again, or haven't been doing so for some time? If you're really that obsessed with seeing the site, then go see it next week. You have no influence on the election if you don't live in the US so your desire to see it is really just a desire to bitch about how you can't see it. If it came back online for those of you outside the US you'd just shrug and find something else to do, not go to the site.

The problem with much of the Slashdot crowd and much of the script kiddie hacker community is that deep down the reason they're really upset about this is because they want hackers to take over the site right before the election to try and influence the election. That's why they like Michael Moore's drivel and garbage like it. Those of you pretending to be upset have lost nothing and simply gained another reason to bitch. I'm sure the Republicans are crying over their loss of your support.

When you have this guy up there in the debates whining about how much the war costs, then telling people that we aren't "giving our boys" enough money for body armor, you have someone who doesn't understand how things work.

Either you are for giving more funding to the troops, or you are against it. Kerry voted against it, but then during the debates he seemed pissed that we didn't give them enough. This was before he was pissed that we spent too much (though he overstated the figure by $80 billion).

Don't get me wrong, Bush isn't perfect either. Just don't pretend that this flip flopping thing is without merit. Sometimes I think the guy would get a sex change operation if it would sway some female voters. He tactically stays on the fence on as many issues as he can so as to garner support from both sides.

Except that you are overlooking the entire issue of affirmative action, what it is and why these people support it. Their mindset is that the only poor people that matter are hispanics and blacks, and similarly in doing so they also manage to insinuate that all black or hispanic people are poor. I would imagine that minorities would take offense at this, but I guess nobody wants to turn down handouts. You can't deny that many schools and companies still use race as a factor in admissions or hiring. They get away with it because they are perceived to be helping "the poor" but all they are really doing is creating another injustice based on a racist logical fallacy.

Moreover, you can't even label it as "assisting minorities" because as it turns out Asians do not meet this "poor" stereotype so they are conveniently left out. Yet another gaping hole in their claim that anybody but the white Christian male deserves this assistance.

What they fail to realize is that the common factor in pirating Windows is a computer without Windows, not just computers preloaded with Linux. The fact that these computers are being sold with Linux is just a distraction. Many people build their own computers just so they can pirate Windows and not have to pay the higher price to include the OS. Should we then disparage the selling of separate computer components as conducive to Windows piracy?

This is a huge logical fallacy to imply that Linux has anything to do with these people's intentions. They are trying to save money and so they buy very cheap pre-built computers and pirate Windows.

The biggest changes that I noticed:
    • Ep 4 - Jabba was redone and looks a lot better than in the original special edition. Still obviously CG, but at least it's an improvement and not something worse. Also, Han and Greedo shoot at the same time.
    • Ep 5 - The emperor is now the actual emperor when you see Vader talking to him through the big communicator. Before it was a fugly emperor that looked nothing like the Ep. 6 emperor. Also, they added dialogue about Luke being the son of Anakin Skywalker and yada yada.
    • Ep 6 - At the end, it is Hayden instead of the original Vader guy. They did it well, but that one's left up to personal preference as to whether it's Good or Bad.
