I read a similar story in the SMH today. I strongly suspect what they're saying is that we can not find the skills we need at the price at which we are willing to pay. People are willing to change jobs in a heart beat for a reasonable uplift in pay. Less skilled workers are willing to invest in their education if they see a benefit at the end of it. That's human nature. Unfortunately, I imagine most businesses (especially non tech companies) still see IT solely as a cost and want to drive this down.
What also also not widely realised, and what a lot of people have referred to here in this forum, is that people in this industry sometimes have to work unsociable hours and need to constantly study to stay certified and up to date with current technology. This comes at a cost.
That said, like all industries, there are some shockers out there who give us all a bad name.
Hopefully this will mean they will include more than 2 USB ports, eliminate the use of adapters (integrate all the sound i/o into the case), introduce the faster Core Duo processors (2 and 2.16ghz) and include a memory card reader (standard on all PC laptops these days).
Not to mention that whole superdrive thing...
Personally I'm disappointed that Apple didn't provide the option to buy the 2 and 2.16 ghz processors. I assume they are either saving these for the 17" model or for the next revision when production volumes are sufficient.
Also, what's with rolling a one new model of notebook when you have 3 models in each of your two lines?? To me it would seem likely that there will be another annoucement sometime in the next 3 weeks.
And what about the Mac Minis?? All these rumors of new killer mac mini PVRs and then nothing.
I'll definitely buy one of these new macs when they hit 2/2.16 ghz but until then I'll put up with Windows.
Personally I do not like the iPod nano. I have owned an Ipod mini 4gb since they were released and have been looking for a reason to upgrade. I am disappointed Apple have chosen to kill off the mini form factor. I would have liked to have seen them upgrade the mini to a larger hd (8gig), a colour screen and video output.
I think the iPod phone is a good idea and I hope Nokia get in on this but I hope the headphones and cabling are decent. Last time i tried to use my phone as a music player I found the cord got tangled something crazy.
I've done some research, now griffin were demonstrating this working on the ipod and its rather obvious that they have just taken the some technology and chucked it on a pocket pc rather than it write off. If someone could provide/leak/build the software there would be no reason to use a pocket pc at all!

How are they supposed to blend in with their surroundings in this? Unless your fighting at night it seems kind of useless.
your the kind of person we fear when lending our things out
