How about plumbing? I have heard (not stating fact) that homeowners are not allowed to do any kind of plumbing near the main drain of the house. Only licensed plumbers may do pipe work near there. Even if someone was at one time certified to do so, it is illegal. Would this be a better analogy?

First off, I didn't mod myself as insightful, so don't get all huffy with me for it. Second, the reaction to "majority rules, right or wrong" is taken a little extreme. Valenti was referring to people who build their own TV sets. An analogy might be that your not allowed to build your own car and drive it on public roads. But some people do,screw them. Lastly, My 'insightful' point was that the interview was using over the top examples to 'slam' Valenti. Reading this artical only made me want to smack the interviewer for being rude, not feel bad about linux users. and no one will EVER be put in prison for renting a blockbuster movie and playing on a linux box. I'll give you a nice crisp $5 bill if they do.

If you crash two 'normal-sized' vehicles together, people in both cars are equally likely to be killed. If you crash 2 SUVs together, the same applies. (although the chances of being killed at all are smaller) It's when a sedan/coupe/motorcycle and an SUV have a collision that the SUV driver is far more likely to survive.

Alternatively, this could be read to say that if you drive an SUV you are far more likely to kill someone else. I wouldn't want that on my conscience.

I've seen way to many idiot SUV drivers to justify their existence. They should have to take their own drivers license test. Have you ever driven next to a soccer mom, on a cell phone, driving 80 mph, in a Navigator?

Equal weaponry, yes. But the axis team has a serious advantage on all but one map. If you want to be a nice guy and use auto-team, more often than not, you'll end up on the camped-against allies.

The Axis only has a severe map advantage on Battery. And I think that is offset with a longer spawn time. Most of the other maps are close enough that the difference is meaningless. Mind you 'map advantage' can translate into 'my team sucks' quite easily.

But more importantly is the bullshit XP system they've implemented. If you're playing a three-map campaign and you join towards the end, you're faced with opponents who have skills much higher than you. Don't even bother playing a six-map campaign unless you start from the beginning.

The XP system is one of the most innovative systems I've seen in recent online games. Also, you are not required to play campaign games. They have single map games that do not carry the XP through.

Though the worst is really the class imbalances. Medics (after they get enough XP) are too powerful. Likewise for panzerfaust wielders. Weapons like the machinegun, mortar, and flamethrower are only useful in a few situations. This leads to a game of relatively few types of players going against each other in what ends up as boring and routine gunfights.

I agree here, Mortars are worthless UNLESS you have good field ops of your team. I have seen mortar players that do quite well on each map.

There is nothing i like better than to sneak around behind an enemy 'build up' point and catch them all by surprise with a flamethrower.

Haha, I work at Barrett Technology, the company that sold (and created) the robot arm that is used in these videos. The entire office has the same reactions when we watch one of our arms run. The reason it was chosen by the university was because it is really fast. Their arm is entirely cable driven. There are 4 degree's of freedom, with each motor residing in the base of the robot. Cable and pulley systems are used to create joint movements. It's a real elegant design, and the finished product is mesmerizing to watch. The cables enable very fast movement/ reaction time that is almost un-robotic.

We usually spend a whole day watch the WAM go through it's checkout procedure in quiet awe.
