Good move Google but what happens if every news organization sues or threatens to sue? Where shall we get our news from?
I doubt they (the new organizations) would risk the lost advertising revenue, but you never know some may try to get a short term gain by sueing google.
A perfect description of both your posts you might have been right about the NHS in a lot of areas but that was all your generalisation denotes a lack of intelligence on your part. Also your last comment doesn't appear to be marked troll you just have such a low karma rating (probably from ill informed comments in the past) that your score is zero with no troll marking.
Think before you rant and you may get positive karma.............. eventually. Finally in some areas in the US what you pay for is also shit and in some it's good the same apllies for Europe.
Next time you're in Europe, get away from the popular (among tourists) cities. You'll find very large numbers of people living in what amount to shacks.
That's the funniest thing I have heard, maybe your thinking of beach huts that some people enjoy spending holidays in ( I think there mad but there you go), or maybe you mistake allotment sheds for someone's house. Or do you count something like a chalet as a shack because it's traditionally made of wood? If so America is full of "shacks" even thought they would be nice houses to live in.
Trouble is they don't export the good stuff over hear:( the company's keep trying to sell the weak stuff coors bud Etc, we do get good imports from America but they usually highly varied as to what is available and when it is available.
Bass is nasty low grade stuff, The best beers are brewed by wychwood (hobgoblin is probably the best bar none), Black sheep, Youngs, Morlands and finally Adnams, one thing you can't miss out on is a couple of pints of Adnams Broadside. First time I tried Broadside was outside a pub that was opposite the brewery where it was made you can't get fresher and was amusing to watch it be deliverd by horse drawn dray. Avoid courage (except for directors), Boddingtons and bass like the plaque good these fail on all accounts.
I find that living in these United States is
becoming increasingly ironic. The USA was
largely formed by persons fleeing religious
prosecution, famine, or the law. Only to have
history repeat itself yet again in this modern
day.
It might have something to with those fleeing from religious persecution also Practised religious persecution when they were in power, it's all swings and roundabouts and massive dollops of hypocrisy from all religions.
There is no free lunch: Eat less, exercise more, eat more greens, less meat and less fat.
True except for eating less meat and more greens as that would reduce the amount of protein per calories your eating making you feel more hungry. Eat a bit more lean meat than normal and you will feel fuller quicker resulting in eating less calories and eating less food (there are ways to get protein without meat but it is the easiest).
Also ignore the latest fad of low carb's and not worrying about the fat ala Atkins diet its complete rubbish, protein is the key.
If you get arrested for molesting baby penguins, and I report that fact in my newspaper, you don't have a basis for a libel suit, even if the court finds you not guilty at trial.
True but if you acused me of molesting baby rather than reporting my arrest that would be lible. Acording the the article that is what The washingotn post did do.
The UN fired Mr. Bangoura in 1997 after two articles in The Washington Post accused him of sexual harassment and financial improprieties. A UN tribunal later found the allegations baseless and said he should be compensated and reinstated.
Acussing someone of something they didn't looks like lying to me.
The UN fired Mr. Bangoura in 1997 after two articles in The Washington Post accused him of sexual harassment and financial improprieties. A UN tribunal later found the allegations baseless and said he should be compensated and reinstated.
Mr. Bangoura, a Canadian citizen, sued the Post for libel and argued that because the newspaper posted the story on its website, his reputation had been damaged in Ontario.
The newspaper moved to have the case dismissed and argued that if it were allowed to proceed in Ontario, any news organization could be sued anywhere over material posted on its website.
Moral of the story do some proper journalism check your facts don't lie and don't moan at others for your mistakes.
Having governments butt their noses in like this only forces lowest commen denominators to win and means someone could come along and sell a piece of cheese as a CPU and anyone who tries to sell a real CPU could get labelled a monopoly.
umm no because those "bad and evil" governments would also but in in this case for false advertising.
Either goverments stay uninvolved with business practice as you wish and companys are allowed to charge what they want, strongarm who they want and sell cheese as CPU's or you have a regulated system were there are laws against strongarm tactics and selling fakes. I.E. cheese as CPU's ETC.
Why not you could get a group of trekkies and make them live for weeks on the "bridge" of the enterprise whilst doing all sort of trek related tasks and instead of voting them off the 2 most unpopular ones could just have a ritulised duel.
People are fans of Apple because they keep cranking out impressive innovations to the way humans and computers interact, and when at their best, sell really spiffy hardware that takes advantage of these innovations.
So Microsoft has fans because they are inovative to
Almost any time a store has a huge sale, it's a loss leader. They're trying to get you into the store to buy more stuff. Although this is still slightly different from the razor blade model, the similarities are there.
In some industry's especially the furniture industry the "sales" are actually the prices they would normally be sold at and for the rest of the year they are massively over priced. They make there operating profit for the year during the "sales" any sold during the rest of the year are a massive bonus, but I suppose "cushions" (blades)model won't work for the furniture industry.
He maybe right but until he shows that he is right we can't know for sure and thus can't Judge.
practically every shopping mall is swamped in dodgy "X in 1" machines.
Again all I know is, it is your opinion that these X in 1 machines are dodgy. I haven't seen many M.A.M.E machines here in the UK for sell but we do have hundreds of different x in 1 machines most of which seem to have legitimate licenses and they do get checked by trading standards. I don't doubt that some are pirated what I do doubt is that they are nearly all pirated especially as all the evidence I have seen points to the contrary and I have yet to see evidence that the majority are pirated.
This is an End User Agreement between yourself and Microsoft America. You agree that the state of Washington has jurisdiction over this agreement....
Don't dismiss EULAs so lightly, the same forces that push EULA in the USA (and have 2 court cases so far in their favour!) are pushing them in Europe too.
It would go to a local court first and as EULA's are not legal binding you didn't agree that Washington has juristication. Even if the EULA's were legal they may decide that the local court's not Washington have jurisdiction. It doesn't matter what MS claim it only matters what the courts decide. I doubt MS would take it to court as most people don't know that the EULA has no legal teeth so they obey it anyway. If it went to court and lost MS could be ordered to remove the EULA meaning people won't obey it out of fear.
If the community is all about the legal use of these games, then I suggest that the authors and owners of the original MAME product, step forward, and either through us, or by any other means, establish thier rights to the Trademark, and furthermore, take action to prevent companies that profit by offering thier customers the ability to illegally obtain game ROMs. This is all that we have ever wanted to achieve.
I would be interested in some examples of this rather than accusations; it's just that you have never said who (beyond generalisation) is acting illegally and what proof you have of this. If you do have proof etc and this is really about piracy you should really take this up with the courts as piracy is illegal and you are trying a wholly ineffective method that is a PR disaster for your company.
Yes some of us did (your about the 10th person to post it or a link to it) and while interesting he doesn't substantiate anything just accuses others and excuses himself. If it really is to stop piracy then there are laws to stop piracy that he should use, but they require evidence to be shown in court.
No he wants others to not be able to make money from there hard work so he can make more money. It's a subtle diffrence, what you think he is doing is honurable what he is actually doing is dishonurable.
I tired of the slashdot cliched kneejerk reaction to anybody making money: They must be evil, satanic, despised and loathsome creatures. Something we would pick out between our toes and fling into the gutter.
IT's is your reaction that is the kneejerk. No one who actually read the article suggested that he should be stopped from making money out of his hard work, he should be stopped from stopping others making money from there hard work. He even admits he cant compete and is trying to stop others selling cheap M.A.M.E. boxes finish up with an unsubstantiated acusation of piracy.
In the past couple of years, there has been a huge wave of resellers
competing with our UltraCade and Arcade Legends products. They build a
similar style cabinet, install a PC in the machine, load M.A.M.E., and sell
it for a very low price. Lower than we could ever offer our machines for
sale. How? Quite Simple. They profit by stealing others work. If you
look at the web sites, and read the eBay ads they offer machines that "Play
over 4,000 Classic Arcade Games" They then try and skirt the law by
pretending that they are not promoting piracy of these same 4,000 games with
statements like "we don't load the ROMs" but of course, almost all of them
do.
So no examples then, don't you need evidence before acussing someone of something? Or has the basic principal of innocent until proven quilty changed? Someone came up with a better business model than you live with it or adapt don't try a decive your way out.
Can't have Clippy ravaged and transmuted into a multitude of Japanese variants. He's the American Satan, not some overseas, sandal-wearing, fish-monger.
But wouldn't you prefer some sort of tentacle monster advsing you rather than a paper clip.
The word "project" for the EU unmasks you as a british euro-hater. I don't really mind, but please do understand that your leaders are lying to you about the EU for their own political reasons.
Considering most political parties (except UKIP but they barley exist) are rabidly pro euro who's spreading the lies? not labour, conservatives, or Lib dems? Don't make the mistake of presuming that because people question the EU that they are rabidly opposed to it, by believing what you want to believe and not asking legitimate questions you allow undemocratic principals to creep in and the EU is undemocratic enough.
Lemme guess you are british right? At least this sounds like exactly the kind of drivel people get spoonfed over on the other side of the channel.
Let me guess your American and presume that any questioning of authority or an idea is rejection of that authority or idea, after all that's the sort off ("get with the programme, suck it up") drivel you get spoon fed across the channel*.
Your statement shows you to be as ignorant and bigoted as the original poster you replied to.
* That statement is as accurate johannesg's original i.e. a not at all accurate caricature perpetuated by ignorance and the occasional appearance of someone who fit's the stereotype perfectly.
Problem with the commision is it's made up of leaders of the countries and their sycophantic EU loving staff who do not, under any circumstances, listen to what the people want.
I doubt they (the new organizations) would risk the lost advertising revenue, but you never know some may try to get a short term gain by sueing google.

to which the Eu would breath a collective sigh of relif.
I think you can still get it wychwood pubs but supermarkets tend not to stock it, probably because of the name.

I have got to start using that word in offical documents especially as our latest project is turning into Obesitiel.
