You are confusing content and consumables. Film by no imaginable way is content, it is a consumable, there is a huge difference between content and consumable, even one negating the other, ie toilet paper and faeces, a fun simile for current Hollywood content, whether film or digital storage, toilet paper or a Japanese style toilet, I suppose.
They are simply competing electronic publishers and even if it cost Netflix more, why feed you competing enemy if you do not absolutely need to. Apple has to choice to compete against Netflix it has to separate it's publishing from it's hardware but if it does that it reduces it's opportunity to sell it's hardware with higher profit margins, the country club price for the digital country club set, nothing wrong with that.
What is the silly function of an AI that can not be taught, it has no function. You teach, you set the path but they learn they take that path where they will. Creation of entry points and essential patterns of interaction are essential and any AI has to be capable of following them. The function of AI, it sounds more like they are trying to create an illusion of life, going right off track. They have fooled themselves into being part of the AI, filling out a form, what is the right way, you keep doing it until your AI corrector, tells you that is the right one and you follow that pattern ie the right way to fill out a form, it means nothing, unless you are designing a troll marketing engine to attack all forums regardless of the steps they take to keep bots off.
I'll fucking bet Google MARKETING helped design a bot to fill in forms with measure incorporated to keep bots from filling out forms, ohhh, right in your faces and nothing said or thought. So subtle the idiots themselves did not realise what they were subconsciously publicly doing, they wanted to be caught out a the things they were planning.
Which in the end, is why it is better for Governments to do as much internally as possible. Contracting stuff out, is not about reducing price, it is all about introducing increasing levels of corruption, just the way it is. Part of the problem is being forced to take the lowest price, in private business only idiots always take the lowest price, smart people always work to price performance ratios, getting the most bang for the buck. Government works smoother when it is all internal, the more they contract out, the worse the performance and the greater the final price (not the initial one, that's cheap but it never ever lasts) and the greater the corruption.
How to make money on government procurement systems run and controlled by private corporation, put in back doors to track tender prices and underbid and there will be back doors, on purpose because the system has to be maintained by private for profit contractors and the more corrupt they are the lower their bid can be.
I wanted to test things out, so I went with Nvidia Shield, way faster than any smart TV, hook up a 2 T drive and run plex 'Server' and plex client, Kodi. Have not tried the Nvidia games thingy do have the Nvidia games controller. No comparison to performance vs a Sony Smart TV, the Sony is so sssslllloooowww in comparison (Switch on TV and switch on shield, you can switch on both at the same time but Sony is weird and does not allow width changes on network content and when that joint connection between Sony and Shield is broken in terms of control, the Sony TV no longer recognises it as internet content just another video device). The shield is not the most stable hunk of junk and tends to require a reboot every week or so. The Plex 'Server' is handy giving me access to every device on the network. Was it worth it, hmm, depends on whether you just wanted the device for basics or you wanted to explore want can be done.
Sort of yes and sort of no. General AI is not a singular entity, just like the internet in toto is factually the most advanced AI on the planet, it works not on the basis of one program but many working together in their own speciality. As for what is though of as general AI, the error in design is a singular learning structure, rather than many interacting. So for language, not one AI but many working together each with specific roles and only those roles and an overarching AI that puts the solutions of each sub AI together. Any learning structure has to be broken down into it's smallest elements possible, with AI analysing and learning from just that element and passing them along for collation by the controlling AI. You always have to work to reduce the variables down to simplify and speed up the computational process. So for language, the initial analysis for one AI, how the words are arranged on the page (this is essential for sentences, paragraphs, first page or last page of a document or chapter, that is all that AI does and then is passes on that structure for more detail to be added in by other AI unites who process simultaneously, sentence structure, word definition (a cross correlation exercise based upon nearby words in the overall structure of words on the page). What makes it fun, speel cheker and grammor correktor because both having meaning and both r often wrong and we ruin internal korrecting to get. The not wrong meaning an AI that works with real world language has to deal with that.
So general AI is a misnomer, it will be always separate AIs working together, no different to our own brains, the perception of conscious is of one entity but that is entirely false, the point of collation is one overarching structure below which many AIs reside. Weird things are still required like a sense of humour, the means by which we break negative thought build up, a so called general AI will go insane without a sense of honour, it needs to be able to disrupt negatively reinforcing patterns.
Apple customers are the country club set of the digital world. They want the rules, they want uniformity, they want the lack of choice, some people enjoy all the rules and restrictions of the country club and paying too much for exclusivity and others do not, just the way it is. I am mainly interested in utility, flexibility and reliability, let's be honest no smart phone really provides that any more.
You are confused between $5,000 at a go and $5,000 total. Any market is made up of market segments. You do not have to pay for the entire market, just your segment of the market. It would likely be very good for a lot of cities and countries to gather their own street view data and offer it to search companies to create competition for Google. Distributed data collection would be a very effective way to compete against goggle maps and it would be very much in countries interests to create competition for Google, who blatantly cheats on taxes, demands all other taxpayers pay their way, corrupt politics through biases forced onto people attempting to use Google products and of course charge based upon the basis of a lack of competition. When countries gather their own data, their own street view images, they can offer to as many companies as are willing to make it available on the internet.
Goggles competitors will have not ignored this and countries feeling the abuse of google in terms of tax cheating, distortion of democracy and uncompetitive pricing can effectively force real competition on Google.
It's commonly called bait and switch. They invited in foreign investment under corporate friendly rules and once sufficient foreign investment was bound, they altered the rules to give back advantage to local businesses, they got Darth Vadered https://www.youtube.com/watch?.... The rules will continue to change, until Indian businesses have replaced Amazon and Wallmart, oh yeah.
As long as it is only in Japanese territory their choice but how long they take to put the whale down should be taken into account, a cruel extended death should be banned and any method should require pretty much instant death for the whale. Not that I would eat whale or promote it's killing but prevention of cruelty to animals laws should apply.
Hence the brutality, it will be quite a mess, not in the least a smooth transition. You forget, putting a home power system into your home is not institutional but entirely your choice, same as charging your electric vehicle at home entirely tax free. It will be a pretty chaotic bunch of years. There is not good way through it, and every one will be playing catch up. I think ICE has already made it play as is now losing to full electric, except maybe for commercial vehicles. The short sharp and brutal bit, think of it like a tank on a ramp, it goes fast approaching and then slows down as it ramps up and then reaches the tipping point and wham, flips the other way. How long it takes to reach the tipping point is hard to tell but when it does, it will be brutal. So at a guess, some where between 2020 and 2030. Right now rushing up to the ramp, after 2020 driving up it and then sometime in the several years there in after, WHAM. Depends upon how many major manufacturers make the jump when and if consumers are willing to invest in vehicles that will lose market value based upon the cost of a electric conversion, I wont, my next car will be electric.
What is mind boggling is why they were so stubborn to change course and made themselves become increasingly more unpopular as they tried to force the ideas they wanted on everyone who did not want it. Really lost their customer focus and become unreliable suppliers. I liked all things M$ once, no longer, they seem not to be able to correct their mistakes and take on a greater customer focus. Instead, locked into forcing what they want on their customers but then they are not the only tech company to fall into exactly the same hole and just keep digging and digging as fast as they can, same crap warranties, same marketing lies, same dodging responsibility for major failures and same attitude to change, only when it is too late to work, only once they are forced.
You have to apologise to Canadians when you get it wrong in Australia, they get offended, see it in their face in an instant. Although it is a fun way to stir up Canadians in Australia, just be quick on the apology and the smile and agree with what ever is their USA sentiment.
That is the impression I am getting. Sure they will hire them, as front people for image sake but they do not want them running anything, a solid hold over from the colonialism era and the Government of China reaches for that when ever it wants to (especially in the rest of the world and then the US government arrogantly pipes in and makes it worse for themselves). Reality is still reality and it is what must be dealt with, offending US sensibilities by pointing out how the Chinese will react in China, well, toughen the fuck up, people in other countries perceive the same things differently.
You can troll it and mod it all the way down you want, your mistake is interpreting from your perspective and not from mainland China perspective and how it will be presented. Nothing in my comment reflects any values what so ever, just the outcome and how perceptions will be managed. Oh wah wah, US bashing, when anything does not agree with US perception, suck it up people, other countries will perceive the same actions in different ways and that will result in different than expected outcomes. From the Australian perspective, largely honestly, indifference, a Canada/USA/China problem something Australia should avoid (beyond the USA not fucking with Australian trade with the rest of the world). Apparently from the US perspective WAH WAH WAH not fair, suck it up.
The problem with the arrest and subsequent political press releases is pretty much does make it a threat to all Chinese people and all Chinese companies. There was a surged in racism against Chinese in US comments and those would have been picked up on as well. They tend to be conformist and authoritarian and the mob reaction to this event was bound to spread. How much and how severely entirely up to the Chinese government but some will occur. It was really a bad idea by the US establishment and will have long term ramifications against US and Canadian citizens and companies in China, it will have the odour of trying to force colonial rule back on China and the Chinese living in China, it will not go down well and will last quite a long time. Just low grade idiots our of their depth playing stupid games, that other people will end up paying the price for. Yeah, it is going to fester for quite some number of years, from US or Canada probably smart to go elsewhere rather than China, your very unlikely to receive warnings for petty crimes and likely to receive the harshest penalties, not by orders from the top, just spread sentiment to each little point of authority all the way down the system.
I suppose because the Impact was in Indonesia and the Indonesians were not paying for services to protect their own citizens lives. Live in an earthquake zone and it is up to 'YOUR' government to provide proper detection and warning services. Why the fuck would this be the US governments fault or Trumps fault. In fact Trump could turn around and say see "Indonesia getting a free ride on US taxpayer provided services". I wouldn't normally bother with this but 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' is just getting too ludicrous not to take the piss out of.
Like all the fake left Hollywood peaceniks complaining about Trump removing invading US forces from Syria, they are an actually invading army, not invited, no UN approval and no approval from the US congress or senate, the peaceniks screaming for more war because Trump did not want more want. If Trump wants it not matter what, the Trump Derangement Syndrome freaks oppose it (the fake left actually far right tools of the establishment). US main stream media has become a joke, a parody of itself.
How to make Mexico pay for the wall, create a fund and to put money in that fund, start charging the Mexican government for all illegal immigrants returned, from the point of arrest on, the cost to secure is a US government choice, cost there in after, the failure of the Mexican government responsibility to secure it's border and control it's citizens. So from the point of arrest on, cost of detaining the illegal immigrant, court costs, medical expenses and cost of return to Mexico, all totalled up and the bill sent to Mexico, when Mexico pays, that money used to pay for the Wall. So the wall will save the US government money and the Mexican government money.
The Mexican government should not get a free ride for failing to control it's borders, all illegal immigrants costs to the US taxpayer by Mexican citizens, should be paid for by the Mexican government, that is entirely reasonable and entirely doable. This should be a globally applied rule, all illegal immigrants costs should be billed back to the country of origin, they can always bill the individual when they get back and recover the money.
The citizens of every country in the world, have the right to choose who they will and will not let into their country, and the right to recover costs from kicking out illegal attempts to gain entry and exploit the hard work, services to the community and taxes of citizens, not just current generations but past generations who strove to create a better future for the next generation of citizens in their country. That is entirely fair and reasonable.
Just like Amazon monitors, controls and manipulates it employees, so it does the same to customers. So they launched prime and did all the thing they 'KNEW' customers wanted. Now that they have you signed up on prime and paying, they will start taking stuff away, until the cost of losing customers of prime exceeds the cost savings achieved by cutting back prime. They will not stop there but continue to push that boundary, how cheap and crappy can they make the service, whilst charging more and more for the service, infinite greed, infinite profits, seriously, that's all it is.
Many people will wake up and simply stop dealing with Amazon if they can buy the product elsewhere, they continual yoyo, of raising prices, reducing price, increasing services, reducing services, will piss people off and they will simply get of the bullshit ride. Amazon is truly an awful company, just really, really shitty management, pretty much becoming psychopath incorporated.
Monarchy is the smallest government of all, a government of one and for every one, disagree and get publicly tortured to death, hardly what anyone would call Libertarian. Government should be huge because it should involve every citizen, you can have equal access to democracy and or equal access to justice without big government in fact huge government, to ensure that level of access.
Basically what is happening is the psychopathic authoritarian control freaks are looking at networking and AI and salivating over how they can control everyone and force that control through the police state. They want George Orwell 1984 and they want to be at the top and they want to be able to use and abuse anyone below them sic. at any time they want.
This is all really sick shit and it is the anal retentive quisling types in tech industry who are the enablers. Perhaps citizen unions and labour strikes against government, refusing to do work for corrupt government, refusing to be spies for corrupt government and mocking and deriding corrupt politicians at every turn. Don't be secret about it, don't encrypt anything, do it right to the faces and show them how little power they really have.
The drone actually hovered by the windows of the control tower, seriously, who would be stupid enough to do that and not expect police to follow the drone back to the users, manually. There is no way, any one could have expected to get that drone back or not get arrested trying. The whole thing a massive false flagging scam and no one can pretend otherwise. A real investigation needs to occur and those corporate douche bag types need an extended custodial sentence. I dare so more millions will be spent on anti-drone measures and new regulations created to restrict their use (not that I am opposed to that noisy invasive things but at least be honest about and do not put people's lives at risk with false flag bullshit).
The sick reason why this is so. They built elements of internet explorer into the OS so that firefox and chrome would appear to load and run slower than internet explorer because elements of internet explorer are already running in windows. This was like delayed start for service in windows, ohh, look windows loads faster but whoops, it won't run apps tied to those services that have not started yet but M$ can brag how fast the windows GUI boots even though you can not run apps, until delayed start services have started.
Years back many made comment on US companies in their short sighted greed, using outsourcing to inflate profits and break the backs of US unions, would create the competition that would end up destroying them. Ahh, the inevitable reward of greed, failure and collapse. What a pack of greedy American corporate morons, you reaped what you sowed, well done fuckers and a merry Xmas to you.
Start to dominate, not actually dominate but it will be quicker than you think because of higher capacity batteries and home charging. Then add in solar panels and another battery and basically tax free charging. So not necessarily super convenient and they might well have to figure out mobile rescue charging rather than towing, enough charge to get to the nearest charging station. Likely smart petrol station will add metered power points to their car parks. There will be a lot or parked cars with no charge, on the side of the road awaiting a charge. I can imagine they might require vehicles to allow connection from one car to another, so as to reduce the number of stuck vehicles.
It will not be a smooth transition but really quite messy, especially with most people trying to charge at home, off their solar panels and their home battery, rather than paying probably something like 3 times as much buying a charge. So petrol stations with big debts going bankrupt and infernal combustion engines also not being able to refuel and facing long queue's at the remaining stations, Super markets will of course be making big investments to ad charging stations to most car parks and solar panels to their big flat roofs, putting more pressure on service stations with even fewer customers. Charging at a super market makes sense. Park, put your car on charge whilst you shop, 30 minutes to an hour, so as you enter the store your report you car park station and credit card details and do you shopping and on the way out pay for the charge and your groceries. So service stations are pretty much screwed, lots and lots of bankruptcy, it will be way easier to charge an electric car, that a petrol car.
It will be chaotic, gas station here today and gone tomorrow and then hunting down then next one and massive queues. Which will force more people to go electric, you can see how that plays out in the end, pretty economically brutal for the existing set up. It kind of needs all consumer vehicles to fill their tanks at gas stations, as the percentages change, so the revenue collapses, forcing up margins due to reduce revenue, forcing up prices due to growing inefficiencies in the supply chain (less fuel revenue with the same cost of infrastructure) and this making electric more and more competitive.
It will end up all quite short, sharp and brutal occuring over not many years. Many car manufacturers will go bankrupt, many, many service stations will go bankrupt, fossil fuel companies going bankrupt. It will be a major market adjustment.
Think of a redesigned city with similar high rise buildings ie retail on the first few floors and then commercial on the next bunch of floors and then capped off be residential. So often you don't even need to leave your building and often what you need is in the building across the street and you are free to walk there. This does not support suburbia in the least because of the distributed source of the traffic, prevents better public transport options, until further development in tunnelling allows an automated system of human transport right to your home.
E-sports is dumb. Look to win, you need to play repeatedly to the point where it would bore most people to tears, I can do it but why and why would I care if others do it. Then there is trying so hard to win, you take all the fun out of the game. So a decision, do you practice and focus so hard, you have no fun or do you take in easy, do not so well but have a lot of fun. E-sports is all bullshit and marketing hype, it has no legs, each E-sport is doomed to die, it's not like say cricket been around for a very long time and will continue in much the same format. Not at all, that particular E-Sport will only last as long until it is crushed by the next game and the marketing associated with that.
E-sport is only viable if it sells games or computer hardware. Straight off the bat a problem, you can only sell the game once, so only suits PVP games pay to win, so they can sell micro transactions that allow you to win but that is hardly as sport, although reasonable to be another bullshit Olympic sport where the quality of the equipment defines who will win, rather than an equal playing field. You can not even run base game only at events, otherwise what are you selling, once those who will buy the game have and there is no reason to buy new hardware.
With physical sports, there is the fitness aspect and physical challenge. Sure possibly E-Sports when you have full body haptic exo-skeltons, that the player uses to control their avatar and that responds to affects upon the avatar and moves the player because of course, you can play very intense games and the player would have to be exceedingly fit to compete, having to move that haptic feedback exo-skeleton. Reality is in E sports if you are not participating you are wasting your time, if you play enough to compete, you are wasting your time and to play enough to compete is as boring as fuck, eye bleedingly boring. Play lots of different computer games and have lots more fun, that is the reality, learning new games is much more fun than playing them, simple truth, unless of course you are looking for the social aspect, then playing anything with good friends is the most fun.
OK, how about this. Consider your children as adults, do you think they will be happy that their entire life from birth to their current adult age, has been monitored and analysed and they have been subject to targeted manipulative advertising and many corporations know exactly how to manipulate them. As adults knowing their deepest fears will have been exposed to corporate manipulations, the most vulnerable psychological weakness spread open to be raped by corporate greed. Seriously what kind of individual are you. Do you know how much power corporations can have over the psychology of adults if they have been monitoring and analysing them from birth and manipulating their development to suit that control, this is a sick as fuck and honestly those people should be locked up, seriously and just for you https://duckduckgo.com/?q=duck.... Yes, you should stop using Google, they seemingly have become as evil as fuck and at every opportunity, you should switch away, won't be long before people are blocking all gmail addresses because you have no right to give away someone else's privacy and you should tell other's to do the same.
Yes, it is as sick as fuck to monitor people's psychology from birth to adulthood so that you can manipulate their choices and yes, obviously that will include knowing their greatest fears and greatest psychological weakness, this is as fucking evil as it gets. If it was my parent that did that to me, I would be tempted to punch them in the face because I can never get it back, not ever, stolen and given away by the stupidity of truly ignorant moronic parents.
