Last time I sat down with my extended family to watch a movie, my brother's mother-in-law kept yapping "what's going on?" "who is this?" "why is he...?" and various other inane questions regarding the plot of the movie, disrupting *my* enjoyment of said movie.
And she gave me the evil eye when I told her that if she actually shut up, watched and listened, she'd get the answer to her own questions.
There's no excuse for that teacher's actions. However, school systems need to be consistent. There are plenty of examples of teachers teaching or communicating inappropriately on issues such as homosexuality, abortion, drugs, and politics
I dunno... from what I remember of the drivel I heard back in school, not much of it, if any at all, affected me.
I'd like to see it as a type of acid bath, where students capable of rational thought quickly distinguish themselves from sheeple.
Antibiotics-resistant bacteria are way scarier, IMO, especially since you're more likely to get infected by them where you go for treatment (ie hospitals).
The most important use of the cell phone is to get a girl's number
And for those of us who already have a girlfriend or wife, the most important thing to do is make sure she does not have our leash^H^H^H^H^Hcellphone number
how about a detector that screens out people susceptible to claustrophobia and panic attacks, which could lead to passenger airplanes being diverted and escorted by fighter airplanes...?
If the general policy was to disallow all carryon luggage, thereby accelerating the boarding process, wouldn't it make it easier for the minority of people with extreme/special needs to show the security their medical papers/justifications?
without any carry-on luggage, as long as they increase the security checks on the luggage handlers and improve the luggage sorting technology to prevent my stuff from being "lost".
I'd say it's a rather good design - for the vendor. What gives them more leverage, an empty garage or a garage full of trapped vehicles?
IANAL, but it could be a legal liability, as the car owners might sue not only the owners of the robot-garage, but the vendor as well.
IMO the vendor still has a lot of leverage, since the garage no longer functions and no longer brings in revenue, but the owner still has to pay land and other taxes, etc.
That's a rate of nearly one per second continuously since the November 19 launch
How about the length of Wiis side-by-side in number of football fields?
How many Volkswagen Beetlefuls?

know that our "cell phone" is not so much a communication device as it is an electronic leash.

1 million geeks typing and mouse-clicking not-so-randomly = slashdot effect
I doubt you could herd a bunch of monkeys together and do the same, unless Slashdot started posting articles about bananas
that everyone's hard drive pron content percentage is much higher, however.
Antibiotics work on bacteria...
Except when they stop working.

Especially if we consider that these days, music is basically sold on the basis of the "honor system".
I'm all for lack of privacy, as long as it applies equally to everyone, starting with our political leaders, judges, and police officers and so on.
Are you new to the Internets?
Usually, people replace the letter S with the dollar symbol, for example, Micro$oft, to make the kind of point you are aiming for.
The thing that always bugged me with the Terminator movies is that the guy and the successive cyborgs sent back in time did not appear in empty space.
If everyone who owns a home used solar panels for the sole purpose of powering their air conditioning systems?
Heat peaks when the Sun hits the hardest.
I think it's a great way to dissolve an offensive phone which doesnt do what it's asked of it.

And of course, if the next Einstein or Galileo is indeed among them, his discoveries will never see the light of day.
If it's spun right, it could be entertaining if aired on a tv show like Mythbusters or Patent Bending.
Does Cruithne now get full moon status?

Pepsi does not want people associating "Coke" with cola
Moot point. Have you ever been to a restaurant that serves BOTH Coke and Pepsi products?
Last time I tried to be funny with a waiter, I told him I wanted a Pepsi, and he replied "how about a Coke".
Me: "No I want a Pepsi"
Waiter: "Well, I could say 'ok' and bring you a Coke and not tell you about it"
Decavitator
Exactly.
What with the new ban on everything, my new plan is to pig-out on food and drinks just before boarding, and fall asleep while digesting.

What about the term "kamikaze"?
Seems to fit the definition...
