Exocets are pretty outdated these days. Despite this they are difficult to stop at mach 1 and 4 feet above a choppy sea surface.
Even when fired as singletons they are rediculously difficult to stop, and american anti aircraft/missiles missiles are optimised for mach 2 missiles travelling at height (patriot and sm2 are names that fill me with confidence). In the single case of an american warship attacked by them (in a war zone - they were awake) they were unaware of even the launch.
Of course french anti shipping missile technology has not stood still. We have the latest versions of AMX (exocet replacement) to be rumoured with a dialable sea skimming speed up to Mach 3. It is also understood to have stealth characteristics.
How long do you think a Carrier Battle Group would last under such a high tech onslaught.
Assuming the french still found it amusing to keep to conventional warheads.

This same technique of listening for the faint signal was invented and described by Peter Wright Author of spycatcher who used it during the cold war to look for Russian Agents in the UK who were listening to transmissions from moscow. (If you read the book u will see why it was banned)
The man was a genius and he also stopped a very early defeat for the UK in WW2 by inventing another technique for deguassing ships to stop them from triggering magnetic mines.

It has to be said that there will be plenty of companys willing to ship computers to hungary. I can recommend MESH computers (I don't mean meshboxes - even though they are great) a very good manufacturer using reliable and compatible components - why go to DELL ?
To be honest it does sound like you're upset because you can't buy american products - but there are european companys very willing to take your money !
I agree with you here that the linux community is way too complacent. I think one danger is the movement of the battlefield away from the technical arena into an arena which microsoft and friends clearly own. I.e. The US law courts. Who would would of guessed the Dept of Justice investigations would lead to virtually zero punishment and the takeover of the education market. ROFL. It could just happen that despite all the evidence and truth that a decision will be made against linux . The amazing decision to reward Microsoft for being a illegal Monopoly could be a predicate for punishing linux for being an egailitarian product.
