I think there is one point which most people can agree on. People who shoot people for reasons other than defense of life and limb are not right in the head. How is a background check going to identify those if it doesn't violate the DR. patient privilege? People who seek help for depression and other mental issues already face a stigma in society in general and to a much greater degree in the military rather than the support and respect they deserve. Allowing further gun denial based on a criminal history that has nothing to do with the illegal use of a gun introduces a very slippery slope. Certainly those already openly denied firearms are getting guns somewhere that is not a legal channel, and that is not likely to change based on passing new laws. Maybe they could introduce the Facebook check, and deny guns to those who have already published ranting manifestos, or plans to shoot everyone in their school or place of work.
Which puts him on par with all the other people running for president. Anyone seeking the US presidency should by default be disqualified and thoroughly investigated by the IRS, and the FBI.
If it is not saving ME money then why would I put myself out one iota for the vendor. If I go paperless it had better include a discount on the service and access to a limited number of free paper copies in case I need it for some other reason.
I agree, this so-called bill is a grandstanding POS of the face of it and very likely not legal. Politicians who waste everyone's time and money putting forth legislation that a layman can tell is not legal, should be found guilty of malfeasance https://www.google.com/#q=malf... at the very least, and if the cost is high enough a greater felony. These people are supposedly professionals and very likely a lawyer so their understanding should be greater than the average person, not less like they seem to demonstrate on a regular basis.
They don't have to have an ICBM, just get an object into orbit and they can drop it anywhere provided they have enough math skills, and based on racial stereo-types that would seem a slam dunk. Hell they don't even need a nuclear warhead, a big enough rock would do the trick, what are we (USA) or any other country going to do ? Send Bruce Willis & company to stop it ?
This is the newest application for IBM Watson. They found that while it could win at game shows, it couldn't get paid, so here they are, cognitive technology in action.
Lots of people use calculus in their daily lives without even knowing it. Even more people fail to properly use statistics and don't know it either. More math is gooder, while the proper use of grammar seems to be seen as pedantic.
I used to work for a company that made bonuses general knowledge within a department. They held a staff meeting and merit bonuses were given and the reasons why were discussed. They also maintained a department ranking and that was posted as well. It didn't really bother me, but I was almost always in the top 3 amongst 25 to 30 sys admins. What wasn't broadcast were the perks and $$$ given by the end-user groups we supported, and again I supported stock traders and private banking groups who had cash to throw about, so I am convinced I was getting significantly more than almost all of my colleagues. I miss the money these days but not the stress and corporate B$, not to mention having time off. 24 hour on-call gets old pretty fast.
Honestly no, video interpolation is far from my realm of interest, or understanding. What I am aware of is the background crowd no longer blurs when the camera swings quickly, and the puck remains focused nearly all the time. Tennis matches seem to benefit greatly from the lack of background blur as well. I rarely watch anything but sports so I can't make a statement about anything else. Thanks for the info though. Knowing is half the battle, not giving a shit makes up most of the rest of the conflict.
Because the FBI doesn't want to brute force the phones, they want a backdoor into all iPhones at the OS or even better firmware level despite the mass amount of FUD https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... they are filling the airwaves with. If they get away with forcing Apple to provide such, then the other vendors will be a slam dunk. Beyond that we all know that if there is a door, hidden or not some Ukrainian teenager will figure it out in like a week, not to mention actual government sponsored professionals.
I totally agree. I watch my hockey in 1080 HD at 240hz and it is unbelievably clear with almost no background blur at all. So much better, that watching 60hz broadcasts makes me think I am losing my mind.
Get off my lawn !!! It is kind of funny we used to call them Llamas because they were so very lame, but times change and people get older but not wiser. As for moderation I agree totally. I've been hanging here for many years, through several owners, things have been better, gotten worse and then just plain weird but all along I've enjoyed the side-show. I just hate to feed such an unskilled and obvious troll. Make them at least exert some effort. Cheers fyngyrz
GO one step further. A corporation is NOT a person and should not donate ANY money to the political process. I'd also suggest that as part of the FCC's license agreement, each network be required to donate EQUAL time to each candidate that qualifies for the primary. I'd also like to see an actual debate, in which each candidate responds to the same question with the same time limits instead of the media circus we are getting now.
What is sadder is that you wasted your time responding to an obvious troll, that put very little effort into his or her post. Don't feed the trolls and they will crawl back under bridge from which they spawned.
Was expected to do the exact same thing, but our staff saw it coming and we 'failed' miserably to enlighten the East Indian HB1's. I was approached a couple of months after being laid off, with a very decent package I must admit to help restructure the group, but the $1000.00/hour figure I quoted the large financial institution I formerly worked for seemed to spook them. I wonder if they ever recovered the DB's I fixed for them during the training period. Backups are so fragile, and indexes so easily corrupted. Not long after I was contacted I heard from colleagues the group was outsourced to HP with about as much success as the HB1 migration.
Note I got another job after my 18 months of salary ran out, but have since left the industry. I walk and sit dogs and houses now, getting paid much less but I am very happy, relaxed and work outdoors mostly on my own schedule.
The key to the above statement is Volunteers. These were sheeple, not people. Once again cherry picking your audience proves the point you were trying to make in the first place.
Ford is a good actor, maybe even great in some parts, but a total douche bag in person. Convinced he 'changed' the world and can walk on water, his public temper tantrums regarding questions about Star Wars give true insight into his actual personality. His public endorsement is only the result of significant $$$ incentives.
I don't think this generation would react differently to a consolidated external threat, they've just never had to face one, and with luck won't have to but I still hold high hopes that if the need arose the masses would too.
There is no doubt that McAfee speaks the truth here, but what he doesn't reference is that while the NSA and the FBI are retarded, there are huge numbers of folks in the US who do not subscribe to that policy and HAVE kept up on security and can spin the US Gov'mint up to speed quickly when the need arises, and it will. The US has traditionally been a late riser when it comes to open warfare, we mince in and get bloodied and then, come together in an economic juggernaut, uniting seemingly perpetual fighting sides of our country against any external threat, much like a bickering family consolidates against any outsider. Then when the threat is gone we go back to feuding like dysfunctional hamsters. I just hope we don't wait too long in the face of this more subtle threat...

"Regardless of the provenance of the quote, Yamamoto believed that Japan could not win a protracted war with the US. Moreover, he seems to have believed that the Pearl Harbor attack had become a blunder even though he was the person who came up with the idea of a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. It is recorded that "Yamamoto alone" (while all his staff members were celebrating) spent the day after Pearl Harbor "sunk in apparent depression". He is also known to have been upset by the bungling of the Foreign Ministry which led to the attack happening while the countries were technically at peace, thus making the incident an unprovoked sneak attack that would certainly enrage the Americans."
I've personally never bought a Blu-ray disc, and very few DVD's.
Not that I am bragging, I've just never had the that much desire to re-watch a show or movie. I have purchased some DVD's, e.g. the original Star Wars trilogy, Python's Flying Circus, the Black Adder, the Lord of the Rings, Blade Runner, and a few others, but other wise I've only streamed newer stuff.
1 day in the life of a large industrial plant of almost any heavy industry. Not to let them off to easily but private cars are dwarfed in the production of 'bad' gasses when compared to fleets of diesel trucks, heavy transport equipment or industrial production facilities.
Of course there is only one Earth, given the extreme odds of Earth developing, what would the added chances be that another planet like ours would develop, AND they would call it Earth, seems kind of slim to me...
Would the Universal Motion Arts Association allow for there to be 2 Earths(tm) without legal action and then send in the Vogons to destroy the infringing planet.
On another track, maybe there is only one earth per universe/dimension ?
What will this do for 911call location issues ? Currently there are numerous issues with VOIP and 911, and AFAIK some solutions but none that provides the full functionality of standard phone calls as far as guiding emergency services to the location of the 911 call.

Yep, I pat her on the back of the head with one hand to help keep time, but it doesn't seem to extend duration much.
BTW Don't apologize for a good joke, If the subject, in this case me can't take it, then I shouldn't be posting here in any case...
