Guiness is just pissed that he hasn't been able to cash in on the latest round of Star Wars fanatisism and that he hasn't recognized for anything else that he's ever done. I think it was Don McLean (sp) that wouldn't play "American Pie" because it was the only song of his ever requested by people. it's understandable that Guiness would feel this way, but IMHO he shouldn't be spouting anti-Lucas sentiment because of it. The real irony is that he is using his noteriety as ObiWan to get people to listen.

Must _everything_ be an "open source" issue?? keerist already. there is a place for commercial information and software on this rock. some of us would be _very_ unemployed if it weren't for commercial apps/information technologies and to be honest, most of the mainstream devel would not have gone as far as it has (albeit the open source community has taken their knowledge of the commercial world and used it to create and extend current technology, but that is another story). and that's the point, isn't it? not _everything_ has to be open source to be a good thing(tm).

  6. The Movie (SPOILERS) on Beware The Hype, Not the Witch · · Score: 1

The ending was the best part of the whole movie. I was sitting there hoping as the final fade happened that they wouldn't go into come cheesy newstory type of ending that tidyed the whole thing up. They didn't and I was happy. But as the credits rolled, a vast number of people groaned and shot obcenities at the screen as they left the theatre.

This led me to a thought. People have been spoonfed the emotions that they are supposed to have for so long that they no longer have the imagination to scare the living shit out of themselves. I personally find it pathetic.

I thought it was a great movie... instantly went on my top ten of all time.

actually... a lot of things (including certain rights) are excluded until age 18. I do believe this is why it is illegal to sell porno to 12 year olds. you are a second-class citizen as a child (basically... you aren't a citizen, but property of your parents... to an extent). Kids, under current law, don't have a "right" to knowledge. I'm not saying this is a good thing at all. don't get me wrong. kids should be educated, but we need to change some ideals first.

That's not what I'm saying. I never said it was "ok" to pirate software. I won't even get into the fact that stock has nothing to do with profit sharing nor is it affected by piracy, rather than to probably make your stock rise ever so *slightly* because of increased market share. This does NOT mean that I condone or support piracy at all. And yes... the independant developer is hurt by piracy. People who crack shareware programs hurt those people who put their time and love into a piece of useful software. I just don't think that you are personally hurt by piracy and it irritates me that you think you are.

No one is taking money away from you unless you are involved in some kind of high-level profit sharing there at Mickeysoft AND you weren't paid hourly/salary for the work you did. No one is taking anything from you if you were paid for your labor. They are, however, taking something from the software companies because the company DID pay for your time.
