  3. Too much to do on Blame Bad Security on Sloppy Programming · · Score: 2, Informative

I'm a VB 6, ASP, and VB .NET developer and to put it from my viewpoint. I really don't think has anything to do with the language, compiler, or development environment; but more to do with everything else.

On an average day I deal with patching of our IIS web servers, Administrate 2 MS-SQL servers. In addition to the ENTIRE software development life cycle: from Analysis to maintenance. All the while dealing with 4 to 5 major projects.

If I release bad code it's because someone didn't give me ample time to verify/think about what I'm writing. The people who tend to cause these errors also tend to cause this other problems:

    • Poor structure
    • Do not declare variables

So, do I believe that different languages are inherently better for security? No, but I do believe that some programmers are inherently better for security.

  8. Economics on Cyber Sleuths vs. Secret Networks · · Score: 1

Infinite supply and a finite demand creates a price of near-zero.

Digital recordings are now infinitely reproducible, and only a finite people want song A. Therefore, we should begin to move toward a price of zero for song A, and all songs on CD B.

So, my question is why is RIAA spending so much time and money suing people. Instead of finding a way to stop the infinite supply. Especially, since technology is moving so fast that in one to two years there will be completely anonymous peer-to-peer file sharing systems.

My advice, innovate now before you go out of business.

Also, if the term is to be used, it should be used in all lower-case letters to distinguish it from our trademark SPAM, which should be used with all uppercase letters.

  11. RIAA is watching! on DVD Recording - Is There a Winner Yet? · · Score: 1

"Sure I can make sure that my DVD player will play whatever format I produce but what about my parents and friends?" That is a copyright violation, and by article 100 section LCII of the DMCA you could be fined $50,000 per occurrence and up to 60 years at beautiful Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Big bother RIAA is watching you.
