  2. File allocation Table on Measuring Fragmentation in HFS+ · · Score: 4, Interesting

what type of file system is there where there is no main allocation table just a header then the file then a header then the file so you could theoretically break a disk and still read the half that was good because all pertinent information relating to a file was in one place?

It still seems no matter what mail client I'm using there is some feature missing that another client has. What will it take to get someone to review all mail clients and combine the best of all worlds. Now I realize you can't please everyone but the features I'm referring to seem to be pretty useful. So far Thunderbird comes the closest, still room for improvement, but its still sub 1.0 so there is time. Anyone know any other mail program that really doesn't get the credit it deserves?

I wonder if more code contests would stop the number of virus writers. How many virus writers are just people who can program, but want it know they are good. Maybe some other outlet of demonstrating their talent would prevent them from "needing" to demonstrate it another way, such as a virus.

I have always loathed working with Novell, in a business environment just because it complicated most things. Everything works easily on Windows but on novell well there were all these extra steps or dead-ends. When I heard someone had novell I cringed. Now, however, it would seem I'm hoping people end up with novell linux so I can do the linux side of things I could never do before. So I really did used to hate it but now I'm wishing for it.

  21. Re:Firebird SQL on MySQL Gets Functions in Java · · Score: 0

Those points are either wrong or seriously outdated. You can use an alias instead of the exact path, i have never had a corrupt database i couldn't fix (and i've only had 2 corrupt databases). That is talking about InterBase not Firebird a lot has improved. Furthermore, I was comparing MySQL to Firebird not PostgresSQL to Firebird. Even assuming the flaws you pointed out were accurate Firebird would still be very much better then MySQL.
