Am I incorrect in thinking that the micro does not play GB/GBC games? I thought that they'd stripped out the processors which allowed it to emulate the earlier models in order to make it smaller.
Tonight I went to a Walmart that just opened this past week. Being the person I am, I just had to take a stroll through the game department, despite the fact I have not the money, nor the desire, for a new game. I did not see one Xbox 360 on the shelf. Neither did I see a PS2, GCN, or DS. The Xbox (original) section was nowhere to be found. Not even games. The only system on the shelf was 2 or 3 PSPs. What's that tell me? PS2, GCN, and DS are all selling out along with X360? Not likely. It could be that stores are keeping stock hidden from customers waiting for them to ask for them. It deters theft of an in-demand item. All that glass does is provide more to clean up when someone decides that they need to steal it.
I don't work for an ad agency, but I don't think they'd like their advertisement to be placed in a badly lit area that isn't a main focus for the player.
They would probably protect against it by timing through the game and updating the web portal. I seriously doubt they would allow video submissions for something like that. It can be fixed too easily.
I suppose their strategy was that so long as they are the sole licensee of NFL/NFLPA people will buy their games for that reason alone.
That's exactly what I said as soon as I found out about it. The reason its in the top 10 selling games every year is that people who aren't really gamers buy it to simulate the football season. It's just not the same when you're playing as the Philadelphia Birds of Prey, the Pittsburgh Steel Workers, and the Tampa Bay Software Copyright Infringers.
I'm not saying they have to, but it is what they currently have. And now it is what the fans expect. I'm sure the exclusivity of the deal drives the price up, since neither the NFL or NFLPA are making money from multiple sources. And also the (entirely unecessary) music likely drives the cost up quite a bit.
The cost of exclusivity of the NFL & NFLPA licenses + the cost of the licensed music in the menus of the game + the cost of having John Madden on ramble on, all the while sounding like he's eating the entire time = skyrocketing prices
Water. And lots of it. I stay awake late nights by giving myself mini workout sessions in during load times or when my brain is feeling stressed from programming. The water keeps me feeling fresh.
It's also required that I walk back and forth to the bathroom multiple times during the course of a night.
A Firefly MMO could be fun, with all the heisting and thieving and what not. Not to mention the possibility of playing as Alliance and trying to put an end to all the fun stuff.
But a Lost MMO would be ridiculous. What would you do? Explore the jungle and develop your character's back story? Then when things start to get exciting, you have to take a break for a week or two before you're allowed to play again.
I get what you're saying, though. Frankly, I'm tired of how many new games are MMOs. Take a look at mmorpg.com and see how many are on the horizon. And so many of them are advertising themselves as "the next big MMO". Granted, some of them have interesting concepts (Chronicles of Spellborn, Pirates of the Burning Sea), but most of them are retreads with a few upgrades in place over the current crop. And likely half of them won't be done right, and another large chunk will be cancelled before they're released.
Where have you been reading negative impressions of this? From what I've been reading, developers who have actually had a hands-on experience with it are extremely excited by it. It seems those who haven't touched it (3DRealms CEO) are the ones who have given negative impressions.
You can call my judgement regarding humor into question, but it's hard to deny that it's much less funny when it constantly references jokes from the previous (funnier) seasons.
I would love to have a new car that is much better with fuel and better for the environment. But the fact of the matter is, I can barely afford to pay for my used car and rent, bills, etc.
Your refund is an intriguing idea, but don't most places charge you your heating costs monthly? And don't most places charge heat, water, electricity, and other utilities monthly? It would make month-to-month living much harder for the lower and middle classes, especially on their first year of being independent, since they wouldn't be eligible for this credit until (I would assume) they were a head-of-household.
Don't forget digg. 95% of the users only know how to say "lolol this is cool" and "DIGG+++++++++". And don't get me started on their archaic, non-threading comment system.
I'm not going to argue the morality of it. I do think it is wrong to pirate games. I believe in supporting a developer if I want to see them make games in the future.
But if the Porsche I was "stealing" could be completely replicated using zeroes and ones and a few commands built into a computer, I don't believe anyone is hurt since there is no cost to replication. Nobody to pay for the materials. Nobody to put those zeroes and ones together.
I'm just tired of the "Oh, now my kids don't have anything to eat because you stole this game" argument. Point is, your kids are going to be starving whether I pirate the game, or I choose to go without.
Everything except play games.
If only I had mod points.

It'd actually be very hard, since the CFL uses a 150x65 yard field and 12 players on the field, among other rules.

If I'm not mistaken, they also have exclusive rights to the team names. Even worse than not having the player names, in my opinion.
Kate is probably what you are thinking of.

That must mean that Duke Nukem Forever can't be too far off!

I think it has progressed past rumors at this point. Second-to-last post, straight from Billy West himself, confirms it is coming back as 4 feature length movies.D =1685&PN=1&TPN=4

But its taken a lot less time for Family Guy to get less funny than when it began.

Those Itanium boxes must be huge!

Nice try. Thanks for playing the analogy game. But Sony Online didn't command Sony Music to install security-comprimising DRM onto their CDs.
As you may or may not know, Sony Online did not distribute the millions of CDs which destroyed millions of computers' security. That was Sony Music.
