I installed Ubuntu 5.10 on my desktop last night. The default option was that it was going to automatically partition my disk. I had to go through a few menus in order to do it manually. Then, it selected a compatible video driver and automatically setup X for me, aside from my preferred resolutions.

'Kill' was a little strong for how I meant to use it. What I really meant to say (and can now find any data backing me up) is that Reiser4 deals with the disk so intensely that it uncovers flaws and errors that other filesystems may (A) never find, or (B) live with.

I'd look through the Namesys page, but it's large and the TOC didn't reveal any warnings.. or I wasn't looking hard enough.

Reiser4 kills old disks, supposedly. I (mistakenly) used it on my (at the time) year old laptop, and after about 4-6 months I kept getting something like "drive seek complete" errors. It got to the point where it wouldn't boot because of the errors. So I had to reinstall everything, and no data could be saved since reiser4 hated my drive. Been running Reiser3 ever since, and I haven't had any problems.... yet.

If it's any consolation, my Toshiba Satellite 1115-S130 (?) does the same exact thing, except it was purchased two years ago. I can leave a compilation running while I'm out of the house unless I leave the lid open enough for heat to escape, or else I come back to my laptop off and usually not functional when I boot since my updated software is looking at old config files.

Plus I get the same problem I've seen with two other Toshiba notebooks so far where it will stop charging the battery, even though the AC adapter is plugged into both the wall and the laptop firmly.

Can I please slap him after American Graffiti? The original Star Wars trilogy was decent and all, but the acting and dialogue was atrocious. He is still a horrible writer, as shown in the latest trilogy. My point exactly. If you've seen the Nintendo promotional video, you'll have definitely gotten this point. Sure, they all look like douchebags playing it (and, sure, they're overacting), but you still wanna see what's so exciting to make them act like douchebags.

Because absolutely nobody has bought a video game console since they were introduced, right? Not everybody is going to play it, but some will see people acting like fools playing it, then become interested in it. Yes, that does sound awfully elitist of you. Non-gamers will know about the Revolution for the same way they knew about it in the 70s. Print ads, TV commercials, billboards, word-of-mouth, and such. They may not be going into GameStop, but they're probably going into Best Buy. They can see it on display there. They can see it as they're shopping next Christmas in the mall and walk by one of the many game stores. You're acting like gaming is hush-hush. Its not Fight Club. It is possible for people to see something they've never touched and comment on it to their other friends who are not familiar with it.
