until they are released on bail or finish serving their sentence
You do understand that bail isn't punishment, right?
When you are arrested, you are taken before a judge, the judge looks at your criminal record and the charges being brought against you, and sets bail at a level he or she deems appropriate. If you are viewed to be a flight risk, bail may be denied.
Bail is simply your guarantee to hang around until your trial, and when your trial begins, the bail is refunded to you. Bail isn't a fee you can pay to replace jail time, it's just a way of promising to stay in the area until your real trial can begin. If you cannot make bail, you are supposed to be kept in a smallish jail until the trial.
If she can afford a Blackberry, then there's no reason to believe she cannot afford insurance. Surely medical care is more important of an expense than a fancy cell phone.
I disagree. The Koran, and the Bible, make it very easy to kill somebody for a "crime" that any enlightened person living in the 21st century wouldn't view as punishable, let alone worthy of murder.
Small quibble, but the Qu'ran isn't where the prohibition against drawings of Muhammad comes from. It's from other, non-Qu'ranic sources called the Hadith, I believe.
Neutrinos do not see the strong force, which is where the color charge comes from. Neutrinos interact with the weak force, and gravity. They have no color charge, and no electric charge, so they are basically dumb to the idea of the strong and electromagnetic forces.
BSG and Caprica were on Sci-Fi (I refuse to spell it the way they do). That channel is on cable, as such the FCC has no ability to punish them for "indecent" material. I suppose they could issue a fine, and failure to pay said fine would result in revocation of their license, but since it's a cable channel, they don't have an FCC license to lose.
In approximately 10^40 years, every galaxy will be nothing but black holes. By then, all stars will either have become white dwarfs or black holes, and the white dwarfs will have even cooled off to become black dwarfs. I suppose there would be some neutron stars for large stars that couldn't reach the mass limit that turns them into black holes.
But a galaxy of nothing but black holes? Nah. It would require nothing but very massive stars, and these stars are very rare, compared to the number of stars in the universe.
The ACLU doesn't fight for self defense rights, but I'm not aware of any situations where they're fought to prevent people from exercising those rights. They just don't spend any time defending the rights.
While it would be nice for them to have given Heller some additional council, the ACLU still defends a lot of other rights.
If the little bastard doesn't know what the word means, then it won't carry any meaning. If they DO know what it means, then the little shit is already familiar with the word, so you can't shock them.
If you curse on TV, the FCC will fine you. The FCC is a government agency, levying a fine against you. Since the 5th amendment protects due process, presumably these fines make it illegal to use certain words on broadcast TV or the radio.
I live in Florida. The attitude for the whole state seems to be "we're the southern most northern state". People around here don't seem to realize that Florida was the third state to leave the Union during the Civil War. But there's lots of rednecks, if you leave the cities. And sweet tea, if you can stand that crap.
A Christian foundation is laughable? How so? One of the prime leaders of the revolution was Samuel Adams, a christian preacher. The writings of George Washington contain frequent references to "God" and "our Creator". Thomas Jefferson, as president, signed his documents: "on this date 180x, in the year of our lord, Jesus Christ". He even created his own bible called the Jesus Bible which focused on quoting Jesus of Nazareth.
Most of the founding fathers, including Washington, were NOT Christian. They were Deists. Deists believe in a creator god, but they believe that after that deity started things up, it walked away. They didn't pray, and they didn't worship the thing. Many of them believed Jesus was a nice guy, but they rejected his divinity, which is a core tenant of Christianity.
Have you read Jefferson's bible? The way he wrote it was by reading the original bible, and removing any supernatural events from it. Most of Genesis is gone. The virgin birth is gone. The resurrection is gone.
History is about facts, and getting as close to the truth as possible. To pretend the Founders were not Christians is anti-truth and makes you no better than the Texan book-writers.
You should read more facts about the founders before you make assertions like that.

A man who had a six year old wife suffering from mental illness? Don't be silly.
A MOBILE phone vs insurance? A home phone is one thing, but not a mobile.
Betelgeuse isn't millions of light-years away from Earth. It's in our Galaxy, about 600 light years away.
While I don't know what the official C99 standard says, I know that GCC enforces const if your C program has it.
At best, the compiler would date back to Grace Hopper, as she was the person who invented the compiler. I believe it was for Fortran.

Maybe it was intentionally ironic?
I doubt it, but it's POSSIBLE.
I dare say it's offensive, and he's a dick for implying it. But as a better person, I wouldn't lynch somebody for that.

What rare element? I thought that BRDs and DVDs used aluminum, just like CDs did.
Is that also why modern laserjets are so much smaller?

Why would you limit speech around children?

As Lenny Bruce once said:
"Take away the right to say 'fuck', and you take away the right to say 'fuck the police'."

Why not just partition the drive?
If they were only concerned with history books, you might have a point. But these asshats are trying to rewrite SCIENCE books too.

The Bubbas don't speak for everyone down there, they just seem to get the most coverage.
They also seem to get the most votes for State Board of Education.
Call up Dell and TI. Tell them to vote these morons out.
