I thought that they meant Lycoris, the people who make the lycoris distro of linux! Yeah their right! I really like Lycoris. Runs well, simple to use (especially for MS users).
In fact, according to the site, they said
Gary Krakow of MSNBC Loves Desktop/LX
A glowing review of the Lycoris OS "...that's as mindless to install as Microsoft's Windows."
Runs more stable, and cheaper. Linux that a MS user can use. Now that's amazing!
And in other news, a study, paid for by Microsoft has shown that the chances of spontanious human combustion rise significantly where a person uses Linux/Unix/Apple/Anything that competes with Microsoft/BSD.
Microsoft chairman and chief software architect Bill Gates gave the following comments. "Because the chances of Spontanious Human Combustion are so much higher, for non-Microsoft users, we feel that it our moral obligation to rid the earth of every other technology but our own."
In other news, a recent study paid for by a slashdot moderator has shown that CmdrTaco has the lead in the current presidential race......
Did anyone notice in the article where it said SCO got more than 900 calls the first week after announcing the licensing program, Stowell said. Of those, 300 were serious inquiries that could immediately be followed up on....
You can't. Negotiations are part of my intellectual property. And so are licences. For every licence SCO sells, I will make them buy a licence for the negotionations and another for the licence. And one for the licence for the licence for the licence... And for the licence of the licence of the licence of the licence.....
If I pay for the service, I want the full service. I want the option of getting hit by blaster. I want the option of getting spam. I want the option of getting Windows Messenger ads nonstop.
I don't want these, but I want to have the option to have them if I want. I don't want my ISP to automatically filter all my trafic. I want the option to get all my data or get filtered data. Once filtering is begun, it becomes easier to filter other less desirable thing. (Even if it isn't less desirable for the end customer)
Yes, Microsoft does believe that idea's should be free. Take this
for example. Microsoft thought they should be able to get Burst.com's "intellectual property" for free. (Never did like the idea of intellectual property, but oh well)
No one has to work on Linux. They do because they enjoy Linux. They (usually) don't get paid to do so. Microsoft employees get paid to make software work right. Which one should I get upset at when things don't work? The one who gets paid to do this job or the one who does it for free.
And in 2008, KDE will finally do what Longhorn does.
But I switched to Linux to avoid the BSOD, DRM, the MS EULA, XP, and every other acronym Microsoft has ever used. (Well, besides things like GUI, DOS...)
1) They will try to convience the German government to go back to Microsoft instead of SuSE
2) They will not have to abide by the penalties of the antitrust suit refering to "Windows"
Don't forget the fact that my copy of Windows cost me several hours worth of work. My copy of RedHat cost me bandwidth. It was made by people who write software because they enjoy writing software. I think that's reason to cut them slack.
However, this is different. The network adminstrators' job is to keep any damage from happening to his system. By not reporting him, he would be neglecting his job. Possible but not likely to happen by any geek.
And now, as a graduate technical institute of slashdot we would like to present you with a token of our appreciation. Unfortunately, it's kinda hard to do online. Oh well.

Tell me about it. I was the geek at our high school. The only geek. All we operated was Microsoft on Desktops. I never used Linux until the county computer guy introduced me to it. I made several failed attempts at using Linux then found a distro I really liked.
But what caused me to want to learn Linux?
1) Microsoft's EULA and licensing system.
2) The price of a copy of Windows
3) The Blue Screen of Death
4) Product Activation
5) Microsoft's changing file formats with every version of office.
I do not, however hate Microsoft. I use Windows when I have to. I don't mind. Given the choice I would instantly choose Linux Mandrake, though. I do try and persuade people to use Linux, but I help these same people on their Windows box (probably why I try and switch them over).
Security wasn't to big of an issue with me. I decided to end my abusive relationship with Bill with the release of XP. I don't want to have to activate windows. I don't like the straight-jacket EULA. I also got really annoyed that they kept changing file formats for what I believed to be vendor lock in.
I didn't mind the way Windows was coded. I got tired of getting slapped in the face by Microsoft's lawyers. That's why I switched to Linux.
I'm a freshman in college this year (not at VT, mind you.) I know a good deal of C++. So I get to take "An introduction to computers". Woopdy. I can't take C++ yet. First they're going to teach me some BASIC! (Great, I've only done BASIC for about 6 years in a row. Quit to learn C++, though).

At least it has for me. :)

In future? Maybe in the future. :p

Lunix? Is that like a mixture of Luna and Linux? Where can I download Lunix?!
