But nowadays almost all lcds are hd-ready (1280x720), so anyone who get a new tv set would probably prefer a higher resolution, and PAL are quite crappy really, especially for 2 player games like mario kart and similair.
So I wouldn't be so sure it doesn't matter in 5 years, althought sure, it probably only matters to like 1-2% of the people here right now. And the price are 3 times as high for the console if you want HDTV, even more for the actuall TV set (32" 100hz 16:9 crt are real cheap now)
Intresting points about SD, USB and the developer kit, I didn't know.
I think it's the controller which will make the huge difference thought. Metroid prime fps on the revolution yes please =P, and the best thing is: It will come some day!:D
I'm not _that_ impressed with "retro gaming", with a chipped xbox or gamecube you can already play a lot of old games, nothing new to see here. Except it's officially supported and legal that is.
The controller and low price is what will make it a success. The only thing speaking against it is that it doesn't do HDTV but I guess Nintendo could afford to get one more console out supporting HDTV aswell later on if they wanted to. It's not very likely that their development cost for the hardware is even close to that of Sony and Microsoft.
Also I wouldn't like the fact that it feels like you are paying for a non finished product and then pay even more to get that you should have had, even if I do understand that the micropayments are supposed to cover more stuff which shouldn't have been there if noone used them.
Atleast blizzard added more maps for free to Warcraft III, the extra heroes and units and new solo missions where sold as an extension (which imho is ok since I knew I didn't had to pay even more later.)
I'm not a fan of the pay per month either since I don't do a lot of gaming.
This is exactly what is wrong with ALL the reviews and screenshots of car games. Search for any new one and the images are always replay / camera shots, not inside-looking-forward screenshots which actually tells how the game looks when you are playing it. The replay / between level shots always looks nice but who gives a shit? Back in the days when I got my A500+ I thought that the wood in the "Heimdahl" game intro looked real.
Yeah, I thought about diablo instead. It's not that advanced. Also I guess most ports of "regular" games like monopoly and stuff like that works but maybe it's not fun enough. Worms maybe? Maybe some golf game or whatever, something which isn't advanced and that you/him haven't played a lot. Super mario strikers?

Earlier I used an ATA box and a SIP VoIP from Bredbandsbolaget (sweden, all of the rest aswell) and then I switched to Rix Telecom which I only use together with a softphone, I'm considering switching to Affinity Telecom since you don't pay anything per month and get a free ATA box if you sign up for 12 months (I haven't found the catch in that...)
Anyway, I call with software only and yes it works. For Windows and others gizmo project has a client which seems nice, but I think it only works with their servers. SJlabs SJphone is the client I thought where best in Windows and there is a Linux version aswell. Another client is Xten X-lite which I avoided since the GUI looked so weird (it tend to do on them all.)
Free as in speach clients for the UNIX world has been quite crappy in comparision, the best are probably linphone both kphone might work aswell.
Anyway yes it do works! In Linux with ALSA I would rate the sound quality ekiga / SJphone on first place, then linphone and last kphone. For the interface SJphone, ekiga, kphone, linphone. The bad thing with SJphone in Linux was that it didn't had any calling tones if you didn't set up a command yourself to run when you got incoming calls. But I didn't know if it would kill it aswell or repeat it or anything so I never did and therefor never knew if anyone called;)
I haven't read the books but shouldn't the other book be a better choice for someone who just wants to learn PostgreSQL and not just together with PHP? Or am I missing something here? Is the PHP-book better?
I don't care that much about PHP.
Ok, the N64 I can understand since it didn't used CD-roms and where more expensive to release games for and therefor they lost third party titles. But the Gamecube? What is really wrong with it? It's better than the PS2 for a cheaper price, the controller feels good. What is wrong? Lack of DVD-player?
Yes, mouse and keyboard owns dual analogue sticks anytime. But the revolution controller will do better (except it might strain your wrist a little after hours of game play i suppose.)
In a TV-show just a few weeks ago here in Sweden they tried to figure out what a socialist was. So they went out and asked people of various kinds, including Göran Persson (our current head of state and of the party Socialdemokraterna), what it was, and in Görans case if he was one.
But Göran didn't considered himself as a socialist, instead he considered himself to be a Socialdemokrat.
I tried running them from/tmp as a regular user (not extracted by root), don't know if that matters but I guess not, anyway it crashed:

Ah, that explains how you can keep your sun tan aswell.
Ok, I where wondering if that was the case or not, in any case I guess it doesn't use any sort of encryption and validates with a key or something?
:)
In any case I guess it doesn't matter since noone would belive their computer where totally safe after having turned it on
So what stops someone else from turning of your elite alarm?

You can still write the body of the e-mail locally, encrypt the data, copy the resulting text into gmail and then send the e-mail.
;)
But who cares, mutt rocks
Revolution will outsell xbox360 a lot, not sure about the ps3 thought.
;)
Look back here in 2 years
But now he talked about the game, not the console...
Probably none, or atleast very slim.

Same problem.

Ekiga is good.

Yeah, and I think that is why Xbox succed at all. Who in there right minds whould have bought the Xbox if it wasn't because of the mod-chips?
But nowadays the Gamecube are chipable aswell. But I guess the games are harder to come buy than for the Xbox and even PS2.

Ok, I know about mario kart, smash brothers and mario party. But what more good games are there? Give a list.
... ?
Metroid Prime I and II
Zelda windwaker
Prince of persia: The two thrones
Worms 3D
Super Mario Strikers

Get a gamecube now and get rid of Windows tomorrow.
That's what I've been wondering since I read about it. Guess not since it uses the same socket and chipset then?
You mean attacking others while not takeing a risk yourself?

My brain lacks the codecs to, also even if I had the codecs I would lack hardware acceleration and the fps would drop significally.
Yeah, but you are running x86. (Also I don't know how "legal" it really is, would be way better to use another codec anyway.)
