I mean, look at all of our faults and problems, and anything we create will have the same issue.
though if they're all microsoft powered, we dont have to worry because they'll blue screen of death when they try to crush someone's head in. that or they'll force microsoft upon us all.
eerily enough, you can prolly assume the worst and it'll prolly happen, this shit isnt sci-fi anymore, it's becoming a reality, and I think we should take precautions if we want to make them learn. like, if they try to attack humans or other robots, they'll be stopped dead in their tracks, not to mention there needs to be a regulation that will prevent AI robots from being used in wars, etc..

knowing politics and people, the worst will happen .
hell, a scenario like the matrix might not be that far out if we keep wanting to make machines that will be better than us in every way.

But I can find more than that on a free p2p network!

seriously, there's a lot more music out there than 500,000 tracks.. I'm betting they only serve the mainstream music, which leaves people who have interest in different styles of uncommon music in the cold, hence why the service will probably fail, because of those rare or odd tracks that cant be found on there, and face it, people dont want to pay... also, is it 99 cents per play? if that's the case, then they're gonna die out even quicker than before. that's like sending money every time your cd loops a song. whatever.
if I pay money, I better be able to keep the song.
Also, if the do let you keep the song, you know how they can prevent illegal distribution? extra tag info that isnt editable and is encrypted that's added in when the user downloads the song, so they know where it came from.. looking in the best interests that way.
but still, there's even glitches to that.. sound recorders and file cache. either record the song from the applet, or record the song when you download it (presuming you can)

it's not failsafe.. but hey, you had that coming in the new technology age.
either charge decent fees for cd's (aka, less than 30 dollars for a cd) or go bankrupt is what I say.
and it's been proven when you sell something good at a low cost, but not too low, you end up making more money, because you get more consumers than before.
if they had done that before p2p... maybe they wouldnt be in this mess, have they ever thought that this whole mess is their fault?

  17. This is what I find funny on SGI Code Changes Not Enough, Says SCO · · Score: 0, Interesting

is that you can easily consider windows, dos, etc unix.
Dos is a deriviative of unix, (a bad one) and dos begat windows. so technically, windows is unix deep down. Dont forget Xenix, a microsoft-based unix back in the 80's.
and at the rate of nonsense sco's yammering at, they would be going after microsoft.. but they arent, why? because I bet that microsoft is backing this nonsense. ironically this starts just a linux starts getting some real muscle on it, and now microsoft is starting the DRM shit... it's too ironic to be coincidences... it's all working hand in hand.
SCO could sue microsoft, but for some reason, they havent even made a move towards it.
oh and they could slam apple next, since it uses NeXT and Darwin; which they'll more than likely do.
Basically, SCO's bullying all of microsoft's competition right and left with very little regard for their own well being, which they probably have some nice cuts of fresh money waiting for them after doing all of this.
However, all it'll do is get these companies pissed off, and they'll either start their own systems from scratch or fully back linux. (which would be nice)
SCO's going to find themselves in the Corporation obituaries soon enough, so really, we need to stop bitching about their bullshit, I wouldnt be surprised if they were reading through all these comments for ideas on their next targets (aka other companies that use "unix" )

anyways, I do like his idea on fixing common internet problems, however, a lot of that would be simple to fix, example, smtp has been a standard for decades, yet, it's one of the most exploitable protocols ever in existance, all is needed to be done is fix the mail protocol so it cant be so easily abused, (inet6 will help with this as well)

is alienate microsoft from their bigger spenders, who want linux, but are forced to have a microsoft system and forced to pay the fees, not to mention this would hurt the motherboard makers as well who would have to pay royalty fees to microsoft to use the new award bios, they'd switch away quickly, and motherboard makers are big players in the industry might I add, hopefully, linux will have a bit more leverage and enough to banish microsoft to a few OEM's (dell, compaq, gateway namely)
sad, really, the award bios has been on one of the best, but it's gonna get bastardized.
it's going to be interesting to say the least, linux torvalds said linux is ready for anything like this. already has DRM compatibility.
all someone has to do is dump the bios into a file and have at it, crack it, find out the "authentication" and voila, compatibility in the next linux kernel release.
