  1. well... on Replacing the Aging Init Procedure on Linux · · Score: 1

New stuff is nice, and to those who call this bloated, do you realize that the current system is pretty bloated as well? *gasp* *shock*
using shell scripts that execute a shitload of commands means a bunch of (unneeded) processes are started up at boot up.
now this new system looks bloated as well, here's the thing, why not fix the current init system?
instead of using shell, use C binaries instead, but have a package that has the C sources for these binaries, be much faster and efficient. wouldnt hurt at all.
this systemservices thing looks nice, but for some reason, the term "microsoft" comes to mind when I see that name.
of course we're trying to pull away fro the whole SCO deal too to make them really look like jackasses.

personally, I think ths should replace init on "desktop" linux systems, for sysadmin and hardcore geek systems, regular init should stay, or at least tinkered with, it hasnt changed much, it should be changed.
think it's funny how he uses redhat as an example, redhat isnt a good example for anything, he should look at slackware or debian.

    whatever, I have a headache.

the next 10 years will be very interesting.
I do not see how microsoft will survive..
I mean they are and arent like IBM, see, IBM had much more going for it than an operating system.
they had PC's, servers, and all kinds of hardware, they flopped in the PC and OS category, and microsoft and independent PC makers kicked them aside, IBM has thrived on helping opensource, manufacturing computer hardware, etc. they have a survival plan. now they back free software, because hey, it's just software, you gotta have a machine to run the software.
microsoft is mainly software and stock shares, they do make computers, but they're just as shoddy as the software they make, when microsoft falls, they're going to fall VERY hard. IBM fell, but they had plenty of padding to help them surive, I suggest to Mr. Gates that he better start saving up his money and start looking for a place to retire, because his time is coming up.

but then again, let's not too cocky, because you never know what will happen, thus why I say the next 10 years will be interesting.
I bet in the end, all the other countries, except the US will have freedom to choose what software they want to use, while the us has to use microsoft as their operating system, the way special interest has a stranglehold on the government.
it's gonna be a wild ride.

why dont we have the government tell us where to work and what to watch as well? and how much we will work for, etc.. people want the government to control every aspect of their lives, if you want that, move to north korea, freedom comes with responsibility for yourself and your actions. anyways, I really dont notice the product placement at all, never have. now, when we see stuff like the actors stopping in the middle of a fight scene and saying "drink new lime coca cola!" then I think that's when people should STOP WATCHING the show instead of asking the government to control another aspect of their daily lives. however, that isnt possible because most people are lazy and trying to get ahead of the person in the next cubicle over. it's sad, it seems like we're headed for an orwellian society. oh and by the way, if you missed all the bold letters, read each letter, I put product placement in my post.. is some group going to go after me now? I hope so, so then I can laugh at them.

I hear those are coming back into style. also, ban technology from the common person. in seriousness, this is getting out of hand and it only proves that these people are liars, if you watched a nightline special they aired a while back talking about the patriot act and how it steps on our rights, john ashcroft and his cronies were saying "this cant ever be used against americans, because that would be highly illegal" one term for that. BULLSHIT. I mean, seriously, obvious lying too, they shifted a lot while talking, blinked, looked around, never made eye contact with the interviewer, etc. if anyone hasnt listened to the george carlin skit about "american bullshit" I suggest you do. The reason why they want Adrian Lamo's blood so badly is that he's a "terrorist" to them now, technically, we all are to them, becuase we still hold more power (legally) than the government, however, they know they control us through media and other shit, so, passing some acts that will rip apart the constitution and the ammendments wont be noticed because people dont pay attention to anything but the mainstream. so, do that, take away our guns, we're no longer a threat. My US History teacher used to serve in the California senate, She understands the rights we have, that the second ammendment isnt some law that was made back in the days when we "needed" guns. it was on of those laws that was generalized. Second Ammendment (1791) Weapons and the Militia A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. basically, even though we have a military, that doesnt mean the people dont need guns. look what happened to poland.. and look at switzerland; switzerland, it's required you have a gun. and look at them, they're the only country that hasnt been taken over yet. The point is, the government has no right to do this, and since it's an act, not a bill, people do not have to follow it, if they get arrested, they can take it to the supreme court. (depending if they get locked away for life or not, thanks to the second revision of the patriot act, which is about to get passed as an act.) too many people do not realize what freedoms they have, and the ones that do, are made out as lunatics, anarchists, traitors, or terrorists. it's a sad fact. Oh great land of the free. I love this country but I dont love the government. Sadly, Canada will prolly become the new land of the free, that is if america doesnt do a political takeover of canada first and force our terrorism laws onto canada and make them follow them, etc. who the hell knows?

like I've said, whatever gives us new and improved technology, if it werent for the last space race, we wouldnt have the internet or modern day computers, or velcro..
because technically, right now, we're still using old technology in the computer field and internet field.. we should be years ahead of what we're currently at, but thanks to monopolies like microsoft, we havent, it's like how the aerospace industry works.. a company with technology years ahead of everyone else get muscled and bullied by the monopolizing companies (northrop, boeing, etc) and usually dont get any attention, there's this one company that uses new technology and aircraft years ahead of anything boeing or northrop can make and they get the cold shoulder, mainly do to the fact that their technology doesnt blow up 3rd world countries in an efficient manner, so politicians and the military ignore such technology, sad fact really, what's used in aerospace is technology that is 50 years old, but it's still peddled..the SR-71 was a leap in technology, but after that, we dropped back in technology... new things scare people too, maybe that's it too, who knows..
