I'm still not buying it. Do these developers even play their own games? I'm asking because if they actually did, they would have found out about this one pretty easily. I noticed it almost right off the bat. Loading a saved game on high difficulty level isn't exactly an uncommon thing for someone who plays games to do you know.
Should we really be happy that an absolutely brilliant game could lose people jobs because of one bug?
Yes we should. I'm sick and tired of companies that decide to push their products out the door early and force us all to be beta testers. Take the proper time to test your products before you release them. I hope they have to recall every X-Box game produced and a whole bunch of people get fired. Maybe that will teach these executives that are always rushing things to slow the fuck down and give the developers the proper time to develop and QA the proper time to test.
Why is it considered news when some entity considers Linux? It's not news. It would be news if the decided to go with Linux, not if there considering it. Are they considering Microsoft as well? Yes. Then why isn't the story titled "France Considers Open Souce and Microsoft"?
Right now, I'm considering taking a shit, but it wouldn't be an actual event unless I took a shit.
I'm sure this will be marked as a troll or flamebait, but it's a valid point. I'm tired of reading articles about what some country or some city is considering. I don't care and I'm pretty sure that most people who read this site don't care either. Now when said country or city actually makes a fucking decision then that would be news and by all mean report it.
Your exactly right. Before 0.6 almost nothing got through and there were almost never false positives. Now there are 4 or 5 spams that have been getting through every day. I just reset the training data and am going to spend the next week or so retraining the filters. Hopefully that will do the trick.
Believe it or not, I am forced to use Outlook 2003 at the office and it actually does a better job than Thunderbird has been doing since the 0.6 release. Hopefully the developers see the error of their ways and go back to the old filters or further tweak the new ones to work out the kinks.
Once again, California is one step ahead of the rest of the country.
Yes indeed it is one step ahead of every other state when it comes to taxing it's citizens and businesses into oblivion and spending like there's no tomorrow.
That's right, but a great deal of people say America when in fact they talk about USA.
That's probably because the United States of America is the only country in America that has the word America in its name. Besides, the term America as you would want us to use it is a grouping. It's all of the countries in North and South America. There is almost never a need to use the term America when speaking of North and South America. When's the last time you heard someone use the term Eurasia in a sentence outside of some geography or history class? Never, because Europe and Asia are so freaking different there's almost never a reason to group them togather in that manner. Same with America, it's almost never used in casual conversation to refer to North and South America becasue North and South America are so differnt from one another.
So, in short, when people say America they mean the United States of America and for a fairly practical reason. One, the United States of America is the only country in America to have America in it's title. Two, the term America is almost never used outside of school. That's the way it is, get over it.
If you Canadians hate it so much then why don't you guys change your name to the Canadian Provinces of America. Then you'd have a much more legitimate reason to bitch and moan.
Oh common! After all the crap we get from Linux users every time an exploit is found in Windows, you have to expect that were going to give you guys some shit when it happens to you, primarliy because it doesn't happen that often.
How good of a distro is it? I'm a Linux newbie who's trying to decide on which distro to run. I've installed and used both SuSE and Redhat in the past as a second OS on my primary system to try things out. I just got a new PC and will be wiping the old one and installing Linux. Should I give Xandros a try?
I installed 0.9 and went "Ahhh! Ugly!". I thought the 0.8 theme was way better. I followed this guys tip now I'm really digging the 0.9 theme. I hope the developers follow suite and make the spacing smaller in the release version.
Perhaps you overlooked the fact that MS is a monopoly.
If Microsoft is a monopoly then please explain this whole Linux and OpenOffice.org thing to me. I was under the impression that they were an open source alternative to Microsoft Windows and an open source alternative to Microsoft Office respectively.
Cash is old technology--hundreds of years. Why we insist on sticking with it is beyond me.
So basically what you're saying is that you want the government to be able to keep track of every single penny we spend, where we spend it and what we spend it on?
Credit cards, checks, electronic transactions, etc. are truly wonderful things that can certainly make life easier and more convenient. That being said, there will always be a place for cold, hard cash. I don't want a record of every single purchase, transaction or exchange of money that I make, and I believe that I'm not alone in saying that.
Now, I'm sure you'll counter with the fact that it's possible to get rid of cash, go completely electronic and still retain some form of anonymity when certain transfers take place. That is a very slippery slope my friend. Once cash is eliminated, what's then to stop the government from mandating that there be some type of record for all transactions further down the road? I can just see the government (under either Republicans or Democrats) coming out and saying that the terrorists are using this scheme to transfer money and therefore we must now track every transaction that occurs. I can think of many other scenarios in addition to terrorism that government could also use to try and justify something like that.
Of course, it probably wouldn't happen over night, in one fell swoop. That would certainly put citizens in an uproar and isn't likely to happen. Erosions of freedom in democracies tend to happen slowly, over time. The government would peel back anonymity for one transaction type at time, for reasons that would probably seem justifiable on some level. But make no mistake about it, the day would eventually come when the government would demand that there be a record of almost every type of transaction that a person makes. I'm sure corporations would probably have ways around it, put individual citizens would probably be out of luck. You know, kind of like the income tax system we have today. Where corporations and they most wealthy citizens can hide profits in elaborate tax shelters to avoid paying their fare share of income tax, but the average citizen is screwed because their employer has to report to the government exactly how much they are paid.
It is a well known fact that governments tend to get grow and abuse their power along the way. While there are many headaches associated with cash, there is also great freedom that comes along with it. I simply refuse to give that up because some other form of funds transfer maybe more convenient, more secure and/or harder to counterfeit. Especially in this day and age, with the constant assaults on our freedoms by corporations and groups of corporations (RIAA, MPAA) and the government (Patriot Act). Let's not give them all one more easy opportunity erode even more of our previous freedom.
Why do you assume he sold it to generate a profit? You are projecting your own limited personality only. Perhaps he founded the project, got bored, sold it for what he thought was a fair price, and got on with his next project that he thought was more interesting?
Assume? Why do you assume that I don't know what I'm talking about? I looked it up. There's this crazy little thing I like to call Google, you might try using it every once in a while. The guy sold the site for a profit. Look it up before you assume that I don't know what I'm talking about..?
Please meta-moderate who-ever modded this post up. Passing on a project is the same as 'violating' the principles of the founder? This paragraph doesn't even make sense.
Someone needs to meta moderate your post. Your probably the jack ass that sold the site and then submitted the article. Let me repeat it again because obviously you don't get it. If you sell something you don't have any right to bitch about what the new owner does with it. Zero, nada, nothing, no right to bitch period. If you sell out to some corporate whore and then expect that said corporate whore won't sell out as well, your an idiot.
We don't live in a pure capitalistic society, we live in a pragmatic capitalist society. Occasionally people, and not just the dollar, have their say. If people agree with him and boycott the site, costing more than they gained through the M$ sponsorship, then "hey, that's capitalism baby".
Now that's the funniest thing I've read in a while. What are you still in college or something? Just wait until you graduate. Then, welcome to the real fucking world. This country was bought and paid for a long time ago. Money talks and bull shit walks. Now, that may not be the case in Podunkville, USA, but I encourage you to visit Washington DC, New York City or LA. You know, where things actually happen and the decisions are made. Go there and give your little speach to the decision makers, if you can even get your foot in the door. They'lll laugh at you all the way to to bank.
Feel free to say it over and over and over. You must be early teens if you've never started a project, then handed it on to move onto the next one. Oddly enough, most of us do "move on".
No, apparently I have to say it over and over because people like don't seem to get it. If you start something, then sell out, you have absolutely no right to bitch and moan if whoever purchases it does something you don't like. If you cared so much, you wouldn't have sold the thing in the first place. If you choose to sell, then you don't have any right to complain if the new owner does something you don't like. The entire reason I included the last paragraph was to make my point clear. Even though I had stated it like three times. Why you ask? Because some douche bag like you comes along who reads the post, responds, but doesn't fucking get it. So apparently I have to say it over and over and over and over. In fact, you right, I shouldn't even bother. Either you have a clue and understand what I'm saying, or you a fucking idiot and you don't. Kind of like the guy who sold out, and exactly like you.
I'm calling bullshit here. This guy sells his site to someone else to generate a profit. He then proceeds to bitch and moans when the current owners sell add space, also for a profit, and an add apears that the he doesn't agree with. It's complete and total bullshit.
If he really cared about that site he wouldn't have sold it. Instead, he sells out to some corporate whore and then has the audicity to bitch and moan when said corporate whore, acting as all corporate whores do, sells out by selling add space to some other corporate whore who spreads FUD. Newsflash buddy, you sold out just the same as the current owners are selling out.
I have no problem with people who start something and then sell it. It's called capitalism baby, but don't bitch and moan when whoever buys it does something you don't like. You sold the thing, if it was that important you shouldn't have sold it, but you did, so shut up and move on.
Flame me all you want, but things like this tick me off. Oh and don't give me this "but the spirit of the site is being violated" crap. If he cared so much about the spirit of the site, as I've said over and over again, he wouldn't have sold it.
Hehe, that's funny until you consider that it's Microsoft were talking about and that there have been fixes for fixes for fixes... which is just plain said:-)
A good rule of thumb is to wait a week to a week and a half before deploying any update. That way if there are issue with it and you do your homework you'll know about it and wait for a fix, if a fix hasn't already been released.
Which confirms what we all already know, that the average computer user is an idiot.
I'm still not buying it. Do these developers even play their own games? I'm asking because if they actually did, they would have found out about this one pretty easily. Fuck you is two words, so is cock sucker. Perhaps I'll combine them. Fuck you cock sucker!

So now instead of only lasting a little over 8 hours, now my cell phone battery will last a little over 3!

Hello McFly ... I was joking.
Yes indeed it is one step ahead of every other state when it comes to taxing it's citizens and businesses into oblivion and spending like there's no tomorrow.
Deja fucking Vu .... and while I'm at it ... Go Pistons!

The fix is available here.

So there it is, flame away :-)

A Freudian slip perhaps?
No buying necessary. iTunes includes an MP3 encoder.
It's better than making purchasing decisions on the advice of anyone at Enron.

21%? Jesus H. Christ man, where do you live? Sales tax where I live is 6%, and you can get around that buy purchasing things on the Internet.
There's actually quite a few, just ask Steve Jobs.
