remember though, guys, that this doesn't mean that the rest of the system will be compliant with *ATX or the new BTX... so it might not work on your whitebox computer
my bet is that the in the end the korean guys will be forgotten and only the americans will be remembered... same thing happens on a smaller scale with the graduate students doing the research and the professor... that's how it works. it's not fair.
how is "an underwater epic about the bizarre creatures that flourish in the hot, sulfurous emanations from vents in the ocean floor" offensive in any way?
we shouldn't let a minority dictate what is right or wrong because we risk having our freedom become the same "freedom" they have in China.
Actually, if you have an extra computer, it can stream HDTV DVB feeds to the computer over the network, and you can watch them with VLC or mplayer, for example. Now THAT's cool!
I have a Dreambox and let's just say that it has some *ahem* special capabilities when it comes to satellite television. And of course, it runs Linux (currently an unpatched 2.6.9-rc1 ppc kernel). Good stuff.
It's DVR capabilities are also improving daily, thanks to an active CVS repository where Enigma, (which is like MythTV) is being developed by people all over the world.

i'm 16, yet i still prefer playing Doom 2 over the latest and greatest FPSs. to be honest, these newer games are too complicated and realistic and there is nothing left to your imagination.
i play Doom and Doom2 using the Doomsday engine, which adds modern graphics (inc. 3d models) and online play to the familiar old Doom games. it's said that younger kids expect so much from games these days.
i've installed SP2 RC2 on a Dell 300m, a Dell Inspiron 8000, and cheap old Dell tower and they all work. Oh, did I mention that all my computers are made by Dell? hehehehe
Anyways, i there was no difficulty installing sp2 nor were there any bad side effects. on the contrary, wireless works better due to the new wireless connection thingy. also it has a nice built-in firewall that tells you when applications try to connect to the internet and also a security center application that helps people that aren't that good with computers (i.e. my mom) keep their computer secure.
its faster and easier for me to DL a movie off of IRC than to haul my ass to the movie theatre, stand in line, and sit cramped in a shitty chair with no elbow room next to some annoying little kids. i just dl from irc, burn on a cdrw (vcd/svcd) pop it in the vcd player and watch it.
remember the psychologists that said fancy cars are a represantation of a male's penis? well, maybe this fancy spaceship is a representation of Rutan's...
it's better to have a dongle.. (of course maybe one should be included in the package)
if the IR blaster was integrated into the card, your computer would have to be in front of the other devices which means the user cannot also control them... just a thought
putting my hot laptop on top of a chocolate bar and chewing gum...
the chocolate melted and the gum stuck to it.. spent hours scraping it off... and don't ask why i did it.
people doing other stuff (i.e. homework) while watching tv appreciate the constant stream of information, commercials, shows, etc. if i had to interact with a crappy dvr interface every time i wanted to watch another episode of texas justice (lol) or some other afternoon show, i would go nuts. maybe adaptive dvr units that would download new shows on the fly based on the users habits would solve this, but thats a bit creepy...
this disgusts me. however, maybe it is good in the end. whenever a method of protection is created, smart people are compelled to break it. This brings more attention to the subject than it deserves, and in the end the person using the protection method loses. This is what we have seen in the migration of DBS satellite services to different encryptions over the last few years.
Maybe it can replace Windows' crappy Desktop.ini file, allowing for complex Desktop setups.. one use i see for it is to have links to all the icons, programs they start, etc...
i know this has been said a million times, but in my opinion, apple would make A LOT more money if they released a PC version of OSX. I would love to run it on custom hardware (i.e. Dell Inspiron 300m) instead of what Apple decides what laptops should look like. I for one would pay for a copy, especially since it would probably be cheaper than XP anyways.
i use both of these, however i chose to stay with Firebird (0.7) instead of going to Firefox, because firefox.8 had some bugs with the download manager that I didn't like.
A great plugin for Thunderbird, which allows you to use GPG to sign/encrypt your email messages. Very cool!
mod this as flamebait if you want, but do I see bias or what? What is this anti-intel bullshit!?!?! i don't understand the animosity towards intel... wtf

i find that at 128kbps mp3 i can hear artifacts, especially when using these babies

dont mean to sound paranoid, but couldnt people controlling these systems control the media? people that could censor shit even more than it is today?

note: this function actually exists in the beos kernel kit, it is defined as
