this reminds me of those personal cellphone jammers that people have been buying... surely the same technology can be applied to the frequency of these keyless entry remotes...
... but i think bush's sudden interest in space is just campaigning. if i remember right, he even CUT nasa spending at the beginning of his term. he's trying to create the image of the forward-looking, glorious-American presidential candidate. by voting for him, he is saying, you will bring the glory of conquering the space frontier to America...
you can enlarge a 35mm print into a giant poster with no noticeable problems and no pixelation. as far as i know you can;t do that with digital yet, you actually have to have that high resolution.
so, kodak is making a big mistake, because they will lose lots of customers who were using their film based products for things like posters etc..
just my two cents
Does anyone remember when Intel introduced ACPI? Only MS was ready, and Linux still doesn't have fully-working ACPI support. While ACPI is much better than APM technically speaking, all it really did was set Linux back. I suspect that while this new BIOS will be a technological improvement, it will again set Linux back. These "Wintel" pacts never really helped anyone but Microsoft...
cool... *drools* but.... uhhh... how many people have liquid nitrogen at their house, and what exactly the cost of keeping this baby going?
i dunno, i just don't see a point in having this much processing power in a home computer, and there are much better (safer, surer) ways of cooling mission-critical computers. I know that at Nasa Ames they use some type of nonconductive liquid and immerse the whole CPU in it, forgot what it was called though...
SCO vs. Novell?
Jeez, how many more companies and people are SCO trying to piss off...
I wonder wtf is driving them to cause all this trouble
Just my $.02
First they were insulting Linux and saying it has problems bigger than windows, and in the last week they seem to have shown interest in learning from windows. this is like an admission that their software is worse than linux.
just my $.02
they have been able to do this for a long time by triangulating on your location from 3 or more different cells. Every criminal knows not to leave their cell phone on exactly for this reason.
I bet they will try the customers under the DMCA, having used the cable box as a "circumvention device" against protections put up by the cable provider.
Then again, a crafty legal time might just be able to argue this case in terms of the fact that the customer was fooled by the legal disclaimer.
the thing is, you do need security, just not encryption. By setting up MAC filters in the AP, you prevent access to unauthorized clients (OK, so MAC adresses can be spoofed, at least on Prism2 cards, but how will the attacker find the list of authorized MACs in the first place?).
While MAC filtering should be done on the AP, encryption (if needed) should be done by a separate, upgradeable device, or by software. The bills really start to add up when you have to replace the whole AP+VPN+router combo when a new security protocol comes out.
It is always a good idea to keep things modular, in my experience.

This reminds me of Dish Network or DirectTV, who sell you pretty expensive equipment for literally nothing, and then tie you up to their service for a year or two. If it works for them, why shouldn't it work for AOL. Keep in mind that this deal isn't targetted towards the type of people that read Slashdot...
why go for HTML compliance when instead you can go directly for the stricter XHTML 1.0, or the crazily strict XHTML 2.0. If you go with HTML, in a year or two you'll need to switch to XHTML and it'll be a royal pain in the ass again. Why not save yourselves some work and do it now?
yes, i could've acted better. but then again, i was putting my karma on the line to share my beliefs, and you're an anonymous coward. so let's just leave it at that.

try teamspeak, it can be used instead of VoIP, and each team/crew can have their own private channel...
try it out: http://www.teamspeak.org

wow! i wonder how they'll use that old meow mix commercial...
i did read it, but i said it should be XHTML STRICT, not TRANSITIONAL
o ok cool. sorry for misinformation ;-)

oh ya btw, r u really romanian? because while it does mean "go in my dick" literally, if you knew romanian, you would now this is an idiom.
ok fine. i wont kiss ur ass. but lets end this shit, its already out of hand.
ya... if you're really romanian you'll understand this: dute in pula mea, imputitul dracului ce esti!
why do I choose it? Simple: i don't wanna buy a new miniPCI card and this is my only choice (until Intel releases a driver)
