Microsoft does not need to pay one cent to place its search engine in the lead position on its browser, which sits on the vast majority of PCs in the world
So basically he is trying to say, that Microsoft isn't investing money to develop IE7?
Well.. Church roof can fall on anybody. Thats another harsh reality.
And to make it less flaimbaitish - I myself aint got AIDS, but I have another viral disease, which is almost as uncurable as aids (Hepatitis C).
I didnt get it as part of natural selection - it was purely coincidental, and well - I didnt really deserve it, at least from atheistic point of view, heh.
However, after a while I grew to live with it, as well as I am somehow... less egocentric now, accepting thought that shit can happen to anyone, including myself, and shit always can be a lot worse too.
oh well </rant> - I really wouldnt mind cure for my disease, and I wouldnt mind if it would be used on people who "deserved" their disease - its always nice to have second chance:-)
FF doesnt render Acid2 absolutely properly. So far I think only patched Safari does.
But.. Judging by title - yes, it indeed looks fine. Just aint what it is supposed to be.
As much as folks here on/. would like to see FireFox winning over browser marketshare(including myself), in any case - it aint going to happen anytime soon.
Microsoft includes RSS support into next IE release. Which in turn means, that RSS going to be much more popular than before (admit it - even tho RSS is much more popular than few years ago, it still aint used to max potential)
Now - since RSS is going to be much more popular for granted, why would Google want to share ad profits with their competitor (Microsoft)?
Especially, since Microsoft are catching up with Adsense, Additional info on context ads by Microsoft.
Search
The upper-right corner of the IE 7 window contains a form that allows the user to launch a search. Major search engines are supported, but unfortunately, the setting isn't remembered when opening a new window.
Guess which choice is remembered? Bets this "minor " bug will not big fixed till release?
... but amazing numbers of doorways, low quality and tasteless personal pages, that owners like to spam everywhere, like there is no tomorrow.
(As a reference - doorways are pages optimized for specific keywords, solely for search engine, redirecting user to another site - thus name "doorway")
It is all fine and dandy, but... It doesnt necessarily means that free hosts are only evil. Free hosts serve also as great starting point for future webmasters.
Living in finland.. I have strange feeling, that EU funds every silly thing it cames across.
For example - EU decided that every building should be repaired in our city by some year (can't remember now)
And so buildings were repaired.. Very very fast. Quality of such repairs, are however - totally another story. Should I say - "Same shit, nicer cover"?
As about this V-Planet thingie.. Its cool. However I am somehow more fascinated at Google Maps.
While competition at SE field isn't bad thing at all, and I'd really like to see someone challenging Google... In fair manner.
However, experience tells a story about "fair" victory of IE over NS.
This whole thing reminds me of something - didn't MS want to beat Google on SE market?
I don't see any ways of how MS can directly profit from releasing better browser, but I sure can predict that search tool will be set to Search.Msn, and while it will be possible to change it to something else, those settings are going to be well well hidden.
I must confess - I am an WinXP/2000 user. My Linux experience, currently is limited to Cygwin, which is more than enough for me.
But it isn't always like that - once per year, I try to install 2-3 distro's, and watch what will come out of it.
Usually everything goes smooth, until I have to choose - KDE or Gnome. And to be honest, while KDE isn't always feel comfortable for me, its A LOT easier to understand than Gnome, especially when you switch from Win.
The only positive point about Gnome over KDE, I occassionaly have in mind, is that it ran without any problem with VMWare, while KDE needed some tweaking (Slackware it was, probably.. Not sure)
But after a while, I usually remove partition(s) with linux(and swap) altogether.. That thing, yet not for me, for various (well known) reasons.

I don't know about Gimp(shop) on Linux, but I really tried Win32 build of Gimpshop, and my personal turnoff was rather poor text management.
Nonintuitive antialiasing and lack of kerning - and it was photoshop for me again. Really sad tho - I'd prefer OS solution.

... but toasts with taste of Theo, might be rather bitter.
Even buying inkjets is more important, than loving microsoft.
is here. Sorry for double posting, enjoy.
Here we go. Might be a bit borked on quality to save bandwith, but pretty enough to get picture whats going on. Enjoy.

Hehe :-) Nice one. Couldnt even tell if its funny or insightful.
That would be their problem, not mine. I am responsible only for my own actions, not even of actions of my mother or adult(!!!) daughter.
... this is one hell of a clever move by Google.

"Most users just don't know they can set up least-privilege accounts in Windows today, and that's just a sad reality."
I wonder, if Michael Howard is aware, that most of windows software requires admin priviledge to be succesfully installed?
Is it somehow also users problem, not architecture problem?
Thats exactly, what I thought.
