He newer claimed there were not IPv6 support in the router software. What he said is that the routers don't have special hardware to do IPv6 routing thus transforming your 100000$ router into a slow mips/ppw box.
(And I would like someone who knows to comment on this, because I have newer seen any kind of list for what operations cisco supports in hardware)

application/octet-stream means that the data is just a stream of bytes, with no known special meaning. Not that it is an application.
So the default type should be application/octet-tream meaning: I don't know what this is but here you are:-}
Maybe someone should fill a bugrappert/change request to the apache group.
He is probely talking about an Amiga 500 which don't normally don't have Fastram. Even the 512K Ram expansion were not real fastram. It were called slowram and had the performence of chipram, but were not accesable for the chipset. The worst of both words)
Well, having used both gnome, kde and mozilla(Nice browser but still a bit buggy) all I can say is no. Both gnome and kde are far more buggy when any interface microsoft have ever put on windows, and mozilla does crash more then explorer 6.
Besides for most applications, the bugs are found by the users who then fill out a bug-rapport. Whatever the product is opensource or not, does not effect the abilities of people to find bug.
And yes there exists opensource products with almost no bugs, and really high qualiy software(Apache, gcc and so on).
And I still use mozilla as a browser even in windows. Not because it is less buggy, but because it got some really nice features.
PowerPC is a better instructionset then the ugly x86 hack, BUT the celeron in question is much faster then the G4. And x86 is only a problem for compilers and the few people who really like to write asm.
A webserver as in something that serve static content is almost newer cpu-bound, BUT most webserves run some kind of script language, such as php/per/java and then it can become cpubound. A 2Ghz pentium IV with a BIG pipe don't have a problem handling the slashdot effect if it only serve static pages. What often crash the servers with a slashdotting are some fancy php driven menusystem/usertracking system, or more often just bad configuration. (Unable to connect to mysql server) which just go to prove that no amount of fast hardware can make it up for bad software design.
But don't subversion use the same commands as cvs? I have not tested it, but there might be a change that the cvs plugin would work with subversion. I will wait until Subversion V1. I don't like the idear that my sourse is stored by software still not in beta.
Are you sure about that? Console games which are diffucult to copy have always been more expensive then normal pc games. It's been that way as far as I can remember and the only explanation I have found is that they lower prices to combat piracy. And based on the games I have bought it might even work.
The source of the confusion is that at a time microsoft called all their new product.net. Even if they had nothing to do with the.net platform(That is: The runtime enviroment and services). Microsoft server 2003 were at one time called the.Net server, and the next version of MS SQL server were called the SQL.net server. After using a loft of monny on markething, Microsoft found out that calling a lot of things.net even if they had nothing to do with the.net platform were a problem, so they changed their campain. When they talk about.net they talk about the.net VM and services. But that was not the way it originally were planned.
Sun is doing the same thing with java. Just think about javascript(Not a Sun product, but Sun did accept the use of the name javascript) and the java desktop which is just a renamed and rebranded Gnome. Nothing to do with the java language/VM.

That tomcat is SLOW serving static context. And maybe they were plannig to use other apache_modules such as php or mod_rewrite later.
Unified drivers don't mean unified hardware. It might just as well mean a lot of if's.
Remember, there are other systems then windows and linux which might have problems with this.
One obvious problem might be drivers for non-windows systems.
A shame that no of the rootkits actuelly check the server responce. They just send a mallformed packet, and test what happends.
Acording to Motorola, the 1Ghz G4 require 10 Watts. The faster ones require a bit more.

Atleast that is the way in denmark, and I don't think sweden is that different.

Anyone who don't want to use a cvs system, which is not even in beta yet.
But I am waiting for subversion to finish their version 1, so I can kill -9 cvs forever
It is a problem however that you are not allowed to distribute java widtout including your own software written in java.
OK, I am curious. What kind of applications does require THAT MUCH cpu power?
And standart sql databases don't count, because you don't deploy them on your highend application server.

A shame the original authors of Blender made their 4. point "Out of cash" insted of profit!
No amount of hardware can make it up for lousy software. But they still keep trying.

But does Sun have any plans for making a desktop in java?
Or is the similarity just that both products are named after VM's?

Yes, but unless Sony take a big cut from each software sale that does not matter. Does anyone know how much Sony take for each sold copy?
To be cower the price difference sony should take > 10$ But I really don't think they take tha much.

Why would anyone want that??

Have you ever seen the "html" that word create? It is so ugly, and non-standart that even internet-explore 5.5 got problems showing some of it.
