Does the military still have the program where at conviction a perosn can instead decide to serve in the military instead of in a prison?
I know they had it in the Vietnam era, one of my teachers fixed his life around by joining the military.
I think this program shoudl be reinstituted. The grand majority of people who come out of the military say it was a good experience for them and for many of them it turned their lives around.
I'm not saying to use the military as an inmate daycare program. But for those who would rather receive training and help protect the country, I think we should let them do that instead of rot in jail. Now obviously you would have certain convictions where this wouldnt be allowed, such as murder and other violent crimes, but anyone else should be allowed an encouraged to serve their time in the military instead, where they can earn money and come out a better person.
I'm not sure if it is illegal to kill yourself, seems kind of a moot point but it might be based on the idea that if you tried to kill yourself with a gun in a public place you could put others in danger.
While I agree it would be a good thing to have a unified language, I don't see it happening to the fullest extent. This is because of the different alphabets used in some languages. I can easily see the European languages merging (German and Latin based), possibly including the Slavic ones but perhaps they would form another set. And there might be some Middle Eastern languages that remerge. And the Asian languages of China, Japan, Korea, Viet. etc..
But I can't imagine those super groups ever merging
Of course at that point we could just teach kids "The 5 languages of Earth" and either that will be fine, or given enough generations with everyone knowing how to speak all the languages semi-fluently they might start to merge these languages too.
Still like you said this process would occur over thousands of years.
Being a language story, I decided to actually run my post through a spell/grammar check.:-)
I have found that leaving the normal font smoothing in XP is better than turning on clear type with a CRT. I just convinced my room mate of this today. Comic sans is a good font to test with and zoom in on.
Falling, but still more valueable than the canadian dollar. Its falling mostly against the euro. it has consistently been above the CAD and that snap shot would have been correct the past 10 years any day and time of the year.

I dont see the troll aspect here, isn't this technically one of the possibilities of how the first human got infected. You always here about example involving peaople being exposed to monkey feces and urine as the first infections, but its just as likly that is was some one have some type of sexual contact with a monkey.

I'm all for nuclear, wind, solar, power etc... as well. But its a problem that needs a multipronged attack until we are sure which one is the best economically and ecologically.
Well if you can get a morgage (sp?) that brings the monthly cost of that house close to the cost of your apartment then its worth it to buy the house because you are using your money to gain property, you might think of it as storing wealth in the house/land. And normally you will make a profit when you sell it or you will pass it on to your kids for free and that gives them a big advantage in life.
Well the idea is to get the average usage of fossil fuels down so they can be used in places where other fuels cant be (jet fuel) and to buy more time to fix our energy problems.
heh, I suspect you dont have much clout with the policy guys at time warner.
Technically would the intra network idea be possible and essentially free to the company?
Interesting that you mention games because the San Antonio(Im from there, now in Austin at UT) RR team actually runs a few game servers inside the network. Which makes for really good ping times, but still High bandwidth between my neighbors would be awsome.
What is the max bandwidth for a cable system? I've heard people saying that the docsys standard allows up to 10 mbps.
if anything New Yorkers voting for Kerry should have made you think they were right since they were the ones who actually delt with terrorism directly, they were best fit to make the decision on who would be better at protecting the country.

American is the accepted term internationally.
And I have never heard some one from another Continental American country call themselves an American.

well we could put in an oil tax, but that would hurt the economy alot.
However you could justify it by putting the money into alternative fuel research. Doubt it will ever happen though.
