    My movies off of Usenet. I have SuperNews Account and get all the alt.binaries subcategory.

    I've routinely seen 5 gig packages of mp3's and flacs floating around ;-) And I've mirored them on my hd for (cough) safekeping.

    Can you really say that Mal-Wart is THAT worse than MS?

    Both have really big share in the US.
    Both move in to the area and gobble up all "generic" stores.
    Only speciality stores can survive until the Big ones move in to that sector.
    Mal-Wart is actually cheap. MS software is crappy and isnt cheap.

    If you want stable, albeit old, use the TESTED GOOD Debian Stable packages. They're old as the hills, and little problems to boot. They just work.

    If tyou want something current, but more buggy (desktop or somesuch) go with source-compile like FreeBSD or Gentoo Linux. Looking at a Fedora system where things are kept current AND in working order (unlike unstable in Debian) would be a good idea too, but you risk going in Lib.hell

    It may be "illegal" but it isnt sure wrong to me.

    I copty at least 5 cd's per week for my mp3 server. I aquire them legitly, and return them in a timely fashion. I use that thing called a Library.

    I'm waiting for the creation of mini-holes at the new Large Hadron Super Collider over in Europe around 2006-7. If that type of energy could be harnessed, who needs "Mr. Fusion", gasoline, H2, or any other energy substance? Just take unbiodegradible trash and run a city on 1 ton of it.

    -- As a note, one gram of pure U235, if converted to pure energy (100% efficency, e=MCC) would power New York city for 1 day. A black hole with top spin is theorised that you could extract 45% of it's mass as inertial energy. 1 ton of crap means you have 900 Lbs of "energy". ;-) (and a 1100 lbs heavier black hole)

    Past that, if he was a fraud... he was a damned clever one at that.

    They may be profit-greedy, but they're not stupid.

    If they charged by a "month", I'd wager that they would not count it if you signed up even 1 day after Month X, Day 1. If you do that, you risk pissing most of your gamers off.

    Yep, and my dual DSL box has 3 wired (1 being 10/100 ISA) and 2 wireless (802.11b - prism2) nodes. It's a lowly dual 350MHz p2 box with .5 gig ram ;-)

    Cost = 25$ Why? Cost 25$ for the ISA=>Cardbus adapter from someone who wanted to sell it.

    Even the case was a "throwaway" from the local college. I had a junky PSU. Used a future domain scsi card to put a scsi scanner and a 9Gig drive on it too. Got a dvd drive free from an upgrade-repair job.

    I'm just thinking how MS could prevent those fines in the future. Seems in europe, if you have the face of no monopoly, you dont get fined. Having a cd like that, they could scrape in what profit there is and get out of that fine stuff.
