Well, it's either sex or violence. Both is "preferred" by game manufacturers.
Look at unreal tournament. The blood is just soo fakey looking, but they still add it. Turn on moregore mutator, and it just becomes comical.
And you have to have the "sexual" element. Usually game manufacturers aim for "Jerry Springer Sexual" type. Instead they could aim for a elegant sexual appeal
Still, sex or violence does NOT make a game. The game MUST be fun, then add eye-candy. The guy in charge of many nintendo projects has the right idea.
And as a last statement: I place a 10 karma point bet that within 2 months, this BeachBimbo game will have a nude code found. Then sales will spike yet again.
How innovative. The guy's using sex appeal to lure in gamers. And, of course, the game stinks.
Why do I say it stinks: Whats better? 1: Playing a game by yourself watching animated chicks play Semi-XXX volleyball or 2: Actually play along with REAL chicks and try keep one
Anyways, it's summer. If you're playing games that simulate a summer game, you're really a loser.
Yeah, this is a troll. Just as much as the game BMX-XXX was too. Think about it.
>>>If course, since I just ragged on the HOLY REDHAT, I'm probably going to be on the receiving end of a massive moderation smackdown. oh well.
I wouldnt come to that conclusion. If anybody has ever installed RedHat's new'ish version and then NMAP'ed it, you'll find some interesting things started.
I always find: Telnet, Finger, Chargen, Mail, and other services started on DEFAULT install.
If anything, I think we learned from Windows that default daemons/services automatically started at install/startup is a BAD idea. Systems like Windows, BSD, and Linux for servers should be set for the most secure (eg: no servers) settings.
In that case, Windows AND RedHat both fall in the same category.
With the statuette, you may for the making of the statuette. With games, you pay for the DATA. The disc/cart is just a way to transport the data.
And if we're paying for that 1 copy of the data, we should be able to, for a fair price, send the remains of the broken media and get a new disc/cart.
Since MANY game manufacturers do not allow that, we're forced to use "semi-legal" means where you cannot tell if it's backup or copyright violation. And now add in zone-based game plays where a Japanaes game wont work in the use (GameCube exempt as a switch inside which does this). You need a modchip to play a LEGIT game.
And with the statue, it prevents making them in mass quantities. If you were to use pictures from artist XYZ, you can use them for private displays. But you had better not sell them publically without written consent. And would you want to make a cast of that statuette, and prepare it, and make it? Dont think so. It's a wee bit easier copying data, which is the issue. Not some ditzy statuette statement.
>>>>>Not going to happen. Why would it? The people who sell you the means for backup (or illegal copying, whatever) are doing it for profit, just like the original video game publishers.
Exactly. And if they're knocked out of that business of selling mod-circuits by those companies, I'd release all my information about the firmware code and PCB's. You dont think that would give Sony, MS, and Nintendo a collective heart attack? It's not profit, it's called REVENGE.
>>>>There's no philanthropic motive behind Lik-Sang. They're just trying to make a buck, too, and aren't going to sell themselves out to "make a statement." You may want the same end result, but don't assume it's for the same reason.
I know what they do. They sell the equipment for backup and copyright violation. And if "They" sue to stop you and they succeed, I'd release all my info about them. After all, if Lik-Sang cant make money from mods, nobody should.
Sort of like Salting the earth knowing you'll lose it anyways.
That's the BEST way to find bugs. Simply promise the world that it's HACK PROOF. When there's some published loophole, they fix it. Then comes round 2 of "This versions' HACK PROOF".
How else do you encourage hackers to take their skills on something normal debuggers wont find? You make it a challensge and openly state it's the best secure.
Illegal and 'need a copy' are 2 different things. A cart can be pretty sturdy, but what happens when your most favorite GB game gets rolled over by a 5 legged rolly chair?? You just cant send the game back to nintendo with a small fee, get a new game which you owned.
The same problem exists with CD's. Does Nintendo provide a backup service where you send in scratched/broken minis and get a new one? NOPE. They tell you buy another full license at 40-60$.
Backups are part of our copyright, and any format which they actively attempt to protect , should NOT BE GRANTED A COPYRIGHT.
Actually, I believe its the other way around. The lawyers here in the US are supposed to uphold the law, not the defendant's guilt or innocence. An ideal defense attourney could care less if the defendant commited the crime, they are defending the law and the defendants rites and the rites of citizens as a whole. The guilt or innocence is especially irrelevant to the judge and jury. The judge is supposed to be impartial throughout the trial while upholding the law, and the jury is told to not make a decision until all evidence has been presented.
WRONG. If I am pressed charges, I hire a lawyer who can get me free (of jail or money). I dont hire them to "Defend the Law" or some such tripe. Just as I'm trying to get free, the prosecution/Sueer (?) is doing just the opposite. They want to win, and could care less about Due process, excepting to do all they can to get 'me'.
What happens in court is you have 2 cough"Scientists" beliving in 2 opposing viewpoints where they're trying to convince Laymen to 'vote for them'. And you have to decide as a group what the 'correct' answer is.
And yes, I go to court once a month as a member of the audience to see "due process" in action. Remember, we have the right of public due process.

>>Great.. so which option in the .config do I enable?
All of them. And turn on Oompha-matic CPU eater.
So, that's what it is....
K5 was straight forward about FP and SP placement.
Oh well. But thanks for the tip.
Scissors, NO. Fiber-seeking Backhoe, yes.
This story's been on the FP (front page) for at least an hour, and nobody cares. Perhaps Quake is mostly dead???
>>>Oh, also: slower. Than. Ass. I've got a top-of-the-line dual-proc G4, and this program sucks donkey balls.
That's because you have the _SHITTY_ dual only G4. Every slashdotter should know that you NEED A G5 NOW.
(heavy sarcasm for those who are just plain stoopid)
...Pony show means?
It reffers to a few 'bands' of women and their 'managers' going around to hick towns and having the women screw and be screwed by dogs and ponies.
And of course, they took in a bit of money doing so. My pops remembers when 1 such group hit a place in Indiana.
>>>I just picked up a Pioneer A06 and it's pretty damn sexy,
Does it do a striptease when its done burning?
I can get a DVD-RW at staples for 100$. Just doesnt do +RW.
Cmon. It was a joke. A JOKE.
Would a picture of Goatse on the back of the shirt be in (ahem) bad taste (ahem)?
I dunno, but 666 666 meets slashdot's morals.
(boooo) Cheap shot. I know.
>>>Bragging rights at LUGs, CompSci Labs, Cubicle Farms, and Tech Tradeshows around the world.
Does that mean you'll also hire a personal bodyguard for the mockery and continual muggings?
If so, IM IN!!(snortchuckle)

Is the console 'backup' makers open chip firmware and tracings so that anybody can make those devices.
Lets see how Console makers like them apples.
