In the Netherlands, many members of parliament have already stated that downloading is not prohibited, only uploading. How you can download without someone uploading is a bit of an issue though. It is the same policy with drugs though: you are free to buy or possess but are strictly prohibited to sell. If a cop catches you with small quantities of some really illegal dope he may be obliged to return it to you if you haven't committed a crime.
Add to that the fact that Britney Spears can recieve up to $0,50 per backup DVD that I make of my own written software, and the monkey circus is complete in Europia.
Pirating a movie is a pain in the ass right now. You get a low-quality DVD rip that doesn't easily play on your TV
*cough* 'I have a certain friend' who downloads at least 40-50 full quality DVD's a month from anonymous releases... guess you just don't know where to look
Actually, the rolex emails fooled my spam filters too. I though I had something misconfigured on my mail server but now, thanks to Slashdot, I can rest assured there's some evil scheme behind it.
Oh, I feel so much safer now that that evil pirate's pumpin' iron in St Quentin... next lock away those illegal copiers that I always see standing around the xerox machine.. they should be in jail as well, those darn copyright violators..
the world would be much better if *all* police would focus on copyright violations.. go big corporations and corrupt senators!!
Both platforms are pretty similar, but with Java you get (better, complete) portability.
in my experience.NET is way more portable than java..... I can compile a dll on my windows b0x and run it straight on my openBSD b0x, my iPaq or even a cellphone. try that with java and the 'java enabled' machines which actually run a crippled vm.
And ofcourse I like the delegates and pointers that.NET has provided!
and water will heat the coffee to 145 degrees and keep it warm for the next 30 minutes
wow, thats pretty hot.. or are you still using fahrenheits?

Yeah riiiiight have you ever seriously looked at the spec of these 'java chips'? They are not as advanced as Sun may have you believe..
* No floating point 16-bit int instead of 32 bits.
* All types (byte, short, char, int and boolean) use 2 bytes, though byte and short arrays use 1 byte per element.
* Only one-dimensional arrays (can use the index to simulate a 2-D array.)
* Single byte ASCII strings instead of two byte Unicode
* Only a single thread available, though a timer allows for scheduling of multiple tasks. (Plus the VP objects run independently)
* No interfaces, though sub-classing of an abstract base class is allowed.
* A subset of the core libraries is available. (Remember also that all linked classes must be downloaded with the program and fit into the 32kb of memory.)
* No garbage collection. All objects created will last for the duration of the program.
Compare that to this.NET chip....
* 384K of SRAM, single cycle access
* 27 MHz ARM7TDMI
* FBGA chip form
* ~450,000 instructions per second
* 4MB non volatile flash
* 1.8-volt core, 3.3-volt I/O
* 32768 Hz real-time clock
* 32-pin pinout, including 24 GPIO ports multiplexed with other functions (8 VTU ports, dual serial ports, SPI, and USB port)
* SPI and I2C interfaces
and its multithreaded, too

The guy was talking about the *literal* meaning, not the historical meaning. As far as I know the word 'Duitsch' meant 'German' since at least the 17th or 187th century. The analogy word for Dutch would be 'Neederlandsch'. In the 1950's the word was upgraded to 'Duits' to reflect popular spelling changes. If the word really was 'Diets' the song would have included that.. 'ben ik van Dietschen bloed' As far as I know the 'Duitsch' refers to the Orange Dynasty, in its long form 'Oranje-Nassau', which is German as well.
HL2: Interactive adventure movie Doom 3: Interactive horror movie
Graphics score equal, though both in different aspects. DOom 3 has better interiors, HL2 has better outside levels and AI. Both have good storytelling and you can walk only one way, The downside on HL2 is that it is a more restricting on a lot of things. This makes the game feel less 'real' and more like a movie.
Buwaahahaha, you crazy americans get what you vote for:D:D I can only laugh at all the restrictions you put on yourself:D:D:D

Just don't let your exclusive mindset make it impossible for others to share their work for free.. that is called fundamentalism. Your way or the highway. If you're so focused on making money, you should take an 80-hours job instead of hoping to make a song or painting that will support all your habits for a lifetime. That is just ridiculous.

Well, the thing is, what if the US senate passes a law that would incriminate 51% of the population? Since they are then convicts (in a perfect police state, which is what is being built) they cannot vote to overturn that law!
by the way.. since the US has the largest population of inmates and convicts in the world both by number and by percentage, it shows that a large part of the population does not agree with governemnt policies (eg drugs). Yes, you dó live in a police state. No, once you find out, there's nothing you can do about it......
Excuse me, why should a new zealand citizen abide to US law especially if he's never been there? I am dutch and can smoke whatever I want. Does this mean the subpoena's will start showing up at my doorstep?
Is this a new form of colonialism? Do we all 6.3 billion have to abide to the law of a mere 300 million?

ben ik van Duitschen bloed", literally "am I of Dutch blood",
you mean, "am I of *German* blood"
You are making a classic error here.
"%35 of all traffic is Bittorrent"
versus
"Networks are usually "congested" at 60%."
But your error is this: how much percent of the available capacity does 100% internet traffic account for? Your calculation isn't quite valid..
Or, how to detect it? That would be cool :D
