  1. Re:Fully Informed Jury Association on Jury Acquits Citizens of Illegally Filming Police · · Score: -1, Flamebait

Jury nullification would never happen in modern America. Americans are for the most part a bunch of docile sheep. Never would you get any random 12 Americans to agree in principle to jury nullification. Good luck finding 12 random Americans who even know what this is. A Not Guilty verdict, sure, but never will all 12 jurors acknowledge "nullifying" the law.

Nice job paying a collections bill that you didn't even owe. Your credit got destroyed, you gave the company exactly what they wanted, and after that was over I bet they sent you yet another bill. If they haven't yet, they will now that they know you're an easy mark.

The proper way to deal with pirates is to kill them on the spot. No other method works. Jurisdictional issues are a nightmare, so criminal trial is out of the question. No need for needless brutality by sending home their body parts or anything like that; just shoot them and feed them to the sharks. If there are any legal inquiries after the fact, just remember they fired first and the victim ship was doing what was necessary to save the lives of the crew. Nobody needs to hear any differently.

The same reason they haven't stopped extra fees for bag checking and all the other bullshit: they don't care if people like flying or not. They just cut capacity to the point that their planes are always full from the number of people who will fly no matter what. The worst thing the U.S. ever did for air travel was bail out airlines that should have gone bust long ago. We would have much better air service now if the dinosaur companies had been allowed to die.

Illinois actually banned this. Smoking is not permitted in any "structure" whatsoever. The only purpose I can assume is to punish smokers by making sure they smoke in the rain/snow/sleet.

As an aside, all of these anti-smoking laws that suddenly popped up all around the world in most cases have nothing to do with the will of the people. Anti-tobacco groups, secretly funded by Big Pharma, put heavy lobbying pressure (and bribes) on legislators all over the world. For your health, of course. Coincidentally, smoking cessation products are VERY profitable for pharmaceutical companies.
