Do you really belive that?? most states are shutting down the scale houses that inspect semi trucks in order to use the man power on drug task forces that make better headlines and profits now. The local governments are just playing catchup to the state governments.
I bailed to truck driving - always an office with a view, no (l)users calling the que. and VERY LITTLE management interaction (hard to do from 500 miles or more)
the Navy has proven that nuclear energy works much better in a renewable / conservation standing than any fossil fuel based system can (look at all the ships they use, most are nuclear fueled)
They use highly flammable metals to do this so we will have another round of explosive cars out on the highways, and being metals they will require some thought into the use of water to put the flames out at accidents. Would be great once the bugs and dangers are worked out.
Having worked for the TSA and the army for some time, the only way for safe air travel is you show up at the airport and just like a prison you strip and leave everything behind for a jump suit. Only the jump suit and your body goes on the plane (no phones, paper, whatever! and body screened for hidden items) a second plane flies the luggage and you belongings to the destination. Humans are safe and only belongings can get blown up. (only threat left is the burrito you had for lunch)
The article also talks about a bug zapper version that uses the power to light UV lights to attract more bugs... so when the robots wanna take over instead of UV in will be porn to "kill all humans"
I think Linux (i use Ubuntu for family members) can really take off if it got it's act together better on support. My mother left the Linux heard to return to Vista over a printer driver issue (no one had a driver for an HP printer) my aunt is in pits over things not "making since" in the names used for programs. If developers got more towards the plug and play and legacy drivers MS would start having a sever financial crisis for now it's no worries because we can't get the 50 and up crowd to join us in Linux in the web and email area.
yes, i was combat lifesaver and the test is a short quick of the real school.. the real school was 3 days and a little deeper into the open wound treatment.
well i entered in panama was denied, same with Kosovo, Nicaragua, Desert Storm, enduring freedom, Haiti, Grenada, Sinai, other small cold war squishes and Korea. (and yes Korea is still legally a war zone...a ceasefire has been in place sense 1950).
I have played AA for 6 years it's a great game, on the flip side I served as Infantry for 12 years. The AA game simulates the battle side of the army but nothing about the other phases (book training, guard duty, and cleaning the base) AA tends to glorify the battle side. I entered in 1989 and served till 2001 (medical discharge) I volunteer to go anywhere I could, but was never deployed outside the US. while the war training was fun it wasn't a common ordeal during my service time. on a final note http://www.pvtmurphy.com/Prints/Any%20Luck.htm
well I tech support my mother, 2 brothers, their wives, and kids... Ubuntu has been the saving grace for me from stopping the spy ware and viruses the kids kept getting (*several from 4 to 8 on neopets and 4 teens on my space) to running my mother's email with out a hiccup. I have 8 machines, 3 windows xp, 1 vista, and the other 4 Ubuntu and as soon as i can learn how to get the C&C generals to run on Nix I'll drop another 2 windows boxes over to the nix world. By having all the family on the one distro I can do tech support and correct any problems fast thru out the family.
Imagestream has been doing this for ~8 years now... course they provide support and all the hardware but this is doable. After all a DS3 Imagestream Rebel is only a P3 Intel and 256mb upgrade. Still it is another step in proof that cisco is not the networking god PHB's think.
to build on the power issue... there was a guy in the 80's that had big wild parties up in the sears tower. He had all kinds of different colored florecant lights in the room but no power hooked up to them. After my 3rd party I final asked how they worked with out wires, he said stay after the party and he'd show me. Well after everyone left he handed me a ladder and said I would help clean, I pulled the first light tube down from the clips and it was still lit in my hands, turns out the WLS tower was up on top of the roof and the radio waves had enuff power to light the tubes without any thing else done to them (he stored the lights in a closet when not partying).
I had a discussion long ago with a person that had a great idea. If you was going to fly, ALL lugage was shipped by truck a few days in advance. When you arrived to get on the plane, you are lead to a room, stripped of all clothes ran thru a "decontamination room" and given a disposable jump suit. Everyone flew in these jumpsuits with no other items allowed on the plane. (I think flying naked may be even more secure but the view would be SCARY!!) but with all lugage shoes and clothes shipped on ground based trucks and every passanger flying without even their own clothes, there would be safty in the air. Course I would prefeer even fewer planes in the sky (I like to watch the stars, not planes at night.)
no they can be used just to walk in the dark. I have done 12 mile night marches in Night vision goggles, we had to be quit but still march. Most good infantry units do not walk down the middle of a road... you get hit with artillery or landmines doing that.
As a former infantry man, I carried 35 lbs of; water (common load in the US is 1/2 gallon, in Iraq they carry 2 gallons), ammo(230 rounds 5.56 for M-16/ 600-1000 rounds for machineguns), compass, clothing (12 lbs), knives (bayonet pocket and leatherman) and other gear (the M-16 is 12.5 lbs) my combat stripped ruck (wet weather gear, cold weather gear, 3 days food / 1 change clothes and 3 pairs socks & underware) is 35 lbs, many troops are carring even higher weights (the radio operator carries a 35lb radio in his ruck the machine gunners carry extra ammo...)
The weight the troops carrry is already very high and once bullets start fling the first thing dropped is the backpack.
gee if the mayor would have used the city school buses they may have saved all those people, intsead they ruined a few hundred busses that they now expect the US taxpayer to replace. I'm sorry but they had 3 days notice it was coming and more than enuff resouces to EVACUATE like they had been told to do. Too many people belived it was someone elses job save everyone's lives. Than when they realized they had to do for themsleves they went overboard.

I think the are talking breeder reators (they refine the next fuel rods from their own waste making them a renewable/ low waste system)

actually once you request your own file they will start an investigation into you to see why you think you should have a file...

Ummm.. the original coke a cola recipe had cocaine in it before the drug was relegated.

Look to the monks of the scary devil monastery and unix. That young children was the true beginning to the path of enlightenment.

.. maybe you need to wake up and read the classifieds or even monster adds. The PHB think any high schooler is tech savy and will do it for min wage.

Sentient computer network .. these are bluetoothed so the first idiot that loads a linux OS will begin the skynet revolution.
