The user still is in control of what can be displayed or not I don't see a problem.
And it makes sense to cut the throat of every ad that is animated, noisy or epileptic since they are the real reason for AdBlock Plus to appear from the beginning.
I think it would be hard to find another identical Earth with a Moon of the same size as ours, but on the other hand - life can appear under for us strange circumstances. Just look at the fumaroles in the oceans - they have a life that's different from what we really recognize usually.
However even if many planets out there are either like Venus (hot and dense atmosphere) or Mars (thin dry atmosphere) you may be able to see planets that are similar to earth from many aspects, even if they may have a more intense gravity or other differences. But they can probably sustain life. The point with Earth is that some of the characteristics that do allow support for life today is created by life itself - like free oxygen. And looking back through geological history one can see that Earth has had great variations in temperature and oxygen content.
As for how it is on other planets - they may have life, but it may not be life as we recognize it here - it can be all the way from mostly silicon based algae to advanced life that can be compared to humans but with a completely different cultural aspect that considers us humans as inferior or more like ants - a great object of study but nothing worth talking to.
Tieto did have some trouble here in Sweden recently where they lost data and the backups weren't up to date.
The cause was some problems with the SAN where both master and mirror data crashed. Many companies did suffer - all the way from restaurants to loan businesses.
A situation like that requires more than one person, but you can't hire a person to get the job done and just sit back - you need a co-worker with experience where you both can go at the problems and jointly analyze and discuss pros and cons of how to resolve potential bombs in the solution.
Going at a problem alone may sometimes be as dangerous or more dangerous than leaving the problem alone.
And if you are two at a job you have at least some backup if you get sick or have an accident.
What's interesting is that real life models sometimes still yields a better result than the computer simulated, but both have advantages and disadvantages.
Especially streaming water is a tricky thing to model entirely right and you can get surprises when you have a complex situation and try it in a physical model compared to a computer simulation.
The problem with outsourcing development to a country like India is that you have to specify your a$$ off to get what you want. This because stuff that's obvious to us is something that they aren't familiar with. Simple things like "why do I need anti-freeze in the car"... Or the understanding of the tax system (that varies a lot between countries).
This is one reason for me to not trust security solutions using mobile phones.
And if the target has a smartphone it's theoretically possible to intercept text messages and forward them to the perpetrator keeping the victim completely unaware of the attack.
One thing that perpetrators also can use is Over-the-air programming to reconfigure the phone, and as an end user you can't tell if it is your legitimate operator that wants to reconfigure your phone or someone else.
It makes sense to avoid having people educate themselves into something that won't get them employed.
The government shall primarily look after what educations that are needed, not what educations that people want. Learning useless stuff still makes you useless on the job market.
But you can of course still take side courses in what interests you - like painting even though you read an engineering major.
Piracy is fed by more than one factor. Region restriction is one, pricing (the price is beyond what's acceptable to pay), complicated copy protection, insulting the customer and of course just the general belief that "I don't want to pay". The last alternative is hard to do much about, but they are in general a fringe group. And we actually need that kind of people since they are sometimes the leading edge of society that breaks new ground.
And don't ever mix up the software pirates that are around with the terrorists and real pirates that you can find in Somalia and other parts of the world that are really troubling life for people.
And region restriction on games isn't unique - it started already with DVD players, and the sole purpose of it is to keep up the prices with little benefit for the customers. I as a customer would like to see a movie using the original speech and sound of the actors, not some kind of voiceover. But on the other hand it's good to have subtitles in my native language too, that way I'm able to catch some things that goes missing otherwise. So if I want the subtitles I may select the version that's for my region anyway regardless of any hard restrictions on the item.
But for any content producer there should be one foremost item - don't insult your customers. And you do insult them if you make things too complicated and force them to watch five minutes of copyright warnings when they have purchased the legitimate copy of your product. The pirated copies has often stripped away such junk with no remorse. Imagine what the outrage would be when you purchase a new car and is forced to watch the EULA for a minute every time before you are able to drive the car. Or an EULA for a screwdriver? "You may only use this screwdriver for phillips screws, using it for any other purpose will void this EULA and you are no longer permitted to use this screwdriver and have to return it to us."
Sometimes a person who's a troll to some is a hero to others.
But the copyright business has been abused so much that it has to be completely rewritten and redone so that the original authors and actors are the ones that really gets paid. Today way too much money is pocketed by people in between.
What you do is to give people a lot of freedom somewhere while you take it away in other places.
And when people aren't good behaving citizens then you pepper spray them.
Freedom is what you think you have, reality is that you may be free to express what you think in the western world but as soon as you act upon your opinions to get others to listen then you are a danger to the order.

And the only winners are the lawyers.
Maybe this will spell the end of the patent laws as we see them today. At least we can hope that they flush stupidities down the drain.
At least - if they make a mistake and I see something odd in my back yard I know why.

And when we have a Judge to decide who is a journalist or not - who is to decide if the judge is valid or not?
For Verisign to get hacked.

Not necessarily - the business model may be good but the technical solution can still be running on duct tape and Vodka.

Report it to CERT. (Or other corresponding security organization if you are outside the US.)
The result is that you will get a crapload of work delayed to infinity, but that's the usual government status.
And please figure out a way to take care of ticks too.
Free Lunch - just bring a net to collect them and a blender to chop them up with. Protein drink!
I agree - and what they can do is to cover it with some additional material to make sure that it doesn't get far when it starts to leak.
In the hands of some Mormons then...

And also - what kind of anti-virus will be first on the list of the malware producers to circumvent?
Today there are many different AV solutions and it's almost impossible to evade them all, but now there will be one main target.
