No, Sober is pro Nazi virus. Jan 05 is "1919 - Free Committee for a German Workers' Peace founded." Check virus descriptions on any antivirus vendor site.
If you think, that is about free software, then you haven't got bunch of text emails about dresden bombings and other propaganda.
I know that I periodically have to close all of my firefox windows and start fresh -- after a day or two they start consuming way more resources than they should be. Once in a while, on a website with a flash banner ad, I'll firefox taking up 35% of my cpu.
Yep, it has them now. But Slackware did not have swaret, slapt-get or SlackUpdate several years ago and people switched to other distro. I think most of them switched to Debian and packaging utilities were main reason of switch.
This means that if the GPL review board goes insane and the GPL v3.0 does away with the "must provide source code" clauses,...
You still own the code. If you don't like it, remove "or later" from next release of your software. If somebody follows 'or later' clause, they can do it only with old version of your software. Yes, they can fork your code. No, they can't use modifications from GPL v2 only licensed new software.
If so, why not just go for a BSD licence?
Because BSD licence allows commercial abuse of your work here and now. Insane GPL review board is not active today.
Microsoft bundles some program (let's say web browser) with their OS. If other program is better, people will use it.
Hah. Tell that to Netscape, Opera, Mozilla.
People won't use other program, because they already have program, that satisfies most of their needs. You can have superior product, but you will have problems entering the market, because other product is included in every package. Microsoft can have broken, inferior product and still dominates the market due to bundling.
Linux distributions don't dominate the market and their bundles are not enforced. Programs are not included by default in every Linux OS. You are free to use Mplayer, Noatun, Totem, Kaffeine, Xine to play your video files. You can use XMMS, Rhythmbox, Amarok, mpg321, cplay to play your audio files.
On others, I'd just be using a some version webmail client.
Webmail clients usually don't provide "compose email in selected charset" option. It might be hard to implement such option in pure html and small requirements on webserver.
If columba can be locked to one account, it would provide email client that is not locked on one client machine and gives more interface options than regular webmail interface.
- AMD64 box with gobs of mem and lotsa Ghz, dual core, more cpu's is better
Or two simple 64bit machines for same price. One stable machine for developing. Second one for debugging and breaking stuff. You might even get one more 32bit machine for Win32 testing.
If you have only one machine, you might have problem when your experiments break it.
Whenever any civilization completes the Manhatten project, the game pretty much sucks. Everyone wants to nuke everyone else.
Not an issue in FreeCiv. Nukes are expensive to build, they can be used only once and nuclear fallout has to be cleaned later. It is easier to raid main land with howitzers and mechs.
Only immature or desperate players build bombs and nuke opponents.
What's even harder to explain is how 1 person from 1 keyboard has the power to kill a company. Do they have to seize the moment that desperately that even a simple check cannot be done?
You know, it really bothers me that you have a kitchen and don't bother to cook up gourmet 5 star meals.
It is not about not using kitchen to cook meals. It is about using rocket engine instead of barbeque. You can toast your hamburger n times faster and "i've just used ICBM engine to cook this meal" makes you a geek.
Adobe Photoshop CS2 will be available for an estimated street price of US$599 and licensed users of any previous version of Photoshop can upgrade for US$149.
Have you read OpenOffice 1.x or older StarOffice install documentation? There are multiuser install options. setup.exe has -net option.

Step 3. Customers don't want to see your virus scanning utility messing with their files and go to other bank. No profit for you.

Same way you trust Windows.
You need compatibility with mainstream product in order to enter the market.
Is it Firefox or Macromedia Flash plugin?

"page with instructions on disabling the autorunning protection"
It looks like, protection is based on software that is started when cd is inserted. Just press shift key when you insert cd or get Mac Mini.

- Vista EU Edition: Starter or Home Basic without Media Player.
- Vista Monopoly Edition: clippy destroys any software that does not belong to Microsoft.

number of slashdot users vs number of infected machines. Guess which number is bigger.
