I'm 31, and based in Melbourne, originally from Adelaide YMMV. I grew up in a smaller town. I noticed that many of the things which people are bitter about appeared to be true. But the reality is more complicated. When I was living in Adelaide, it was very hard to meet women and even harder to date them. Men outnumbered women by a large margin. After moving to Melbourne a few years ago I very quickly noticed that the gender ration has dramatically shifted. A lot of women had left Adelaide to move to Melbourne and I was finding myself surrounded by women, often younger single women. The social conditioning of the society is playing a role. In Adelaide the environment was very fishbowl-like and there was a really strong conservative vibe to the place. In Melbourne it's very socialist/egalitarian. People don't care if you're rich or poor. I have a car and I rent an apartment. Not a fancy apartment. Two bedroom and I spend about 1/3rd of my monthly salary on rent. This seemed to be enough to get interest. I don't think being wealthy is a criteria. I think it's more about the social circumstances and the economic circumstances that the couple find themselves in. Would you risk a pregnancy if you couldn't afford to raise a child? Probably not. The economy is crap at the moment. In Australia housing is ludicrous. $1 million is rapidly becoming the norm for house prices in Melbourne and Sydney. This hasn't affected the chances of getting sex, but has definitely changed how having kids and buying property operates. I can see how living at home with your parents to buy a house is going to kill your chances of sex.
WRONG. I went to Tokyo in 2012. I stood in Akihabara and watched an 8K video of the London Olympics opening and Closing ceremonies provided by NHK on a 8K screen. I also own a 4K screen at home so I can say with absolute certainty. The difference was highly noticeable. The camera angles they were shooting took in the entire stadium. You could make out every face in the crowd. Could actually pick individuals with clarity in shots which would never be possible on a normal resolution or even 2-4k resolution screen. 8K resolution is perfect for cinemas. Admittedly it seems a bit pointless on a TV below 70-80+ inches in size. But the picture quality was stunning and to this day I haven't seen anything that looked as good. Japan has the right idea. By pushing technology and adoption of technology they are staying ahead of their competitors. Sure they're not wildly ahead, but they are still ahead of their competitors.
How exactly is Mr Cameron proposing that Cinemas compete with 82-100" UHD TVs? The cinema only goes up to 4-8K resolution currently. You can get screens that'll do that in your house which are gigantic. The cinema has already lost all of its advantages. The 82" TVs are going to crash in price within 3-5 years.
The Linux game library needs a leg up. It can get this by having more open source developers work on reverse engineering/reimplmenting Windows games on Linux. Projects like OpenMW could be extended to add support for Oblivion/Skyrim and Fallout 3/New Vegas/Fallout 4. Major developers are still holding off porting a lot of AAA titles. There needs to be more games built by the community and more awareness made of the games available. Most people aren't aware that OpenMW hackers have already got Oblivion assets loading, or that there's a GTA3 Linux engine remake.
The Democratic party has a huge problem. It's also a pretty simple problem:
If the US equivalent of the Australian Electoral commission got caught picking a favourite between one of the two major parties there would be a royal commission and a complete overhaul of our political system. The Democratic Party in America should be showing the same level of impartiality between candidates as the Electoral Commission does. It hasn't, and now people are rightly pissed off. This issue isn't going to go away. They have a serious problem on their hands and I don't think that merely putting Sanders on the ballot to run against Hillary for the nomination is enough to fix it.
Actually you could not compete with John Deere, Simply because of Copyright and Patent law. Both of which give John Deere a very powerful position where you can't just create your own combine harvester. If you need a fully optimised design, and the most optimal design is under patent. You will never beat them no matter what you manage to come up with on your own. Because their design is more optimal.
South Australia needs to bite the bullet and get either geothermal, solar thermal, or both types of plants built and running. They have the technology. The resources, and the need. I grew up in Adelaide. The state is very forward thinking/progressive. They need to prioritise fixing this as a matter of urgency. There have been plans for about 10 years now to build a Solar Thermal plant in Port Augusta.
Actually this is the team that wrote the Pied Piper algorithm which featured on Slashdot a few months ago. A good friend of mine is the person who actually created the Algorithm. He was the lead developer on Vegastrike. Really great guy. It's great to see him achieving success in his career.
Bring it on! If anti-piracy becomes 99.99% effective then we'll start seeing a lot more open source projects/free projects. Right now, there are thousands of developers/ICT guys with a lot of spare time being dedicated to consuming Hollywood content. Kick them off that gravy train and see what happens.
Noone is going to start spending money they don't have on stuff they don't need.
Except that being onshore is a great advantage for American workers. You can't provide/guarantee the same level of quality when you offshore and work remotely. The great thing about being onshore is it's an inherent advantage over being offshore. The H1B visas erode that advantage. Realistically with unemployment so high, the USA should scrap the H1B visas and the government should incentivise companies to hire Americans by providing training payments for 1-2 years.
Except property rights almost caused the collapse of Western civilisation in the 1920s/30s. Without proper moderation of the economy through sensible market regulations including Trust Busting/Anti-Monopoly/pro-competition government action. We will just repeat the same mistakes of the 20th century. Small businesses are the real drivers of the economy and Google/Amazon/Apple are sure as hell not small businesses. Small does not mean young business, and young business doesn't make it small. There is a huge difference. What should be happening is the largest companies should be getting taxed to shit and the money should be being pumped into the small business economy. That's how you create economic growth that benefits the entire economy. By having money influencing politics. A perverse reversal of economics occurs where the largest businesses capture the political class and most of society's wealth.
Actually most of the killings were because of idiot economic policies run by morons. Mao's great leap backwards and Soviet Famines were mostly caused by bad economic planning, not to mention all the political killings which were large, but by no means greater than other killings caused by other groups seeking money/resources. Stop trying to reduce complex events to simple single sentence answers, there are many things that influence political movements and power struggles. It's never about Atheism/Religion. Most of the terrorist attacks right now are being cause by US intervention in the Middle East, and that's mostly being driven by economics. Crony capitalists trying to take what's not rightfully theirs have caused more wars than any other group.
I think population growth is actually being slowed by the lack of access to money/land as well as the increase in education. The fact is housing is getting more expensive every year. Incomes are not rising to match, and people now know how expensive kids are. Noone wants to raise a kid in a tiny box apartment. Yet that is mostly what's being built in cities. So the new formula is either being forced to living in the fringe suburbs on a low wage. Or forego having kids and living in the inner city where the clubs and people are. No wonder the birth rate is crashing in the western world. Everyone is choosing to keep their lifestyles at the expense of having children. What's needed is large/cheap apartments in the inner city. Think 3-4 bedroom, for $200,000-300,000. That would encourage more families without people sacrificing living in the inner cities. Of course developers will never allow this to happen because they'd rather sell you a tiny box for $300,000-700,000.This is my experience in Australia at least. But I'd bet the same thing has happened in Japan, made worse by the economic crisis which blew their economy to bits and stopped wages from growing in any meaningful way.
This is a $88 problem to solve. I put a Sony head unit in my car for $300 back in 2012. Best decision I ever made. handles calls and streaming bluetooth audio. The new ones are $80 now with the same feature set.
But Apple isn't being taxed overseas. We know they're offshoring profits made in Australia, and the same deals are being made worldwide. The USA needs to crackdown in concert with the other OECD members. It's time to cut the bullshit. All of these companies are dodging tax.
Actually this is wrong, under the US intelligence laws, knowingly or unknowingly delivering information from it's proper place of custody is enough to indict. redirecting Classified Emails to a private server easily reaches that benchmark.
Here in Australia, the private industry guys are fucking useless. Try to get any job while you're on the dole. 99/100 times you'll get it yourself from seek.com. The government pays these companies billions each year so they can shuffle people who are wrong for the job into bad jobs they don't want to stay in, so they can claim government money for placing people. It's time to shut this scam down. If people want work, they'll find it, if they can't find work, make training available: AKA TAFE/Community college (not university that should be for employed people and young students paid by government coin.), and let the rest either not work, or clean up rubbish in community service positions. They make this stuff way too complicated/dumb. If people want do do uni, they can self fund it/get student loans. it's not the government's role to pay for everyone.
I think this is designed to suck air out of kernel development. I mean if your busy making your open source apps work in Windows who has time to make Linux work?
I use a Macbook Pro for work with Linux, unfortunately I have to dualboot because Goto Assist hasn't got a Linux port and won't work properly in wine. OSX is shit compared to Linux. Remmina, network-manager for vpns and the linux console environment are all reasons to take Linux over OSX. The OSX console is a pain to install addon apps and get a full gnu environment working on. Linux is far better at this than OSX is.
Games Workshop is already doing this for Warhammer 40K models...

So the IG is going to discipline a president? Assuming she gets elected she isn't going to face jack shit in penalties over her emails.
You could switch to Chinese CPUs... apparently they're the fastest now.
Seriously? so these cards only go upto 250GB, meanwhile SDXC goes upto 2TB and currently has 200GB cards on the market?? GG with that.

256kbit for everyone! noone needs fibre to the home!
Yeah, don't use this: https://www.hdfury.com/shop/ot... combined with this: https://www.thestreamingguys.c... Now you know how not to combine a HDCP 2.2 decrypter and a capture card to not record the raw 4k stream.
